Community Dave Aronberg At Division C Freshman Class Boasts the Toastmasters Leadership Institute Highest GPA in the FAU’s History From losing his own election to being dragged into a political firestorm raging around Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg has experienced many bumps and bruises in public life. He’s learned more from those struggles than from his success, he recently told members of an international leadership and communications group in Boca Raton. Aronberg was the keynote speaker August 13 for the Toastmasters Leadership Institute at Lynn University. The event was sponsored by the Southeast Florida and Bahamas district of Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders. Members attended workshops on values and leadership as well as on various aspects of public speaking and communication. About 200 Toastmasters attended the leadership event, which was capped by Aronberg’s address on “Achieving the Pinnacle of Success.” Aronberg’s career has brought him to the pinnacle many times, but it was a loss that led to two of his biggest wins. He was defeated in the Democratic primary for the 2010 Florida Attorney General race. The seat eventually went to a Republican, current incumbent Pam Bondi — who then hired Aronberg to work for her. Together, they worked to eliminate Florida’s “pill mills,” the once-flourishing industry of overprescribed addictive pain medication. When he decided to seek a state Senate seat in 2002, he hired his former opponent’s campaign manager. And he won. Aronberg earned plenty of laughs from his recollections of an incident related to the Trump campaign. In March 2016, Jupiter police filed a charge of misdemeanor battery against Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who’d been accused by a reporter of improperly grabbing her at a Trump campaign appearance. Aronberg declined to prosecute after viewing tapes of the incident — but not before being at the center of raucous coverage of the incident, most of
it inaccurate. One especially remarkable story in the New York Post accused him of pursuing Lewandowski because he was “Hillary’s man,” referring to his support for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Aronberg noted that he, like most Democratic officials, had made a personal contribution to the Clinton campaign. But in the end his refusal to prosecute Lewandowski showed no partisan leanings in doing his job. Aronberg’s address offered many lessons for the audience of Toastmasters, who often join the organization to overcome fears of public speaking. He recalled being quite nervous at the press conference announcing his decision not to prosecute, but was able to recover after a short interruption helped him calm down. His chief lesson, however — learning from defeat and recovering from setbacks to move on to victory — was even more relevant to the Toastmasters goal of developing leadership skills and helping members achieve success in their personal and professional endeavors.

For the fall semester, the average high school GPA for first-time-in-college (FTIC) students is a 3.96, up from a 3.82 last fall. “FAU has increased its admissions standards, and this number reflects that,” said FAU Provost Gary W. Perry. “We are committed to attracting highachieving students, and we will continue to improve FAU’s academic reputation.” FAU received more than 20,500 freshman applications and more than 8,300 transfer applications for fall. The total number of new freshmen enrolled at
the Boca Raton campus is 3,243. FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College at the John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter will welcome 143 new students for this semester. Thousands of on-campus residential students returned to campus this week during FAU’s Move-In Day. FAU President John Kelly joined faculty, staff and student volunteers in assisting new students with carrying their belongings. Student residence halls at both the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses are at 100 percent capacity this semester, with 4,150 students living on campus in Boca and 282 students living on campus in Jupiter.

