The City of Boca Raton gave Jozy Altidore the hero’s welcome he deserved on Friday, July 18th at the Waterstone Resort & Marina. “He is our hometown hero,” Mayor Susan Haynie said. “He has achieved so much in his sport and that certainly deserves acclaim
from the community. We are all very thrilled and honored of him carrying the name of Boca Raton as his hometown.” Altidore, the 2013 Futbol de Primera Player of the Year and the 2013 U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year, was honored by Haynie and the City of Boca with his own day, Jozy
Altidore Day. “The first I heard of this it was incredible,” Altidore said. “It’s such a prestigious city in Boca Raton. I’m so happy to be here and represent the soccer team.” Continue on page 3

City of Boca Raton Honors Jozy Altidore
At a young age it was evident that Altidore had a natural talent as he would toy with children at the local parks. Josef Schulz, a longtime youth coach in Boca Raton, took note of Altidore when he was 8 years old while Altidore was playing a pickup game at Boca’s South County Regional Park and Schultz was amazed.
“Schulz played a very pivotal role for me in my career in a time where soccer wasn’t so big here in the States,” says a grateful Altidore of what Schulz did for him. As a middle school student at Loggers’ Run Middle School, Altidore harnessed his craft and after only one year he moved to Boca Raton Prep on a soccer scholarship.
Altidore, who currently holds the record for most goals by an American overseas with 39, is set to rejoin his club Sunderland AFC late next week to begin preparing for the start of the 2014 English Premier League season. More photos from event on page 16
Never Say Sorry at We Rock The Spectrum Gym
By Kathryn Wohlpart
To most people, a place where you never have to say sorry is almost everywhere — you don’t stop to think about your actions because they just seem typical to you. To a mother of a child with autism, sorry is a word that is said far too often because people around her don’t understand what is going on with her child. When Gail Field brings her son, Jayson, to the grocery and stops by the deli counter he cries because he doesn’t like to stop so she is “always saying sorry.” Gail feels as though “people need to educate themselves on autism,” because Jayson is not throwing a temper tantrum, his senses are overloaded and he is overwhelmed. Gail had a bigger dream for Jayson than constant apologies — she wanted to bring him somewhere she never had to say sorry. After researching for a place she could bring Jayson to play she stumbled upon We Rock The Spectrum Gym in California. Gail met with Dina Kimmel, the founder, to learn about franchising, and on April 19, 2014, Gail and her husband, John, opened up in Boca Raton. Kids jump on trampolines, swing, climb ropes, fly across the room on a zip line
and engage their senses. Everything in We Rock The Spectrum is made to help autistic children engage in sensory activities and healthy stimulus. “Everything is working, and it’s working for both [typical and autistic children],” said Gail, “Typical kids get to play and autistic kids get to be engaged.” Gail looks around the small room that her family has converted into a play area for all children and explains her vision of moving to a larger space in the future, expanding into water sensory activity areas and hosting adult and teen sessions as well as continuing to help younger kids. “Though some parents tell me they like that it’s small, you can sit on one side and see everything,” said Gail. One such parent sits, feeding one of her children as her son runs off to swing. “This is such a good place for him, who wanders off, it’s gated and safe. He can do what he wants without me being on top of him,” said Kristen Streit. “My son really can’t go anywhere so it’s great for the parents as well,” said John Field. John quit his job to make his and Gail’s dream happen, putting his full attention on their project. As Gail said, she “is not a business woman,” so she needed John’s help in making We Rock The Spectrum happen and he was just as excited to get it started. “You know how when kids get so excited they forget what they’re saying? That’s my favorite,” said John. To the Fields and other parents of Boca Raton, We Rock The Spectrum is a place where you never have to say sorry.

At-Risk Elementary Students Make Music By Kathryn Wohlpart
The Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund and the Boca West Foundation are working with Florida Atlantic University’s music department to send 100 at-risk elementary students to a Teaching Outstanding Performers Band Camp. Camp attendees are from South Grade Elementary, Highland Elementary, and K.E. Cunningham Canal Point Elementary schools. “It has proven to be a wonderful experience for everyone involved,” said Kyle Prescott, director of the camp and associate chair of FAU’s Department of Music. The campers will receive instruction from FAU music students and take part in private lessons. Campers will be led in music theory
classes, music appreciation classes, camp activities, and practice together as a band ensemble. “The elementary school students receive great instruction, and FAU students gain practical experience in teaching. The camp also serves as a wonderful opportunity to get these students on a college campus. And all of it wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Pew Fund and the Boca West Foundation,” said Prescott. Camp faculty will include Kyle Prescott, Emmanuel Fergile, Ken Goff, elementary band directors, and 16 FAU music students. On Friday, July 25 at 2:30 p.m., the campers will put on a final convert at FAU’s Student Union in the Live Oak Pavilion.

