City of Boca Raton’s Planning and Zoning Division Goes Digital with E-Plans Program prove accountability and provide transparency for all parties involved. The plan review process includes internal and external agencies. City departments including municipal services, fire, police and utilities each review the plans, and outside agencies including, AT & T, the Lake Worth Drainage District and even the Boca Raton Airport Authority also review the plans. According to Jim Bell, Acting Development Services Deputy Director, “There can be as many as 20 people reviewing documents, asking for clarification, making changes and comments. You can imagine how important communication is, and how one missing or incomplete document, or a delay by one agency or department can really prolong the review.” As part of the new process, a pre application meeting will be required. “Staff will provide a checklist to help customers gather all required plans and documents,” said Elizabeth Eassa, City Planner. “We want to make sure that applications are complete for the online submittal.” Completed applications will then be entered into the system and once the project is created, the client can upload all drawings and documents to the file.

Customers and reviewers can then see where the project is in the process, and can see online reviews and comments. Email notification will be sent with each step of the process. Online resubmittals will also expedite the review by reducing trips to City Hall and eliminating new copies of plans and drawings. “This move to bring the Planning and Zoning Division online is part of a broader effort to increase efficiency, collaboration and document management among city departments, and to support a green initiative,” said Sherilee Fairweather, the City’s Business System Analyst who managed the project. The Planning and Zoning Division is offering free training prior to the August 1 “Go Live” date. The two hour classes will provide training on how to use the new E Plans program, including specifics such as digital signatures, file naming conventions, file requirements, and resubmittals. Training will be held at 2:00 PM in the City Hall Council Chambers onWednesday, July 27, Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29, 2016. No reservations are required. For additional information about trainings please call 561-393-7789.

A Large-Scale Act of Kindness Have you ever found yourself wishing for a hug? I mean, an arm gently around your neck or a warm embrace to send a simple message of caring. Last Saturday morning, I had one of the greatest experiences in a long time when I found myself among about 15 local residents giving away hugs and high-fives in Delray Beach. Local resident and community servant Chuck Halberg organized the movement to give the All-America City residents an inexpensive way to do something positive for his community. The idea was sparked in the wake of recent violence between police officers and the public in Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights, Minnesota; and Dallas. The week of tragedies had been tough on people emotionally and mentally and Chuck decided the city needed just a little more love. He saw a need to bridge the divide, so, being the kind and pure-hearted American he is, Chuck organized it the “Free Hugs”. He had seen Ken Nwadike Jr’s. ‘Straight

Outta Compton — Hug tha Police’ video on social media and shared it, with the plan to do something locally. Someone asked him when and where, and as the saying goes, “It caught on like wildfire.” Earlier this year, Nwadike, a young black man wearing a black T-shirt, that reads “FREE HUGS” with a matching, hand-held sign, filmed himself as he approached police officers in Los Angeles. Officers opened their arms wide to embrace, some saying they were hoping he’d come give them a hug. Most recently, we saw him opening his arms to supporters at a Donald Trump rally and a Bernie Sanders rally. At 11 a.m. Saturday, the group of residents — black, white, young and old — left the Café Bleu and headed west along Atlantic Avenue. They hugged any and almost everyone with a pulse along the way. Most accepted hugs, a handful, maybe three, declined and a few, instead, offered handshakes. I must also mention, among the group

were several people who are huggers to their core. They stopped at the Green Market and the Fairfield Hotel. Between the raindrops, they dashed into convenience stores, barber shops and hugged patrons in chairs. Many people stopped to get their free hug, some even posed for a picture. A man from Savannah, Georgia, was travelling to a ministers’ convention in Broward, stopped at a gas station and was shocked to see the love he received from the group. “Absolutely!” he said when Michael Coleman, the Community Improvement director asked him if he could give him a hug. “That’s how God would have wanted it to be. With all the frightening, sorrowful, tragic things happening in our world today, I think everybody needs a hug.” The scenes generated smiles and tears — and a wave of people paying the random act of kindness forward. In two hours, they gave and got around

450 hugs and a few fist bumps from strangers. I am sure something as simple and inexpensive as what I dubbed, Saturday’s “Squeeze along the Ave” brightened someone’s day especially if they were having a hard time or going through something. With everything that is going on in this country, I see clearly what Chuck was trying do. He was just being a tiny pebble in the pool hoping to create that ripple. He was just trying to be the difference and the change that we want to see in the world, that’s all. All it took was something simple as giving a hug. I also think it was a way to get the Delray Beach community connected to the conversation around homelessness, addictions, mental illness and poverty. Initiatives such as Saturday’s “Squeeze along the Ave” help change the narrative around those issues.