Male Role Models Welcome Students Back to School With Encouragement Last week, one of our local schools kicked off the new school year in a big way, thanks to some dads and father figures. As the students at Village Academy in Delray Beach walked into the building, 47 cheerleaders, or rather well-dressed men, greeted them with high-fives and cheers. “Welcome back!” and “Have a great year!” the men, who lined the hallway, said in chorus. It was a sight to behold. Just imagine the deer-in-headlights look these first-time students had as they pounced upon these men -whom they did not know - who clapped, patted them on the backs and gave them words of encouragement. Some of the kids were so fired up by the attention as they passed through the line and smacked hands like they were running down a football field. Among the band of cheerleaders were several employees from the city’s water and sewer department, the fire department, local fraternities and several small business operators. I sent our mayor an invitation just days before, and before the message could
leave my laptop, he responded, “Count me in.” Our chief of police, had been on vacation, but he donned his uniform and joined the team. It is no surprise to many why the police and the city – all segments of the community – enjoy such a good relationship because of the level of dedication and commitment as was displayed by our mayor and chief. “This is so good that the first people they see are men, as they start the school year,” said Valerie Bush, who brought her grandson to school. “Not to mention that many of these students who left the house this morning might not have had any positive encouragement. So it is important that these father figures are here to show them that emotion, that expression of love and to show them that someone really cares about them.” The event began last year after discussions with the new principal, LaToya T. Dixon, who thought it was a brilliant idea. “Many of our students come from homes, where they do not have fathers as male role models,” said Ms. Dixon, who is in her second year as principal. “It is so
important that all children have a positive male role model who is doing something good for them, something they can relate to, to give them the idea that they are worthwhile and education is worthwhile.” It is important to have community supporters to stand in the gap for those students who lack role models, especially on such an important day as the first day of school. Ms. Dixon also thought it was important for every student to know that she, her staff and the community are investing in their education and that the team is stressing the importance of coming to school ready to Work Hard, Be Good, and Think for the 2016-2017 school year. A Florida Department of Education study found a positive correlation between family involvement and a student’s academic success. Further research also found that when fathers are actively involved in their child’s education, the student earn better grades, score higher on tests, enjoy school, has fewer discipline problems and are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college. The event also was intended to change
the public’s perception of black men. It was so gratifying to see the number of black men who showed up to inspire the students. I hope Monday’s showing addressed those who maintain that black men are not valued or that there are not enough black men doing something positive. From this initiative, we have launched Delray Beach SMART Reading Club where men and boys, in the first through third grades, will meet for reading and story time and promote mentorship. We are inviting all dedicated men to meet each 2nd Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Catherine Strong Park, 400 SW 12th Ave.,Unit #5, Delray Beach. Call 561-665-0151 to volunteer or for more information. I applaud these fathers and male figures who blazed the path for our future leaders on Aug. 8. We need more male to step forward to show these students that their community has their backs. Let’s show them that we care. To volunteer at Village Academy or for more information, call the school at 561243-6100.
POSITIVE LIVING By Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr.
How Punctual Are You? Punctuality is not a value limited to past ages, nor to certain unique situations. What used to occur with greater frequency and seriousness in the past, remains a human attitude which is still paramount in human relations and a person’s individual behavior. Although it was more common in the past, especially in the western world, it has also failed many tests among cultures where that was never viewed as a priority in life. For some people, or entire nations, being on time for anything is totally irrelevant; people choose on their own when they arrive for a meeting scheduled for a specific time-frame. Among certain cultures, if you plan a din-
ner, a wedding, or some other more formal occurrence, and announce the hour to begin, the invitees make every effort to arrive one hour later and, sometimes, even that turns out to be a bit too early. I once heard a hilarious definition of punctuality, given by someone born in a nation where such a thing is non-existent, and faithfully observed. That definition suggested that punctuality occurs when two people arrive with the same lateness! This is similar to what someone, perhaps jokingly, is supposed to have stated: “I once decided to become a procrastinator, but never got around to doing it.” Sadly, far too many have done it and several others are notorious for acting that way in
all their affairs! Yet, the call for action needs to be heeded with a greater sense of urgency. Whatever needs to be done turns out to be more effective when accomplished with dispatch. There’s no need for things to accumulate and later confuse the doer regarding where he or she should start; what activity should deserve priority, in the midst of so much still left undone? Surveys have reported that persons are much happier when they observe every task before them with seriousness and punctuality; the sooner a responsibility is met, the more shall one have in which to enjoy greater freedom, or move into additional delights within their reach!
Contrary-wise, those who are too casual about their use of time, especially of what’s already designated for specific functions, will inevitably suffer unpleasant consequences. So, don’t wait till the last minute when you already know what is expected of you; instead, apportion your time realistically and well, being always on time for invitations received, commitments made, meetings previously scheduled, regardless of the nature of the event. You’ll be surprised at how much extra time you shall remain, available for other valuable experiences you can also have!
Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr. is a Florida resident who, for many years, was a professor at the post-graduate level. He is a writer, a sought-after conference speaker, a man who lived in five continents of the world, having received his education in four of them. When he resided in southern California, he wrote a weekly column for the daily “Anaheim Bulletin,” which was carried for about six years, until he moved to south Florida.

