tequila on tap OCTOBER The idea of creating a digital publication was years in the making, and maybe it was only a dream I had since childhood playing card games, but the idea of images and telling stories to these images was second nature to me. In my mind, I complimented my surroundings knowing someday that my hobbies would be a full swing journey into a digital publication reality. I am now an adult in my mid 40’s. Dreams come and go. Tier One Magazine was born in 2017. I am thankful for the Patreon platform for opening doors for me. I am thankful for the InDesign platform for providing a stage I can create on, and I am thankful for the ISSUU platform for providing a gallery to showcase my work in. Now we are in 2019, and yes the many steps I have taken are truth be told that many a learning days are behind me, and still I have so much to learn ahead of me. The Violin Magik by Bobby Tequila The adventures of gameland is not complete unless it is accompanied with the eloquent of strings derived from happiness. The moon over Gotham was filled with a blood color. Halloween came early and plenty of laughs littered the streets. The rain hissed with every drop tip-tapping on the pavement, and to your door, the thriller crew knocked with cruel intentions. Your eyes recognized the silhouettes under the shadows. You see a grin that strikes at you very eerie from ear to ear. You see the bubblegum girl with her signature pigtails. The Boo ghost, with his spherical shape had the idea of tasting your flesh with a menacing open mouth, and Slimer had that glow of hunger flying around. They came with a empty bag ready to receive goodies that you will surrender. They even weaponed up with a smash hammer and a pistol to boot making sure that you don’t change your mind. A Halloween tradition is was now a matter of life or death, and the thriller crew laughed it up at every shivering bone in you body. One bag your dropped an apple. The next bag some chocolates were the treat to give. The third bag filled with a deck of cards and some poker chips, and the last bag made away with some cinnamon coated pecans. Maybe it was a last minute choice to gather these unique items, but it did sway the thriller crew to move on. Of course, the joker did pull the trigger to his gun. BANG!

Carl and Dawn were a happily married couple about to observe their tenth wedding anniversary. They met in college just ten years earlier and after a whirlwind romance married a short six months later. So their wedding anniversary and their tenth college reunion would coincide this year. Dawn had been looking for a special dress to wear to the reunion. Since they loved to frequent flea markets and craft fairs Dawn was hoping to find just the right dress for the reunion. At a small flea market just outside of their hometown Dawn found just what she was looking for. It was an antique floor length dress made of chiffon with a narrow waist line, high collar, puffed sleeves, button down cuffs, and large black buttons going from neckline to hem. She was so delighted that the dress only cost ten dollars. She paid for it and they immediately left the fair and returned home. Dawn wanted to keep the dress clean and safe, so she put it in the top drawer of her high-back, dark brown, antique, mahogany dresser. She would retrieve it on the day of the reunion, being assured that it would be safe right where she left it. Till then she walked around the house singing aloud, with a grand smile on her face, awaiting their special day. Just two weeks later the day had arrived. She went to the chest and opened the top drawer anxious to pull out the dress and put it on. Then Carl heard her scream.

“Its gone! Its fuckin’ gone,” she cried, “oh Carl, my dress is gone.” Carl rushed to his wife’s side and looked into the drawer. It was indeed empty. “Honey,” Carl said, “you must have moved it. You were definitely worried about something happening to it. Tell me you moved it.” Dawn was crying! “I did not move it! I did not, I tell you,” she cried to her husband, “I haven’t touched it or even looked at it since I put it in there! Where could it have gone?” Carl took her by the shoulders and pulled her to him. “Relax honey,” he said, holding her tightly, “we’ll find it. Let’s search the house.” With Dawn crying Carl took her by the hand and they began to search. They looked in every drawer, every closet, under the bed, in the kitchen and even in the bathroom. It was nowhere! Dawn was distraught. And she was angry! “I want my dress,” she screamed to her husband, “I want the God Damn thing now, Carl!” Carl was perplexed! “Wait,” he said, “lets look in the attic. “I want my dress,” she screamed to her husband, “I want the God Damn thing now, Carl!”
“There,” Carl said, “I told you it was in the house. You must have moved it and just didn’t remember.”
Carl was perplexed!
“Maybe I did, and maybe I didn’t,” Dawn said sharply, “I simply don’t care right now. I have my dress!”
“Wait,” he said, “lets look in the attic. We haven’t looked there yet.” “I did not move it, Carl,” Dawn yelled at him, “I never touched it!” Carl took her by the hand and lead her to the attic door. He opened it. There was a small, winding set of stairs leading to the top floor. They had to duck their heads for when the roof was shingled the roofers stupidly used nails that were too long, and they stuck down from the ceiling. They made their way to the attic. The only things in the attic were the five boxes of old clothes they had put there when they first moved into the house. They searched the boxes but to no avail. The dress was not in any of them. Then Carl noticed another box, one they had not brought up to the attic, hidden in a dark corner. It was old, and weathered, with peeling yellow tape holding it together. He retrieved the box and began to tear it open. When he peeled back the top flaps Dawn squealed with delight. There inside this mysterious box was her dress. She quickly pulled it out and held it up at shoulder height. It was beautiful. “Oh Carl, I could die right this very moment,” Dawn cried out, “I could, I could!” “There,” Carl said, “I told you it was in the house. You must have moved it and just didn’t remember.” “Maybe I did, and maybe I didn’t,” Dawn said sharply, “I simply don’t care right now. I have my dress!” Then Dawn began to tremble. Slowly, starting at the hemline the dress began to turn to dust, proceeding upwards until there was nothing left but a pile of dust at Dawn’s feet. Dawn screamed and threw herself to the floor hitting her head on the green, cold steel, Remington typewriter Carl’s dad had given him to write his “Great Novel,” which, of course, he had never gotten to. When she hit the typewriter her forehead burst open and the blood came shooting out, leaving a pool surrounding her head. She died instantly! Carl, nearly in shock, fell to the floor and swept up his now dead partner in his arms. He held her and began to cry! The only love-of-his-life was gone, and he was left all alone. He wept openly, shaking back-and-forth, clutching his dead spouse’s body in his arms. “Oh my God, why have you done this to me,” he screamed, “why have you taken the only woman I have ever loved. I hate you, God!” Suddenly a strong breeze came through the windowless room and blew away the pile of dust at their feet. As it did so Carl swore he could hear a woman scream in terror. He sat rocking back-and-forth, holding Dawn in his arms for what seemed like hours. Then, without warning, a great pain came rushing through his chest. He could feel his blood pulsing and then his heart exploded in what the Coroner later said was a massive fear induced heart attack. The two lovers died within moments of each other, all for the want of a dress. A dress they never knew was haunted! They were buried side-by-side in the local cemetery, with few friends, and even fewer family in attendance. Their love transcended their lives! 35
