The Judges decision is final, and will not be contested An image MAY NOT be entered as a PRINT and PROJECTED IMAGE in the same competition An entry of 4 different images may be entered in both prints and projected images unless otherwise stated (for the exhibition see “EXHIBITION RULES”) Projected images may be submitted on CD/DVD,PEN DRIVE or by E­MAIL to the relevant competition secretary by or on the entry date Prints must bear on the back of the mount, in the top left hand corner, The TITLE of the print, SECTION (when relevant) and the MEMBERS CLASS (ADVANCED or BEGINNER) and must be handed to the relevant competition secretary by or on the entry night

The authors name MUST NOT appear on any entry, but MUST appear on any entry form and all packaging All entries must be the sole work of the entrant (other than processing), and must own the copyright The committee reserve the right to retain any competing entry for use in competitions such as L&CPU, ICPA and other events designated by the club The committee will take the upmost care of all entries, but will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred All print entries MUST BE mounted on board (see individual Competition Guidelines for mount size) All mounts must be free of Velcro and adhesive tape or any such item liable to damage other prints whilst in the transit boxes Projected Images will be 1024Ă—768 with a maximum file size of 2Mb and in J­PEG

If images are less than the specified size, the extra space may be filled with any design or colour of the entrants choice, but at least filled with black An Image may be used only 3 times in the period immediately PRECEDING the exhibition, and ONCE in the exhibition, after this the image is deemed to be dead, but may be retained by the club ( See RULE 8 ) All winning images will be awarded Photographer of the year (P.O.T.Y.) points, (excludes the ELIMINATION CONTEST) Failure to comply with the rules could result in the image being refused entry to the competition


Quarterly Competitions 1 2 3 4 5 6

Of the 4 Quarterly competitions in the club year (Jan­Dec), 2 will be an “Open” subject and 2 will be “Themed” An entry will consist of up to 4 Prints and/or 4 Projected Images Prints may be any size on a mount no larger than 50×40 Cms Projected Images will be the normal 1024×768 in J­peg format with a maximum file size of 2Mb All entries must state a) Title b) Class (Advanced or Beginner) but not the entrants name All packaging must be clearly marked with the Author’s name, and will be returned after the judging

This competition is open to both Prints and Projected Images Images must have been taken during the course of the current club year (Jan­Dec) Entries will include any image taken on any club activity e.g portrait nights / summer outing or any club event during that year Prints may be any size on a mount no larger than 50×40 Cms Projected Images size 1024×768 in J­peg format with maximum file size 2Mb All entries must state Title and Class, but not the entrants name All packaging must clearly state the Author’s name, and will be returned after judging

This competition is open to both Prints and Projected Images Entrants must supply 3 separate images, each depicting an aspect of their chosen theme Entrants may submit up to 2 separate themes Prints must be presented on 3 separate mounts which should be marked on the back with the Theme title, the Print title, Class (Advanced / Beginner) and viewing order Image 1 – Image 2­ Image 3, (as the judge may wish to view them as a panel) Interpretation of the Theme is left to the judge Prints can be any size on a mount up to the maximum 50×40 Cms

Projected Images will be the usual 1024Ă—768 in J­peg format, maximum file size 2Mb


President's Prize Competition 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

This competition is in 2 sections, the 1st is “Open” and not restricted in content, the 2nd is “Themed” and will be chosen by the President. Entry is confined to 2 images in each section The competition is open to both Prints and Projected Images Prints may be any size on a mount no larger than 50×40 Cms Prints must state on the back of the mount, the Title, Section (Open/Theme) and Class (Advanced/Beginner) Projected Images will be 1024×768 in J­ peg format with a file size of 2Mb Images will be scored out of 10, resulting in a possible score of 40. The entrant with the highest score will be declared the winner, in the event of a tie, the highest


scoring image from the tying entrants will win the prize, should it still be a tie, then the judge will chose from those highest scoring images


The Elimination Contest 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

This is a fun contest and is not eligible for P.O.Y. points The contest is open to both Prints and Projected Images but judged separately Prints may be of any size on a mount no larger than 50×40 Cms There is no restriction as to when the Image was taken Projected images will be the usual 1024×768 in J­peg format with a max. 2Mb file size Any image used in a previous Elimination Contest is not allowed and will be disqualified The entrant will require a bank of 8 images (If entering both prints and P.I you will require 8 for each) In Round1, the entrant will submit 1 image, the judge will comment on the images and

then eliminate 1 (or more if there is an high entry) The unfortunate entrant will take no further part in that section of the competition In Round 2 the judge will eliminate another worker, and so on until there are only 2 workers left, he will then select the winner from the final 2 images

