Community Largest Competition in the World Attracts South Florida Gymnasts

Local Scout Is One of Nine elected to Share 2013 Scouting Achievements With Congress A delegation of nine young people from across the country— including William (Billy) McElligott of Boca Raton, from the West Central Florida Council in Seminole, Fla.—will represent the Boy Scouts of America® in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 22-27 to present the organization’s annual Report to the Nation to top U.S. officials. The report is designated in the BSA’s congressional charter and will highlight the organization’s achievements in 2013. Being selected to the Report to the Nation delegation is a tremendous honor for Billy and the Florida communities that he represents. Each Scout represents the more than 100 million Boy Scouts who have come before them and the millions who will follow. see page 5

Dedicated Youth Volunteer Inspires Students at Eagles Landing Middle School By Vickie Middlebrooks The School District of Palm Beach County has many outstanding student volunteers but Sarah Palumbo is one who stands out in the crowd. Whether it is assisting students at Eagles Landing Middle School, helping administration, attending both SAC and board meetings, volunteering at the local elementary school, or mentoring a local Science, Engineering, Communication, Mathematics Enhancement (SECME) team, Sarah does it all. The former Eagles Landing student does it all with a selfless nature of simply just wanting to do what is right. “We are thrilled to have Sarah come back to assist with so many of the projects that she herself participated in while she was a student at Eagles Landing,” principal Cynthia Chiapetta said. “It is particularly impressive since she carries such a rigorous class load at FAU high school.”