Knowing where you really are so you can plan where you're going. Do you really know how to position your company in the market? Or are you reading the “signs” wrong? This is one of the biggest mistakes most businesses out there render; they find themselves too important, experienced, and infallible. Incidentally, this is not only for the business world, this is true for your personal life as well. Knowing who you are and where you stand is vital, not only to succeed, but mainly to reduce stress. When you’re disoriented it is clinically proven to increase stress levels. Many people tend to be in two places at once. Let me elaborate: Where they think they are and where they actually are. Having an exact idea of where you are allows you to take the right direction to where you want to be. Just like a GPS, it locates where you are, then leads you to your destination. People tend to evaluate themselves in a much better condition than they really are. Which is a common mistake, incidentally, somewhat a forgivable mistake. As compared to a business, we assume everything is running smoothly and efficiently. People often find themselves either taking their own opinions to account or their “friends”. Stating things, such as “I have the best salon in town”, “My location is frequently visited by celebrities”, “My business serves the best and freshest popcorn on the planet!” or “My hot dog cart has buns like nobody else!” Again, it is essential to know where you
Business DOUGLAS HEIZER: C.E.O DINI HEIZER: C.O.O.
are, so you can map out where you want to be. Simple as that, right? It is dependent on leaving your pride aside and having humility to listen to the truth. Though the truth can hurt a times. It’s funny to think that many like to be frank with each other, but do not like others to be frank with them. Some people tend to think they are rich and powerful, cherished and loved. But is that really true? If you are lost and cannot relocate, a business consultant can help you evaluate at which point your business stands. As for your personal life, a psychologist can help you understand who you really are, and your religious leader will show you which spiritual position you are in. As a result, when you’ve finally found yourself and where you stand, the next step is to head towards achieving your goals, so you can gain clarity and objectivity. I hope that you find your way! Until next time!

INTEGRETY MOMENTS By Rick Boxx
Need For An Enduring, Unchanging Worldview Many universities and corporate trainers teach business ethics from a perspective sometimes referred to as "moral relativism." This basically means they do not believe in objective truth; to them, truth is in the eye of the beholder. As a result, according to this way of thinking, whatever an individual regards as right is good enough. Personally, I disagree with this philosophy. If truth is something we can mold and shape according to our desires and preference, then the person that conducts business in an unscrupulous, predatory manner is as “ethical” as the individual that seeks to uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity. The Bible describes this type of belief system when it states, “everyone did what was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25). Even thousands of years ago, people rejected the
existence of objective truth. This is not a “modern,” 21st century concept. As an employer, even if we do not subscribe to moral relativism, it is important to remember everyone has their own worldview, and they live and act according to it. For instance, if they are self-absorbed, they will likely make decisions and act according to what benefits them most. If they make decisions based on family values they have learned, that could be good – or it could be bad. What if you discover too late that they were raised by mobsters, swindlers or criminals? You might not like those “family values” being brought into your company! Although you cannot change or modify the worldviews of individual employees, you can seek to clearly communicate the “worldview” by which you want your business or department to be run. This is where
mission statements, vision statements and value statements are extremely useful. They put on paper the standards, policies, overall goals and objectives the company desires to achieve and maintain. These statements express your beliefs, the foundational principles that govern your practices, offer the “big picture” of what you hope to accomplish, and verbalize truth as your company perceives it. A big question facing many of us in the business and professional world today is one that was raised by Pontius Pilate, who served as judge at the trial of Jesus before His crucifixion. Pilate asked, “What is truth?” (John 18:38). He was suggesting truth – and the “right” worldview – is whatever one wants it to be. However, my experience has taught me that if everything is true, then nothing is true. I
have learned the only objective truth that is time-tested and will help you in standardizing and solidifying your company values is the Bible. Psalm 119:152 teaches,"Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever." Many other verses in that Psalm also affirm the enduring, unchanging truths, precepts and principles established in the Word of God. If you desire to oversee or be part of an ethical workplace, I recommend you establish a worldview that lasts forever, one that does not change according to the need of the moment or shifting whims of society. The Scriptures provide the only source for that. They worked well in the 1st century – and they are good for the 21st century as well.