There are 2 sections Advanced and Beginners Points will be allocated to successful entrants who obtain either 1st­2nd or 3rd place in any competition throughout the club year (Jan­Dec) including the Exhibition , but excluding the “Elimination Contest” 3 points will be awarded to 1st place, 2 points for second place and 1 point for 3rd place If a club member judges any competition he will be awarded 2 points (as he is unable to make an entry) Points are added together throughout the year and the “Running Totals” will be displayed on the notice board after each competition The Beginner and Advanced worker with the most points at the end of the year will be presented with the appropriate trophies.


If there is a tie at the end of the year, the trophy will be shared jointly


Winsor & Rosenberg Cups

This is a “Pre­ Exhibition” competition for Prints only The Winsor cup being for Advanced workers and the Rosenberg cup being for Beginners The competition will be “Themed” for Advanced workers and “Open” for Beginners Winning prints will be exhibited in the exhibition Title, and Class (Advanced/Beginner) and Section (Theme or Open) must be clearly marked on the reverse of the mount, but must not bear the author’s name Mounts must be free of all Velcro, adhesive tape or any other item which may result in damage to other prints whilst in the transit box All packaging must bear the author’s name, and will be returned after the exhibition

Prints must relate to the Theme and must not have been previously entered in the exhibition Points will be awarded for P.O.Y.

All sections are open to both Prints and Projected Images All images must be handed in on or before Entry night, with the relevant entry form Entrants may submit a total of 10 Prints and 10 Projected Images, they may enter 4 images in 1 section of their choosing, and a maximum of 2 in any other section Prints may be any size, on a 50x40cms mount (for exhibition display purposes) Prints must clearly state on the reverse of the mount in the top left hand corner a) Title of print b)Section entered (e.g “Landscape”) and c) Class (Advanced/Beginner). The author’s name MUST NOT appear All mounts must be free of any Velcro or adhesive tape or any other item liable to cause damage to other prints whilst in the transit box

All Print entries selected by the selection committee, will be returned with a gold star affixed to the back of the mount. This will indicate that the print has been retained by the club and can be called upon when required. A full list of retained images both prints and projected images will be placed on the notice board after selection Entry into the exhibition implies acceptance of the rules


Exhibition Individual Section Guidelines Open Colour

The emphasis in this section will be on strong pictorial content (i.e. lighting and composition), whilst it is an open subject, images such as Nature, Portraiture, Architecture and Record etc. would probably be more suited to be entered in their appropriate sections. Items such as Cultivated Flora, Table top and Zoology would be suitable for this section.

Portrait/Figure Study

This section will accommodate any Portrait taken by “Available light” or by use of “Studio lighting” (photofloods­flash etc.) Figure studies can be of full or part persons and of everyday people portrayed in their own environment.


Monochrome

This section will contain any image using the Monochrome medium (Black and White) or a singly Toned image (such as Sepia). Emphasis will be on content, lighting , composition and overall sharpness

Landscape

The use of Pictorial lighting and composition is of the upmost importance in this subject, this section will also accommodate Seascapes, and Cityscapes,

Natural History

Subjects in this section should illustrate all aspects of Nature, which includes Wildlife (Birds足 Animals足Insects etc.) being free and unrestrained in their natural environment, and of Geological subjects (Plants, Rock formations, Lichen and Mosses etc.) but not Domesticated Animals or Cultivated Flora


Architectural/Record

This section will be strongly dependant on “Technical Quality” as to illustrate detail in the subject. Therefore sharpness is of more importance than any pictorial aspect. The inclusion of people should only be used to give a sense of scale to the subject

Creative

This section is devoted to the imagination of the author to create an image using any manipulative technique such as Solarization, Posterisation, Creative filters, Montage or any other creative source

Photo­Journalism/Travel

This section will include images of a documentary nature, such as Sport, local events, humour and news stories. Photo­travel should either illustrate Culture, People, and Terrain of a land they live in, such as would be found in magazines or travel brochures