2016 UNITED STATES DISTRIBUTION NOTICE:
■ TRYING TO KEEP UP: Rapid shipments of heavy packages containing Vault Bricks loaded with valuable .999 solid U.S. State Silver Bars are flowing around the clock from the private vaults of the Lincoln Treasury to U.S. State residents who call 1-866-964-3375 to beat the 48-hour deadline.
U.S. State Silver Bars go to residents in 3 states
U.S. residents who find their state listed below in bold get first dibs at just the $57 minimum set for state residents while all non state residents must pay $134, if any silver bars remain NATIONWIDE – The phone lines are ringing off the hook. That’s because U.S. State Silver Bars sealed away in State Vault Bricks are being handed over to FL, AL and GA residents at just the state minimum set by the Lincoln Treasury for the next 2 days. This is not a misprint. For the next 2 days residents who find their state on the Distribution List to the right in bold are getting individual State Silver Bars at just the state minimum of $57 set by the Lincoln Treasury. That’s why everyone should be taking full Vault Bricks loaded with five U.S. State Silver Bars before they’re all gone. And here’s the best part. Every FL, AL and GA resident who gets at least two Vault Bricks is also getting free shipping and free handling. That’s a real steal because all other state residents must pay over six hundred dollars for each State Vault Brick. Just a few weeks ago, nobody knew that the only U.S. State Silver Bars locked away in the private vaults of the Lincoln Treasury would be allocated to the Federated Mint for a limited release to residents in 3 states. Every single one of the 50 U.S. State Silver Bars are date numbered in the order they ratified the Constitution and were admitted into the Union beginning in the late 1700s. “As Executive Advisor to the Lincoln Treasury I get paid to deliver breaking news. So, for anyone who hasn’t heard yet, highly collectable U.S. State Silver Bars are now being handed over at just the state minimum set by the Lincoln Treasury to residents in 3 states who beat the offer deadline, which is why I pushed for this announcement to be widely advertised,” said Mary Ellen Withrow, the emeritus 40th Treasurer of the
United States of America. “These bars are solid .999 pure fine silver and will always be a valuable precious metal which is why everyone is snapping up as many as they can before they’re all gone,” Withrow said. There’s one thing Withrow wants to make very clear. State residents only have two days to call the Toll Free Order Hotlines to get the U.S. State Silver Bars. “These valuable U.S. State Silver Bars are impossible to get at banks, credit unions or the U.S. Mint. In fact, they’re only being handed over at state minimum set by the Lincoln Treasury to FL, AL and GA residents who call the Toll Free Hotline before the deadline ends two days from today’s publication date”, said Timothy J. Shissler, Executive Director of Vault Operations at the private Lincoln Treasury. To make it fair, special Toll Free Overflow Hotlines have been set up to ensure all residents have an equal chance to get them. Rapid shipments to state residents are scheduled to begin with the first calls being accepted at precisely 8:30am today. “We’re bracing for all the calls and doing everything we can to make sure no one gets left out, but the U.S. State Silver Bars are only being handed over at just the state resident minimum set by the Lincoln Treasury for the next two days or until they’re all gone, whichever comes first. For now, residents can get the U.S. State Silver Bars at just the state minimum set by the Lincoln Treasury as long as they call before the order deadline ends,” confirmed Shissler. “With so many state residents trying to get these U.S. State Silver Bars, lines are busy so keep trying. All calls will be answered,” Shissler said. ■

FAU community to download it.” With “FAU Guardian,” users can create a profile about themselves and invite family and friends to join their safety network. When needed, the user can request one or more of their “guardians” to virtually walk with them on or off campus. If the user doesn’t make it to his or her destination on time, the “guardians” will be alerted. Another feature of the app is a panic button, which allows users to contact campus police immediately and shows police their current location. If users see something suspicious on campus, they can also use the app to send anonymous text messages and photos to police.