POSITIVE LIVING By Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr.

Leaders Depend on Followers! There are persons who wish to be recognized as leaders on account of a position they occupy. Yet, if no one is following them, the title cannot rightfully be applied to them, and it makes very little difference, if any. The very idea of leadership entails followers, to justify the use and application of the term “leader.” Interestingly, before anyone can be a leader, he or she must first be a follower also, observing certain guidelines which, then, can be passed on to others who are now following such person. And once someone begins to act as a leader, such person must continue to seek new guidelines and abide by them in the tasks they are to fulfill and the example they must set before those

depending on their leadership. Leadership entails ever learning new paths to take the followers along, with fresh, relevant ideas to inspire and further prepare every current or potential follower. It also signifies being able to revise personal habits and patterns so as to help advance the followers to where they need to go and to what they must experience for the success desired and anticipated! A leader often fulfills some of the same tasks the followers are performing; a genuine leader is not just a distant boss but an involved colaborator. A true leader should never depend solely on one’s own insights. They may be good, but can also be improved. They may be outdated and require the necessary revi-

sions which others can inform and even help implement. Or they can also be quite bad, and should be prevented from further implementation! Followers will always need to know where they are going in following their leader, since personal capacities vary, individual limitations are a major factor when it comes to certain aspects of a task which, otherwise, can be achieved with brilliance and legitimate good results. Leaders, sincerely and proactively, have to consider the best interests of their followers by being clear communicators of their vision and expectations, kind in the face of errors committed, approachable at all times, and never impossible to be reached for any

emergency. As I once read, “if you want to be the top banana, you should not detach yourself from the bunch.” Several institutions have persons who have become leaders by default and who, in so many cases, are incapable of doing the job, in the manner the work needs to be conducted. Unless lines of communication between leaders and followers are perennially open both ways, little progress can be made. Leaders and followers have to study their roles continuously so as to improve them always, as they move forward, whatever the cause or project may be!

Dr. Synesio Lyra, Jr. is a Florida resident who, for many years, was a professor at the post-graduate level. He is a writer, a sought-after conference speaker, a man who lived in five continents of the world, having received his education in four of them. When he resided in southern California, he wrote a weekly column for the daily “Anaheim Bulletin,” which was carried for about six years, until he moved to south Florida.

Lynn Goes Smoke-and TobaccoFree in August Florida Atlantic University implemented a tobacco-free policy across all campuses on Jan. 1, 2015 to “create a healthier environment for all students, faculty, employees, vendors and visitors,” according to the university’s website. Lynn instituted three designated smoking zones in 2014, which was warmly received by students and faculty members, according to the release. KOR then put the idea of a completely smoke- and tobacco-free campus to a vote with the student body, which received overwhelming support, officials said. The university’s Cabinet endorsed the results this month. David Gibson, a KOR member, said they wanted to learn what the Lynn community thought about smoking, and they realized that a great majority of students and faculty were in favor of going smoke-free simply for the health benefits, according to the release. “We are proud Lynn will be a smokeand tobacco-free campus next academic year,” Gibson was quoted in the release. Lynn understands that establishing a smoke- and tobacco-free campus may be a hardship for smokers and for those attempting to quit, university officials said. Tobacco cessation programs and resources are available for students, via the Health Center, and employees, via Employee Services, who wish to quit smoking (or using other tobacco products). Students at Lynn University will soon have to smoke tobacco products off campus thanks to a student-led initiative, which takes effect Aug. 1. The move is intended to safeguard the well-being of Lynn’s students, employees and the community at large, university officials said. “This was the first issue our student government, the Knights of the Roundtable (KOR), wished to tackle when they organized in 2012,” said Phil Riordan, vice president for Student Affairs, according to a release on the school’s website. “Our adoption of the policy is a reflection of the hard work these students put into surveying their peers, speaking with faculty and proposing the new policy to the Cabinet.” About 500 campuses across the country have enacted 100 percent smoke-free or tobacco-free policies as of July 1 and about1,000 are being fully tobacco-free, according to a report from American Nonsmokers’ Rights Foundation, an educational nonprofit organization. Although policy enforcement varies from school to school, most prohibit smoking on all campus grounds, including athletic stadiums, restaurants and parking lots. The report also said that a rapidly growing number of campuses (710) now prohibit the use of e-cigarettes, or vaping, anywhere on campus. The notion of 100 percent smoke-free campuses began popping up across the United States in the early 2000s.

