Democrats lining up for a November clash that will replace an iconic member of the county’s governing board. Democrat Burt Aaronson will hang up his District 5 commission mantle after 20 years on that board – the result of term-limit laws. He has thrown his support behind his senior administrative assistant, Mary Lou Berger. She is considered the odds-on-favorite to win the

seat because of her familiarity with the area and the district’s constituency as well as her Democratic label in an area that’s heavy on “Ds”. Also looking to succeed Aaronson is Steven Meyer, a Democrat who has been endorsed by the Sun Sentinel. A third Democrat, Rick Neuhoff, a marketing consultant from West Boca, is also in the race. Young Women From PACE Center Learn Workplace and Life Skills at NCCI BOCA RATON – NCCI conducted an educational workshop for the PACE Center for Girls, providing tips and tactics on a variety of work-life aspects—from rocking an interview to incorporating healthy food and activities throughout the workday. PACE (Practical Academic Cultural Education) is a notfor-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides girls ages 12–18 with a multitude of life-skill services. The organization is one that is close to the hearts of many NCCI employees because many have teenagers and understand that a successful career begins with strong life skills and workplace experiences. “There are a lot more levels and systems than I thought,” said Taylor, 15, who wants to be a neonatal nurse when she graduates from PACE. “I really enjoyed hearing people

at NCCI talk about their jobs.” During their time at NCCI, the 22 young women from PACE participated in teambuilding games including ball toss and balance boards, one-on-one discussions with employees, role playing, presentations, and group exercise led by the director of NCCI’s fitness center. “I loved the games and the food, and the employees seem really nice,”