POSITIVE LIVING By Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr.
Be Your Own Best Product! People who sell the best products usually get ahead! They show carefulness in their selection, in the advertising they provide, and in the manner they publically display and distribute those goods! Because the intensity of competition, whoever wishes to succeed devotes an enormous amount of time and effort to project what’s for sale in the best possible light! Although all the above is true of material, perishable items and services, the significance increases far more when the product you offer is yourself. Not that your person
is for sale in a monetary way, but your person, your credibility, your personal qualities need to be well-established before true value is ascribed to you for whatever you have to offer! Therefore, everything you say and do has a cumulative impact, for better or for worse, regarding who you are and whatever you desire to offer. Your past, however distant, can and does make a difference in establishing your credibility or detracting from it. Your previous or current pronouncements on many issues also cast a bright light or
a dark shadow on your integrity; they are portraits of your personality as exhibited in different contexts, and in varied times of ease, or at pressured moments in your daily schedule. Who you truly are needs to be manifested equally in the open as in hiding; in the presence of multitudes, or in the absence of any individual; when conditions are favorable or when advantages are lacking! To such ends, one needs to be in constant renewal; who you are today should be better than the you of yesterday and of the
day before. A life of full transparency is the only quality worth maintaining; your legitimate right to privacy does not include hiding what must be in the open to validate who you say you are! The gift of yourself, or the selling of your own self are basically the same thing, and in both instances your total integrity is the only ingredient which can ensure success, insofar as what you are offering exceeds the expectations of those seeking to benefit from it!
Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr. is a Florida resident who, for many years, was a professor at the post-graduate level. He is a writer, a sought-after conference speaker, a man who lived in five continents of the world, having received his education in four of them. When he resided in southern California, he wrote a weekly column for the daily “Anaheim Bulletin,” which was carried for about six years, until he moved to south Florida.

Attorney General Sues American Children’s Cancer Association By CRA News Service
Attorney General Pam Bondi has sued the American Children’s Cancer Association for operating an allegedly illegal raffle out of a virtual office in Boca Raton Raton Tribune has learned. According to the complaint, which references the New Jersey Corporation’s 2012 tax return, the most recent available, the organization allegedly collected just more than $116,000 in revenue in 2011, but spent less than $6,000 on program expenses. ACCA registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to solicit charitable contributions out of the virtual office without disclosing among other things, an injunction obtained against the company by the State of New Jersey. Additionally, ACCA President Shaun Heusen, Vice President Joseph Way, and Real Estate Agent Peter Kelly allegedly violated the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, Gambling Act, and Solicitation of Funds Act by soliciting charitable contributions for a “Florida Dream Home” raffle with no realistic intent or ability to award such prize, according to a release from Bondi’s office. “Taking advantage of people who are seeking to make charitable contributions to help others is deplorable, and we will hold these individuals accountable for these alleged actions,” Bondi said in the statement.
ACCA allegedly offered and sold $80 raffle tickets to give away a multi-million dollar “Florida Dream Home,” located in Lighthouse Point, Fla. According to the complaint, which references ACCA’s 2012 tax return, the most recent available, the organization allegedly collected just over $116,000 in revenue in 2011, but spent less than $6,000 on program expenses. The complaint alleges that, the defendants violated the following state laws: - The Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act by using deceptive acts and unfair practices in the marketing and sale of the Dream House Raffle tickets; - The Solicitation Funds Act by knowingly submitting false and inaccurate information to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and making false, deceptive and misleading representations to the public in connection with solicitations for the “Florida Dream Home” raffle. “The defendants are facing permanent injunction, full restitution to all consumers, civil penalties amounting to $10,000 per violation, attorney’s fees and other relief the Court may deem appropriate,” the release states. The complaint also seeks to prohibit the defendants from engaging in any business activity or operation involving the solicitation of contributions through any drawing, raffle or drawing by chance.

No Barriers to Love in “Most Happy Fella”
The rarely-performed Frank Loesser musical “Most Happy Fella” continues a limited, 12-performance run through Sunday, April 27 at Palm Beach Dramaworks, 201 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Ensemble singing is the strong suit of this distinctly dated 1956 show, based on the 1925 play “They Knew What They Wanted” by Sidney Howard. The show is almost like an operetta rather than modern Broadway musical, with more than 40 songs and the barest of sets, suggested by projected impressionistic paintings. The action is set in California’s Napa Valley in 1927, before the region became known as a wine hipster paradise. This is a concert version of the show, directed by former Caldwell Theatre artistic director Clive Cholerton. The large cast refers to manuscripts on music stands,