Spirit of Giving to Host Annual Back to School Bash on August 6th

The Spirit of Giving is thrilled to announce that its annual Back To School Bash, an event that aims to prepare children for the upcoming school year by providing them with all the supplies they will need for school. The event will take place Saturday, August 6th at the Delray Beach Village Academy. The Back to School Bash is part of Boca Chamber Festival Days – a series events held at different locations during the month of August – and is facilitated by the Boca Chamber. Spirit of Giving has teamed up with Bell Rock Capital for this Chamber Festival Day event. The event aims to provide local children with new backpacks full of grade-appropriate supplies, uniforms, new shoes, haircuts, healthy snacks, vision screenings and access to medical resources and information. At the event, students will be paired with a volunteer personal shopper to assist them in selecting their own backpack and supplies. The Spirit of Giving is a collaborative, non profit organization with a focus on children and families in Palm Beach County. Boca Raton Regional Hospital will also return to hold their Family Health Carnival at the Bash, featuring health resources, education, and screenings. Beginning at just $50 and ranging up to $15,000, all donations support a specific program for the Back to School Bash to ensure all children are prepared for a new school year. Sponsorships are available on

a first come first serve basis. All sponsors will have their names and logos on all press releases, printed materials and website, and will also receive a tax-deductible thank you later. Unfortunately, each year the number of students grow and the needs are always greater. The event is in need of donations of new or nearly new athletic shoes. We have partnered with In Jacob’s Shoes to help provide new shoes for these children. They are looking for more volunteers to get involved and help with set up and stuffing backpacks and with various shifts to help with registration and assisting the children as personal shoppers as their parents receive complimentary health care screenings. In addition to the Back to School Bash, the Spirit of giving is also hosting a kick off event, “Sip, Shop, & Savor” at Mizner Park on Thursday, July 21, 2016. The event will take place all day and will feature promotions from Kendra Scott, J.McLaughlin & Sugarboo & Co. with % givebacks to benefit the Spirit of Giving’s Back to School Bash. Max’s Grille will participate as well with a “kids eat free” night. Visit the website at www.spiritofgivingnetwork.com to volunteer, sponsor or donate or for more information about either of these events. Six Candidates Fight for Two Seats on the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District Board By Caylin Hirapara

Two commissioners of the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District are up for reelection on this year. This year, the local race has become interesting, with the incumbents, Dr. Dennis Frisch and Earl Starkoff each drawing two opponents. Boca Raton Beach and Park commissioners are paid $80 for each meeting they attend and meet twice a month. Their main job is to manage Boca’s $46 million budget and to oversee the parks and beaches. In total there are eight members of the board. Fighting for seat number one is incumbent Dennis Frisch, Craig Ehrnst, and Shayla Enright. The current holder of seat number one is Dr. Dennis Frisch, 61, a graduate of Boca Raton High School and the University of Florida. He is a locally practicing Podiatric Surgeon and earned his medical degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He has been a member of the city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board since 2007 and was first elected to the beach and park commission in 2008. The second candidate is Shayla Enright, 26, a medical physicist. She earned a dual bachelor’s degrees in physics and chemistry at Florida Atlantic University in 2011 and a Professional Science Master’s degree in medical physics in 2014 also at FAU. Last year she continued her education by earning a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Miami. While this is her first time running for office, her mother Jean Enright is on the Port of Palm Beach Commission. The third Candidate for Seat 1 is Craig

Ehrnst, 52, who is a corporate treasurer at NCCI Holdings in Boca. He has a masters degree in from University of Michigan in Business Administration. Ehrnst ran for City Council in 2014 and lost narrowly. He is on the board for the Boca Raton Children’s Museum as well as the Boca Raton YMCA. He spent three years on the city’s Financial Advisory Board. The other Seat coming up for election is seat 3 where current commissioner Earl Starkoff will face John Costello, and Erin Wright. The incumbent, Earl Starkoff, 67, has an MBA from the University of Miami and is finishing up his 12th year on the commission. He is also past president of the Soccer Association of Boca Raton. The second candidate is John Costello, 47, who was born and raised in Boca Raton, and has a degree from the University of Florida in forest resources and conservation. This is his first run for office. Celebrate the USA with “1776”

Charlotte’s Travels

On Sunday evening, my travels took me to the Via Mizner Country Club for Steve Fox’s White Party. A crowd of approximately 300 people were in attendence with many familiar faces in the crowd. A lively band, Cachet had many dancers up on their feet dancing the nite away.