A Florida native and 44-year resident of Boca Raton, Mayor Haynie is a graduate of Lynn University and holds a certification in Traffic Engineering Studies from Georgia Institute of Technology and Northwestern University. She began her career as an engineering analyst for the City of Boca Raton. The mother of five adult children, she is the 43rd Mayor of Boca Raton and is in her fifth term on the City Council. Noting that more Floridians live in incorporated cities than outside of them, Haynie said her “Safe Cities, Safe Florida” initiative will focus on providing city governments training and educational resources to better service their residents. “We all recognize that the best government is the one closest to the people. Working together through the Florida League of Cities, we can enhance the single most important function of government: protecting our citizens,” Haynie said. The initiative will have three main components: Enhanced training through
partnering organizations that will provide expert insights to help teach city officials more about important public safety topics; enhanced online resources and educational materials to support efforts toward safer cities; and partnerships with agencies and organizations that represent a natural fit for the initiative, creating a network of experts for city officials to turn to when needed. Mayor Haynie also was a recipient of the Home Rule Hero Award, which recognizes city officials who went above and beyond to advocate the League’s legislative agenda during the past legislative session. Haynie will join an impressive list of Florida leaders serving as officers with the Florida League of Cities for the 201617 term, including: • Florida League of Cities 1st Vice President: Gil Ziffer, commissioner, City of Tallahassee; and • Florida League of Cities 2nd Vice President: Leo Longworth, commissioner, City of Bartow.

Autism Explored in “Life, Animated”
Charlotte’s Travels
Photos by Charlotte Beasley
On Friday evening I attended the Republican Party lobsterfest at the Broken Sound C.C. A very large group enjoyed a terrific lobster, ribs, chicken dinner and chocolate creme brulee dessert. Several of the speakers included, Sen. Marco Rubio, Lt. Gov of Florida, Carlos Cantera and CFO, Jeff Atwater. Many raffle prizes were awarded.
Explore the strange, surreal world of autism with “Life, Animated,” a documentary film by Roger Ross Williams, with animation by Mac Guff.org. Roger followed Owen Suskind and older brother Ron Suskind in their daily lives. Ron Suskind wrote the script about his younger brother Owen’s struggles with autism. Autism is a relatively new term. It connotes learning-disabled, but it does not mean mentally retarded. Many autistic children are quite intelligent; even brilliant, but they just can’t connect with everyday life. Owen Suskind was just such a child. He was born seemingly normal, but at age 3 he withdrew from the world. His
father, a journalist, reports that Owen “vanished,” that he could not sleep, his motor skills deteriorated, and his language skills broke down into gibberish. At age 4 it was discovered Owen related to Walt Disney animated movies. He memorized the dialogue word for word and even the end credits. “Life, Animated” chronicles Owen’s re-entry into life. He finds a girlfriend (whom he loses). He moves into an assisted living facility at age 26. Most of us take for granted the ability to function in school and society. Some of us are gifted in the opposite direction, with a higher than normal intelligence that can cause its own problems. “Life, Animated” is a valuable lesson in tolerance and understanding. We are not equally blessed. That’s just how life is. To ignore or despise people less than “normal” is a crime against nature.

Wednesday is the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the Aug. 30 primary and nonpartisan elections in Broward and Palm Beach counties. In Palm Beach County, requests have already gone up 50 percent from the 2012 August primary. More than 115,000 ballots have been mailed out, and a little more than 33,000 have been returned. In 2012, more than 49,000 were sent, and about 29,500 were returned. Office Depot CEO Roland Smith is retiring, but will remain Chairman while pursuing his goal of climbing to the summit of Mt. Everest. Quarterback Jason Driskel has started before for Florida Atlantic. Now, it's different: he is the starter. FAU named Driskel its starting quarterback, after a

long competition with Daniel Parr that dated back to the beginning of spring practice. Labor Day weekend will be the last time for a while that visitors to Boca Raton's Sugar Sand Park will be allowed to ride the iconic carousel. Park officials plan to close the ride for three weeks starting Sept. 6 and reopen it the week of Sept. 26, though they have not committed to a date. The opening will depend on the work and weather. Crews will be taking apart the carousel, at 300 S. Military Trail, to fix its inner workings. The $24,800 repairs are necessary to make sure the carousel is safe. The district says it has chosen to wait until after Labor Day to close the carousel because of its popularity over holiday weekends. Riders are not in danger, but the district is taking a proactive measure to prevent accidents, injuries and long-term closure of the ride. McDonald's is recalling 29 million fitness wristbands distributed in Happy Meals after dozens of children reportedly developed skin irritations. The Oak Brook fast-food giant stopped including the "Step-iT" activity wristbands in meals last week after receiving "limited reports" of skin irritations associated with the wearable step counters. McDonald's stepped up the count and issued the recall after finding more than 70 incidents, including seven reports of blisters from the wristbands. The wristbands, which were made in China, came in translucent plastic orange, blue or green, featured a digital screen that tracked a child's movement and included motion-activated lights. The Boca Raton Public Library is joining the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to encourage members of the community to register for a card during September, which has been designated as library card sign-up month. To renew or apply for a library card, Boca residents must provide proof that they live or own property in the city. Non-city residents can purchase an individual card for $150 a year, or a family card for $250 year.