but the principals have it pretty much down by heart. Tony Esposito (Broadway veteran William Michals) is about as far from cool California hipster as you can be. A recent immigrant from Italy, Tony frets that he has no social graces and he barely speaks proper English. Now bald and in middle age Tony is lonely and longs for a wife. As a last resort, Tony puts out an awkward, hand-written request for a “mail-order bride” to a pretty young waitress he spots in San Francisco. To up his likelihood of acceptance, he leaves behind a treasured tie tack and a return address. He dubs the girl “Rosabella” for her beauty. When against odds she writes him back, Tony replies with a letter and a photo of his younger, handsome ranch foreman, Joe (Jim Ballard). Rosabella (Jessica Hershberg) is not her real name, but the girl we later learn is Amy
is so impressed with Tony’s passion and sincerity, she shows up at his Napa Valley vineyard, suitcase in hand. You can imagine her shock and disappointment when she learns Tony is not a handsome young stud. Furthermore he has been injured in a truck accident and is in a wheelchair, so all he really has is the pity card. The heart of Loesser’s script is Tony’s quixotic quest to win the heart of a true love he has lured by deception. Baritone Michals has been on this quest before as a most heartfelt Don Quixote last year in PBD’s production of “Man of La Mancha.” Rosabella will have her own deception to add to the romantic conflict. Pretty much the rest of “Most Happy Fella” is comic business with a diverse cast of characters led by Rosabella’s friend Cleo (Dance Captain Laura Hodos) as an otherwise cheerful waitress with sore feet; Ken Clem-

ent as a goofy postman, Shane R. Tanner as Herman, a Texan who inspires one of the score’s hits, “Big D” (as in Dallas), Jeni Hacker as Tony’s bitter, disapproving sister Marie, and in his PBD debut, Slow Burn Theatre executive director Matthew Korinko in several roles. The score’s biggest hit is the upbeat, stand-alone “Standing on the Corner.” The loveliest is the duet “My Heart is So Full of You.” The songs are in a crazy mish-mash of styles and tempos, but all beautifully sung with gorgeous harmonies, backed by two onstage pianists, including musical director Howard Breitbart. If you believe true love conquers everything, this is a show you can embrace warmly. Tickets are $40. Call 561-514-4042 or go to www.palmbeachdramaworks.org.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a “Most Wanted Man”
Philip Seymour Hoffman was brilliant at portraying complex, tortured characters. Gunther Bachmann, the downtrodden antihero of “A Most Wanted Man,” is just such a character. Based on the John Le Carre novel, adapted for the screen by Andrew Bovel and directed by Dutch-born Anton Corbijn (“The American”), “Most Wanted Man” is a complex political thriller set in 2012 in the grimy port city of Hamburg, Germany. Gunther Bachmann (Hoffman) is head of a covert German intelligence unit keeping an eye out for terrorists. The film begins with a battered suspect emerging from the sea, cloaked in a gray hoodie. We learn the man is Issa Karpov (Grigoriy Dobrygin), a Chechen-born, Muslim-raised Russian on the run. Rather than arrest the illegal alien outright, Gunther’s strategy is to observe him and see if he doesn’t lead the spies to bigger fish. One of those large fish was Issa’s late
father, who purloined a fortune from charitable donations to Muslim organizations. Gunther’s theory is that at least one of those organizations is a front for terrorist militants. Gunther further theorizes the local conduit is a respected businessman named Dr. Faisal Abdullah (Homeyoun Ershadi), whose college-age son Jamal (Mehdi Dehbi) Gunther has enlisted as an inside spy in hopes of catching Abdullah in the act. Always-reliable Willem Dafoe plays a banker who may be in on the scheme. Observing all of the above is wry American intelligence liaison, Martha Sullivan (Robin Wright, stretching her boundaries). Running interference in Gunther’s clandestine activities is a young, idealistic civil liberties lawyer named Annabel Richter (Rachel McAdams). McAdams is playing against type in this, one of her most ambitious roles to date. Hoffman chain-smokes, drinks and curses his way through the role of Gunther Bachman. By the end of the film a betrayed and defeated Gunther looks clearly unwell. This makes Hoffman’s character all the more convincing, but it is a sad reminder of an immensely talented, tragic figure who was suffering more than anyone could ever know. Rating: 1/2 stars