“1776” is no ordinary history lesson. It is a moderately successful 1969 Broadway show with singing, dancing, and yes history, all keyed to the days leading up to America’s Declaration of Independence. The Palm Beach Dramaworks production of said show runs through July 24 at 201 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. I saw “1776” long ago at Jan McArt’s Royal Palm Dinner Theatre. I can’t say I remember a single song from that show. That’s because Sherman Edwards’ score is not your typical Broadway fare. It is largely incidental music, designed to move the story along. If there is anything to be taken away from this show, it’s that democracy is messy. Since the earliest days of our nation, people have been at cross purposes. The Declaration of Independence, so eloquently composed by Thomas Jefferson (Clay Cartland), was no unilateral decision. There was a lot of in-fighting, not the least of which was the issue of slavery. Palm Beach Dramaworks has a taken a different approach to this sprawling musical. Director Clive Cholerton has cast just 13 people for more than 30 roles. This means that all but the central role of John Adams, played by Gary Cadwallader, are

called to play double and even triple roles. This can lead to confusion at times, especially when a female is playing a male role, as is the case with Mallory Newbrough (Martha Jefferson and a courier); Sandi Stock (Robert Livingston, Charles Thomson and a dancer, and Laura Hodos, who plays the principal role of Abigail Adams and notable Declaration signer John Hancock. Hodos has the best voice of the female cast, which serves her well on the duets “Til Then,” “Your, Yours Yours,” and especially the solo “Compliments.” Peter Stone’s book probably takes some liberties with the actual personalities of the founding fathers. Thomas Jefferson (Clay Cartland) is portrayed as a romantic, madly in love with his wife (Mallory Newbrough). Cartland comes back to play Georgia legislator Dr. Lyman Hall. Benjamin Franklin (Allan Baker) is the Renaissance man; inventive, genius, argumentative and sexually frisky. Hanging heavily over the optimistic beginnings of the USA is the spectre of slavery, which is brought forth most vividly with Shane R. Tanner’s rendition of “Molasses to Rum to Slaves.” The five-piece onstage combo is handled with the deft direction of Craig Ames. It’s not that often that violin (Dale Sandvold) plays such a prominent part, but the guy who amazed me most was Mark Ligonde, who is only 17, doubling on bass and trombone. Then there is percussionist Julie Jacobs, who plays practically every instrument in the book. I must admit I got more out of “1776” than the first time around. Kudos to Clive Cholerton, his cast and crew. Tickets are $65, with group discounts available. Call 561-514-4042, ext. 2 or go to www.palmbeachdramaworks.org.

 Expect delays on two Boca Raton roads throughout the next 10 days. Crews working on the Brightline passenger rail system will close Northwest 28th Street at the railroad tracks near Dixie Highway beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. Saturday. Then, from 7 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. July 28 crews will close Northeast Second Street, also at the tracks near Dixie Highway.  Boca Raton City Councilman Scott Singer had more than 100 constituents at his July 12 Coffee & Conversation, which was twice the usual number for his update and listening sessions. Singer also serves as chairman of the Community Redevelopment Agency that governs and meets on the downtown district. So the usual hot-button topics like downtown traffic and parking, taxes and a park vs. a restaurant on the old Wildflower site generated talk. When the mayor returns to Boca Raton, she plans to improve transportation with strategies she learned during her trip to the White House. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx invited Haynie, who is also chair of the Palm Beach Metropolitan Planning Organization, to a July 12 roundtable in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. There, Haynie joined more than two dozen mayors and top planners from across the country in a discussion about advancing regional transportation priorities. The days of multiple trips to Boca Raton City Hall for liquor licenses, zoning requests and other approvals will soon be a thing of the past. Beginning Aug. 1, the city’s planning and zoning department will accept applications and development plans online.  Commissioners of the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park district voted