Have you ever driven past a business and noticed the sign, “Under New Management,” prominently displayed on the exterior? It makes you wonder if that will prove to be a good thing or not, right? I can think of a restaurant or two that I enjoyed going to until their quality and/ or service declined, making it less appealing to continue patronizing them. When I saw “Under New Management” across the front window or marquee, I wondered, “Should I visit them again and see what has changed?” The same applies to large corporations, where old leadership is removed and a new CEO is appointed with promises of bigger and better things to come. When an organization is struggling or falls on hard times, whether it is a for-profit auto manufacturer, an educational institution, or a well-known retail chain, the promise of being Under New Management often serves to calm stakeholders, at least temporarily, and placate disillusioned customers or supporters. But taking this idea to a more personal level, have you ever felt the need in your life to be “under new management”? Maybe there are some behavioral traits you are not proud of. A hair-trigger temper that sometimes causes you trouble in your interactions with employees, colleagues or even customers? Perhaps underlying feelings of anger you find difficult to repress – even when you cannot identify exactly why you are angry? Or other temptations that plague you every day, whether at work or in your personal life? You would like to change, to feel or act differently, but feel helpless in being able to do so. What would you say if presented the opportunity to make desired changes, and it would not take much effort on your part to experience it? Years ago some-
one came into my life and helped me to understand and apply some biblical truths that I found to be transformative – truly life-changing. Here are some of them, for your consideration: We are offered the opportunity to become “new.” Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ means a lot more than receiving forgiveness for sins and assurance of life after death. It also means we truly receive new life spiritually. With this comes the capacity to overcome old habits and destructive behaviors, not through our own initiative but through the power of Jesus living in us. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me…” (Galatians 2:20). “…just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life” (Romans 6:4). We are freed from the power of our old ways. Some view the so-called “Christian life” as attempting to conform to a new set of rules, rituals and regulations. However, the Bible teaches we become freed from the power of sin – defined as “missing the mark” of God’s perfect standards – and instead are enabled to live as God always intended. “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” Perhaps you need to turn your life over to Jesus Christ for the first time. Or maybe, even as one of His followers, you have failed to recognize and appropriate His power to become “under new management.” Today might be a good day to start, by praying and enlisting the support of trusted friends.

sports Lynn Soccer Tied for Second in SSC Second Week of Preseason Comes Preseason Poll to an End For FAU Football
Saint Leo received 60 total votes and four first place votes in the poll, which was voted on by head coaches in the SSC. Lynn and Rollins finished tied for second in the poll with 53 total votes apiece. The Fighting Knights received three first place votes edging the Tars’ two first place nods. The Lions [10-7-1, 5-2-1) finished 2015 with the program’s second conference title in three years and the postseason tournament No. 1 seed. Saint Leo advanced through the tournament to the championship final where they lost to No. 3 seeded Rollins [13-8, 5-3] by the score of 2-0. The Tars are the topranked school from the SSC in the NSCAA preseason national coaches’
poll, coming in at No. 17, followed by the Fighting Knights at No. 25 and Saint Leo receiving votes. Lynn opens its season Thursday, Sept. 1, against Auburn Montgomery in Cleveland, Tenn. The squad plays its home opener at the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort Soccer Classic beginning on Friday, Sept. 9, at 4 p.m.