“Better heart, brain, and joint benefits WITHOUT the fishy after taste!”
Say Goodbye to Bad Cholesterol, Joint Pain, Mood Swings, & Brain Fog in 30 Days or Less!
Say the ‘MaGiC WorD’ & reCeive a Box oF thiS CLiniCaLLy teSteD ForMuLa - Free! ‘Super Human’ Fish Oil! Ivy league physicians affiliated with Yale University believe their patented 4:1 ratio of EPA/DHA omega-3s are the future of fatty-acid therapy and deliver almost ‘super human’ results. Prevention Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Omax3® Ultra PureTM, have decided to giveaway 1,000 boxes in a massive initiative to get consumers to try it. “We believe one dose of this high performance 1.5g of omega-3 will change your opinion of fish oil with the dramatic results,” says Terry Tormey, CEO of Prevention Pharmaceuticals. Ultra Pure Formula Equals Safety Some supplements may contain more than just omega-3. And some of that "extra" content you could do without, such as saturated fats, including unwanted omega-6 fatty acids, and toxins like mercury, lead, and PCBs commonly found in fish. Freezer Test Proves Purity Omax3® was shown in lab tests to be 91% pure, free of bad fats and toxins. You can prove this by freezing your own fish oil. Put a pill of your store bought brand of omega-3 in the freezer overnight. Then put Omax3® Ultra PureTM in the freezer overnight. The difference is clear. The store bought brand will be cloudy, even a solid white. This is caused by the bad fats and toxins solidifying, which your body doesn’t need. Omax3® will remain clear, which equals safety and effectiveness. Fewer Pills Better Results The patented delivery system gives you 1.5g per serving in just two easy to swallow liquid gel capsules, compared to the 6-12 you would need to take of a store bought formula. This means fewer pills equals greater results, you can feel. Unique Blister-Pack StopsFish Burps The color of the Omax3® oil shows you its purity. The individually blister packed capsules protect against rancidity so there’s no fishy taste or stomach upset. Clinical Study Shows it Works Better than Your Fish Oil Yale University Study Results Omax3® Ultra PureTM, in the clinical study, was shown to improve cholesterol in 30 days. Patients showed: 78% lowered cholesterol* 73% reduced triglycerides* 71% reduced LDL * Lower Cholesterol Shelly T., confirms the clinical results of Omax3®. Tension Between Working And Waiting Although I have never met a mystic, that seems like a good job to have. Sitting around all day, just thinking, occasionally coming up with something that sounds wise or profound. People around you speaking in hushed tones, fearful of disrupting your deep thought process. “Quiet, he’s contemplating.” In the 21st century business and professional world, of course, there is little place for mystics. We are action-oriented, determined to produce results quickly and in quantity. And you cannot do that by just sitting around and thinking about things. “Don’t just sit there – do something!” No time to contemplate. Is that right? Is the “Do something, anything, even if it’s wrong” approach to deadlines, projects and goals always the best approach? For many so-called “Type A” leaders, the answer would be yes. Filled with ideas, energy and resolve, they insist on keeping the wheels in motion, and the faster the better. But experience teaches that waiting often is a wiser course of “action” than working. A former colleague often used to offer this insight: “Why is it that we did not have time to do this (assignment) right the first time, but we have time to do it over again?” Another friend had a sign posted in his office that stated, “Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.” In other words, if we would be willing to slow down long enough to think things through, we might enjoy more successes – and suffer fewer mistakes. But there is another side to this question. Sometimes, despite our desires and efforts, waiting is our only option. Not being a patient person by nature, I find this difficult. But in retrospect I have often found the waiting was worthwhile. For instance,
there were times when I believed a career change was in order and felt ready to move forward immediately. Instead, circumstances demanded that I wait. When the next job opportunity presented itself, to my surprise it was better than anything I could have imagined. Here are some of the things the Bible has taught me about waiting: Trust in the One that knows the way. If you were making a trip through dangerous territory, would it help being guided by someone very familiar with the area? In life and work, we do not know what pitfalls lie ahead – but God does. At such times it helps to wait until He is ready to put us on the right course. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). Recognize that waiting does not mean inaction. Sometimes situations require us to hold our ground, remaining where we are. Other times we can take steps that seem appropriate, but still must trust God to provide what we need. “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes…. Wait for the Lord and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it” (Psalm 37:7, 34). Understand that times of waiting teach us who is in control. We like to believe we are in control of our lives. However, often circumstances are far beyond our control, leaving us no choice but to wait. These times can teach us God is truly in control – and knows exactly what He is doing. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).

Is Credit Card Debt driving you batty? Let Consolidated Credit Help You:
Broward or Palm Beach County? Q:
My wife and I resided in Jacksonville, Duval County, when we separated about ten years ago. We litigated our divorce in Duval County, and had a trial, because we could not settle our case. As a result, I was ordered to pay her permanent alimony and child support. I re-married, she did not. Coincidentally we both moved to south Florida, me to Boca Raton and the wife to Deerfield Beach. We live minutes away from one another. Over the last eight months, the good living I made as a car salesman disappeared, as people virtually stopped buying new cars at my dealership. I got behind in my alimony and child support. My brother is an attorney here and he prepared and filed papers in Broward County to lower my alimony and child support payments. At the same time, my wife hired a Boca Raton attorney who filed a contempt case against me in Palm Beach County. Coincidentally both cases were filed the same day, and each of the two Summonses was served the same day, yesterday. Do we have to each pursue our own cases in both courts? Is there one court, which will have control over both cases? How do we straighten this out?
A:
Unlike original divorce cases, which should only be filed in the county in which a couple last lived as husband and wife, modifications and contempt motions can be filed by either of you in the county where you live, or in the county where the other person lives. In appellate decisions, the Florida Supreme Court has ruled that jurisdiction in such cases attaches “when the process is first perfected”, meaning served upon the other person. Recently, when a summons was

