Worktown: ‘The Everyday’, Bolton Library and Museum Services Price from: Free Opening Times: 03/12/2011 18/02/2012
This exhibition shows photographs of Bolton taken by Anna White during her 2010/11 John Marriott Humphrey Spender scholarship year. The exhibition is supported by Bolton le Moors Rotary Club and the University of Bolton. Anna was tasked with re-interpreting Humphrey Spender’s Worktown project of the 1930s, and for the last year have been documenting everyday life in Bolton. As part of the project in October 2011, Anna came into the Museum and outside the Town Hall to take photographs of Boltonians. Everyone who was photographed received a free copy of their image and all images will
go into the Museums Bolton archive for further generations to look at; as well as some of them going into this exhibition. Come along and see if you are featured! This is not a club trip but is included here to let you know what is going on locally
Help We hope that by producing What's On we introduce you not only to the activities provided by the club but also to other opportunities to get out and about to take photographs or to see exhibitions or listen to interesting speakers.
Finally cover images
However we can only do this if we know what is going on outside the club.
The image should be about 1500 pixels wide. What's On is landscape format and therefore landscape images are preferred you will also note that type is placed to the bottom right-hand corner so please take that into account when choosing the photograph.
We need input from you to keep What's On and the calendar up-todate. If you learn of anything which might be of interest to other members whether it be somewhere to go or something to see please let us know. For general events and photo opportunities please email the details to our events coordinator Steward Elliott. wildprophotos@yahoo.co.uk For other stuff please e-mail it to me secretary@bandd.cc
I am sure that there is someone out there who would like to have their image on the cover and if you would send me an image you have every chance of it being used next week.
We also have introduced a Featured Photographer item on the web page so if you have a set of images you would like to profile send them to me with a short story and you too can be featured