FAU Athletics Announces Fan Experience Changes for Home Football Game The fan-friendly environment at Florida Atlantic University home football games will be better than ever for the 2016 season. Thanks to a season-long survey last year of ticket purchasers and students, the FAU game day staff went to work implementing new ideas and initiatives. “It was educational to receive feedback directly from our ticket purchasers,” said Melissa Dawson, executive associate athletics director. “Our goal is to provide the best fan experience in college football. The only way to continually improve upon this is to know your opportunities to improve. We are thankful to the individuals that took the time to provide us feedback and hope these open lines of communication will help us continue to improve upon the game day experience at FAU football games,” Items identified with the highest level of satisfaction were the cleanliness and convenience of restrooms, pre-game fan fest, entry procedures, post-game traffic flow and several other services and commodities. Areas that showed room for improvement were pre-game traffic flow, concessions variety on the Delray Hyundai Deck and main concourse, multiple silver reserved parking lots and customer service among some game day vendors. A few adjustments that have been made to this year’s home games as a result of the feedback are as follows. A thorough review of our reserved parking lots as well as pre-game traffic plan was completed. The review resulted in the development of an additional colored reserved lot. Individuals
August 26 - September 1 , 2016
that previously held silver lot passes were contacted and allowed to select between continued silver parking or parking in our new yellow lot. In addition, the orange reserved lot was condensed to allow parking in closer proximity to the stadium for our game day cash parking patrons. Traffic and parking signage has been increased and relocated to areas that will allow more advanced directional notice to drivers to assist with better pre-game traffic flow. In conjunction with our food service provider, the variety of food has been increased on the Delray Hyundai Deck to include: Chick-fil-a and Rita’s Italian Ice. On the main concourse, local fare such as BC Tacos, Caribbean Cowboy, Outside the Box Company and Tomasso’s were added to increase variety and add requested vegetarian options. These are just a few of the changes that were implemented to directly address the feedback we received from our ticket purchasers and students. Detailed surveys were sent to ticket purchasers and students in an effort to measure fan satisfaction at FAU Stadium. These surveys were instituted following the first, fourth and final home games of the season. With an average time of 12 minutes to complete the in-season surveys and 22 minutes for the end of year review, fans clearly took valuable time to share their thoughts and concerns. For a more detailed review of the survey results, implemented changes and other game day information please Click Here.
By: Stephanie Fonseca The second week of preseason practices come to a close for FAU Football as they prepare for their season opener. The beginning of week two had some issues with the weather, delaying a morning practice on this past Wednesday. But the weather took a turn for the better bringing sunshine and heat for the rest of the week. With the weather out of the way, the FAU Owls went back to routine practice, focusing on the areas that needed growth. Although there was flashes of FAU’s potential passing game last season, that was an area that the coaches had to go back and hone in on. During this preseason, the coaches made this their main focus while also enhancing and maintaining their strong running game. As some key players left this past season, the ones who remained stepped up to the plate along with a good level of new talent that came in. With a good mix of old players and new talent stepping up and showing up, FAU football is hopeful for a good season. During last Tuesday’s practice, as Offensive Coordinator Travis Trickett was coming off the field with the rest of the coaching staff he saw that “...most position groups stayed out on their own to try
and get better. When your kids are starting to do that you have something. We are excited about that.” Not only is the talent showing up this season but so are the players’ determination to make this season memorable. One thing that is still up in the air is the quarterback situation. But with both potential starting quarterbacks, Driskel and Parr, being used during practices, receivers are learning to be flexible and are adjusting to both players. Observing last Saturday’s scrimmage, Head Coach Partiridge said “[I] love the quarterback battle and love where that is at. They both continue to push each other.” Coach Partiridge also disclosed that in the next week the starting quarterback could be named. On Monday, Coach Partridge announced the players who will make up this seasons five team captains. Three of them being offensive players Tyler Cameron, Kalib Woods and Dillon DeBoer, and Trey Hendrickson and Azeez Al-Shaair were the two defensive players appointed as team captains. Preseason practices continue until this Thursday, as the FAU Owls get ready for their season opening home game against Southern Illinois on Sept. 3 at 6 pm.