While both courts would have “jurisdiction” over both cases, the “venue” for the case would usually lie in the county in which the process was first served. “Jurisdiction” means the court, which has the power to adjudicate the issues in the case. In your cases this would be either county. “Venue” means the location where the case should be heard. If neither of your attorneys attempts to consolidate the cases in one county or the other, the cases can both go forward, in separate counties, as both courts have “jurisdiction.” That would not be cost effective. If either counsel seeks to consolidate the cases in one county or the other, the case should go to the county in which process was served first. There is an exception, which probably does not apply here, because the two of you live so close to one another, and grounds for your cases appear to be local in origin. If you lived far apart, and the records and witnesses who were necessary to prove the cases were, for example in your case, all in Duval County, one of you might seek to have the cases consolidated, and transferred to Duval County. As the origin of the final judgment, Duval County’s circuit court would be a third circuit, which would have jurisdiction, and that forum might be considered “more convenient” because of the location of the witnesses. It appears that the witnesses and documents in your case for modification, and her witnesses and documents in her case for contempt would all be found in south Florida, so no further change of venue would be called for.

Real Estate The Boca Raton Tribune
Homes Inside and Out By Joshua Carlson
Real Estate Market Inventory Indicator home. For example, a high absorption rate indicates that a home seller will sell their home in a shorter period of time. Another way to use this rate as an indicator, is that you can compare the absorption rates to a previous time period. When doing so, the rate indicates how the inventory is reacting as homes are being sold. For example, a declining figure indicates that the inventory is decreasing as more homes are being sold which indicates homes are selling at a faster pace and less of a time frame. Home developers use this indicator to know when it is a good time to start building new homes. This calculation does not take into account the new homes that come onto or enter into the market. The absorption rate is calculated by dividing the total number of available homes by the average number of sales per month for a designated period of time. For your neighborhood or local area absorption rate you can contact me at 561929-8874 or CarlsonRealtor@gmail.com.
Is Boca Raton Home inventory growing or shrinking? That is the question many people would like to know. By analyzing the absorption rate we can determine the inventory levels and what direction the market is heading. We can also determine whether it is a Buyer or Seller’s market. Don’t worry if these terms sound foreign to you. I will break it down into a way you will understand and then tell you where the current inventory level is for the Boca Raton area. ABOUT ABSORPTION RATE: What is absorption rate and what does this tell us about the local market? Absorption rate is the rate at which homes are sold in the local market during a specific given time period. In other words, the rate shows show how many months it will take to completely sell the supply of homes on the market. Knowing this rate will help you track trends within the real estate market. There are 2 ways you can use the absorption rate as an indicator. By looking at this number it can indicate, on average, how long it will take a home seller to sell their

June Foreclosure Statistics By Kathryn Wohlpart
Palm Beach County’s foreclosure statistics for June 2014 shows an improvement. Last year, for the first six months of 2013, 6,454 new foreclosure cases were filed compared to this year’s 3,199 cases showing a 50.4 percent decrease. This decrease in filings is a trend continuing within the past few months as well with 548 cases this May and only 497 this June. “The first six months of 2014 were the lowest number of new foreclosure case filings since the first six months of 2006,” said
LIC. & INS.
Clerk Sharon Bock. A small decrease, one noted as not significant according to Clerk Bock, in the mortgages and deeds recorded in Palm Beach County was also recorded from last year to this year and between the previous couple of months. “Our case filings are stable. While it is good to keep an eye on foreclosure case filings, the numbers that I believe are just as important to watch are the number of deeds and mortgages recorded with our office. Those numbers were down in June, but not to a significant degree,” said Bock.

California Pizza Kitchen Selects its Boca Raton Location To Debut its Reimagined Menu
California Pizza Kitchen, the authority on California-style pizza and industry leader in creative dining, has announced the debut of its reimagined menu in the newly remodeled Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale restaurants. The enhanced menu, which still features California Pizza Kitchen’s signature hand-tossed California-style pizzas, pastas and salads, incorporates new Main Plates, unique seasonal offerings, Lunch Duos and handcrafted cocktails made with fresh juices, fruits, purées and herbs. Town Center at Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale are the first locations in Florida – and among the first in the country - to roll out the new menu. To date, other reimagined locations with the new menu include Market Square at Arden Fair in Sacramento and the first-ever California Pizza Kitchen location in Beverly Hills, Calif. The carefully curated
menu represents the second phase in the transformation of the Florida restaurants, both of which recently underwent extensive remodels that serve as an elevated backdrop to a reimagined dining experience. “We are excited for our guests in South Florida to experience all that our new menu has to offer,” says California Pizza Kitchen CEO G.J. Hart, whose vision is taking the company back to its roots of innovation and authenticity, from the food to the restaurant design to the service. “The menu has been designed to include unique offerings made with seasonal and unexpected ingredients in every category.” New additions to the Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale California Pizza Kitchen menu include the following: • MAIN PLATES Fire-Grilled Ribeye A 12-oz. USDA choice ribeye grilled with housemade Pinot Noir sea salt and topped with creamy bleu cheese butter. Served with roasted fingerling potatoes and lemon-garlic arugula salad. Pairs well with Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon. Hearth-Roasted Halibut Wild caught from the Aleutian Islands, roasted on a cedar plank with butternut squash farro and grilled asparagus. Pairs well with Clos du Bois Unoaked Chardonnay.

• BEVERAGES The new beverage menu features a wide selection of handcrafted cocktails made with fresh juices, fruits, purées and herbs. Among them are the California Roots, made with Svedka Vodka, fresh avocado and mint, fresh Agave Sour with a fennel salt rim; The Executive Decision, with Casamigos Blanco Tequila, muddled mint, fresh Agave Sour, Monin Organic Agave Nectar and fresh lime; and the Blueberry Ginger Smash, with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Monin Organic Agave Nectar, Domaine de Canton Ginger liqueur, fresh blueberries, lime and cranberry juice.
• SEASONALLY INSPIRED Sunny Side Up Bacon + Potato Pizza Shaved fingerling potatoes, Nueske’s applewood smoked bacon, caramelized leeks, Parmesan, Mozzarella and fresh cracked black pepper. Topped with two sunny-sideup eggs. - Maine Lobster Flatbread Maine Lobster, mayo, fresh herbs, arugula and shaved red onions on a Parmesan flatbread. - Harvest Kale Salad Baby kale, toasted farro, heirloom carrots, napa cabbage, red grapes, marinated cranberries, almonds and goat cheese tossed with housemade citrus vinaigrette. - Roasted Garlic Chicken + Seasonal Vegetables Crispy-skin chicken breast in lemon-garlic sauce,
Airtab: A Gifting App That Keeps Giving
A new gifting app is set to change how people pay their bar tabs with future upgrades that will make buying concert and sporting events tickets just as easy. Airtab, created by Perfect Vodka CEO and Chairman Dennis Cunningham, “is a mobile gifting app that is well-positioned to revolutionize the future of mobile drink gifting due to its unique ability that allows users to not only gift, but donate to charity at the time of purchase, and free of charge.” Users can send friends, coworkers, and family a drink from afar or when they are sitting side-by-side using Airtab. “Imagine it’s your best friend’s birthday but your home with
with hearth-roasted cauliflower, fingerling potatoes and Mediterranean herbs.
• LUNCH DUOS Guests can choose any two options from a selection of 7’’ pizzas, salads, half sandwiches (with the option to order a full size) and soups. Examples of pairings include California Pizza Kitchen’s Original BBQ Chicken Pizza with a Caesar Salad; a Shaved Mushroom + Spinach Pizza and the new Farmers Market Soup, with roasted squash, market vegetables and a touch of cream; a half Oven-Roasted Turkey + Brie Sandwich with a Super Spinach + Quinoa Salad, and the list of possibilities goes on, to accommodate any mood and any palate.
• REMODEL Town Center at Boca Raton and Ft. Lauderdale’s recent remodel incorporates flexible seating with fewer booths and more tables to comfortably accommodate a variety of diners and groups. New dishes, glassware and utensils further complement the upscale-yet-relaxed aesthetic. California’s environmental roots are evident in the use of unfinished reclaimed wood, and warm, inviting colors are used throughout. Elements such as a living herb wall inside the restaurant reflect a commitment to using fresh, local ingredients.

Women’s Soccer Adds Lockwood as Assistant Coach
By Chad Beattie
Less than a month on the job and Lynn University’s new head women’s soccer coach Cally Morrill has filled out her coaching staff with the announcement of HB Lockwood as assistant coach. Morrill did not have to look far for Lockwood as he
By Chad Beattie
served as her assistant at Lenoir-Rhyne last season. “I am excited and thrilled to have [HB] Lockwood join me at Lynn University,” said Morrill. “His deep knowledge of soccer, and in particular goalkeeping, is going to be a fantastic asset for this program.” Lockwood joined Lenoir-Rhyne in the spring of 2013, serving as the assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs. Under his guidance, the women’s side posted a goals-against average under 1.00 while the men’s team had their first winning season since 2010. This would be Lockwoods second stint as a dual-program assistant, having served in both capacities at Anderson in his first-ever coaching position. Both Trojans’ keepers,
Katilyn Neipp and Lukas Hesse succeeded under his tutelage during the 2012 season. Neipp posted a school-record 10 shutouts with a 1.02 GAA and .850 save percentage, earning Second Team All-Southern Athletic Conference honors and ranking 35th in the nation in save percentage. Hesse was a Second Team All-SAC selection, Third Team All-Southeast Region and was named the Food Lion SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Lockwood graduated from Limestone Cum Laude in December of 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in sports management, business marketing and business administration following a five-year playing career with the Saints. A two-year captain (2010 & 2011), Lock-
wood went 20-10-1 with six shutouts and a 1.67 GAA as goal keeper. In addition to his time with Limestone, Lockwood played in the USL PDL for three seasons, including two with the Northern Virginia Royals and one with the Vermont Voltage, where he was named to the PDL Team of the Week in June of 2011. Besides his coaching experience with Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson, Lockwood has previously coached with the South Carolina Olympic Development Program, assisting with the 1998 boy’s squad, at T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, S.C., Carolina Elite Soccer Academy and for the Vermont Voltage Soccer Camps.
Men’s Soccer Announces 2014 Schedule
Lynn University head men’s soccer coach John Rootes announced the team’s 2014 schedule on Monday afternoon. The Fighting Knights’ 15-game regular season slate begins in Mississippi on September 5, and ends October 29, at Nova Southeastern. “I'm really excited about opening the season with two very strong Gulf South Conference opponents,” said Rootes, who enters his seventh season at the helm of the Blue & White. “This will give us a good idea of where we are in the development
of our team after preseason training before we tackle our Sunshine State Conference Schedule.” Mississippi College meets up with Lynn for the first time ever when the two schools clash in Clinton, Miss. The Fighting Knights then make their way to Delta State to complete their Mississippi trek on the opening weekend of play. Fellow GSC institutions Shorter and Lee then make their way to Bobby Campbell Stadium for the Wyndham Deerfield Beach Resort Soccer Classic on September 12-13.
Lynn’s match-up against Shorter will be the first home night game in program history. The Blue & White then take on Nova Southeastern and Rollins home and away as well as Palm Beach Atlantic later in the season in non-conference action. League play begins September 27, when Lynn hosts rival Tampa. Other SSC schools coming to Boca Raton will be Rollins (Oct. 7), Florida Southern (Oct. 11) and Saint Leo (Oct. 25). The Fighting Knights travel to Barry (Oct. 1), Eckerd (Oct. 4) and Florida Tech (Oct. 15) before concluding

the regular season at Nova Southeastern (Oct. 29). The opening round of the Sunshine State Conference Championship begins November 4, and moves on to the top-seed for games on November 7 and 9. Lynn returns 10 letterwinners, including seven starters, from last season’s squad which went 11-5-2 overall, 6-2 in the SSC and reached the SSC Championship finals.

NEED A BOOST?
Pitching Technique On any normal pitch shot, never hold the club with your right palm faced open to the direction you have aimed the clubface. You can grip the club with the right palm faced in three general positions. If it faces to the right of the direction that the club is aimed, it is facing open. If this palm faces in the same direction as the club is aimed, it is facing square. If it faces to the left of the club's aim it is facing closed. The problem with an open palm at address is that it promotes striking the ball with the clubface itself closed to the left. The ball flies too low and carries too little backspin for it to stop quickly upon landing. Why does facing the right palm to the right at address increase the risk of closing he clubface to the left at contact? Because the right palm will instinctively tend to square itself at contact, just as it would if you clapped your hands together. Because of the right hand's natural tendency to swing toward a square facing
at contact, we can derive the following relationships. Gripping with the right palm faced open, encourages the clubface to be closed to it's path, at contact. Gripping with the right palm square, in the same direction that the clubface is aimed, encourages the clubface to be square to it's path, at contact. Gripping with the right palm closed, to the left of where the club is aimed, encourages the clubface to be open, facing to the right of the path, at contact. A closed right hand is best for playing a cut pitch shot and a square right hand position is best for playing a straight pitch shot. So check your grip carefully when you start practicing pitch shots and you will learn to develop different types of shots just by changing the right palm grip. For more detailed instruction on the short game contact Stan at 561-699-2616.