Feeling Badly When We Have It Good

unanimously not to raise taxes for district residents for the 2016-17 fiscal year, which starts Oct. 1. It’s intended to have the district only get the same amount of money next year as it received this year.  It’s game on this month in Boca Raton as three Olympic-bound teams make the city their last stop on the path to Rio 2016. The 2016 Summer Olympics will kick off Aug. 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But before heading to the summer games, Olympic men’s soccer teams from Argentina and Colombia will play a practice match at Florida Atlantic University, and Canada’s synchronized swimming duet will train at Boca Raton Community High School.  Roughly four years in the making, the new U.S. Customs and Border Protection Facility at Boca Raton Airport is getting off the ground. Crews from Lake Worthbased West Construction are set to begin work this month on the 4,700-square-foot facility. Airport officials say it will take $4.3 million and about one year to complete the building. As is, international flights have to first stop at nearby airports before landing in Boca Raton. The new facility will provide those flights a safer, more efficient way to land, without having to clear customs at other airports.  The Kolter Group is finishing the first batch of three-story townhomes in a new gated development in Boca Raton. Kolter said 30 units at Moderne Boca will be ready by late August, and the developer hopes to have 15 to 20 contracts in place by then. Kolter plans to start sales of the remaining 45 units in the fall, with the entire project due to be complete by the end of 2017. The two- and three-bedroom townhomes range from 2,128 to 2,794 square feet, prices range from $589,000 to $849,000 and will include a swimming pool and fitness center. It is at Spanish River Boulevard and Military Trail.

More than 20 years ago, the September 14, 1992 issue of Forbes magazine carried an article entitled, “Why Do We Feel So Bad When We Have It So Good?” I kept the issue because there has not been a time since then, or at any time before for that matter, when this has not been the case. For some reason we have a tendency, even at the best of times, to moan and groan about things being or becoming bad. Part of the problem, it seems, is that politicians spend much of their time telling us how bad off we are, individually and as a society. They issue broad promises that they will make things better. That is, if they are elected. Both incumbent officials and those aspiring to public office assure us they want to “make our country great again,” implying that at some unspecified time in the past, things were better. But making us feel badly when things actually are good is not the exclusive domain of politics – or the media. Some people simply have a predisposition toward pessimism, a “glass half-empty” way of looking at life. Other people take a totally different perspective, leaning decisively toward optimism, wearing the proverbial rose-colored eyeglasses to view containers that are half-full. Philosophers, very adept at being able to support whichever perspective you prefer, assert that whether you think things are getting better or are convinced they are getting worse, you are correct. We always find what we are looking for. Personally, I am one of those glass half-full types. Yes, we can find reasons to complain, but the many opportunities we have today are unprecedented. We have the world at our fingertips for the first time in history. As a result, it is easier than ever for creative, energetic, industrious people to start busi-

nesses. But therein lies the secret: Being creative, energetic and industrious. We cannot wait for opportunities to suddenly appear on our doorsteps. We must seek them aggressively, and then pursue them with great determination. From a spiritual perspective, our faith and trust in God should give us even more reason for abounding optimism. The Bible assures us that we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens us” (Philippians 4:13), and also, “my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). So in one respect, it begins with our attitude and our outlook. The apostle Paul made reference to this when he wrote, “Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Galatians 6:7-8). As a professional photographer, my job is to find the best in people and look for beauty in everything. I have no trouble finding it. I have discovered that if you look for beauty and excellence in everything and everyone, it is easy to see. As business and professional people, we have the privilege – and the responsibility – to model this approach for our companies, our colleagues, and our customers. When Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14), He was calling each of His followers to shine the light of His love, grace and hope, even at times when things truly do seem dark. We should be ready at all times to demonstrate that even when things seem to be taking a negative turn, the “worst of times” can be the best of times as we follow Jesus.

Strikers Announce Move To Central Broward Stadium

Beginning in August 2016, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers will play all North American Soccer League (NASL) home matches at Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill, Fla. The club has undertaken the move in order to enhance the fan experience and gameday amenities. Fort Lauderdale will open at Central Broward Stadium on August 20 against Ottawa Fury FC. Tickets to the match are now available for purchase on Strikers.com. “The move to Central Broward Stadium allows us to focus on our fans and improving the experience of attending a Strikers match -- a critical pillar of the club’s long-term success,” said Strikers Managing Director Luis Cuccatti. “It was important for the club to initially prioritize our coaching and playing resources this season, and now that has allowed for us to shift our focus toward enhancing everything surrounding our fan experience. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership between the Strikers and Broward County, and the future successes of our new home.” Central Broward Stadium is conveniently located at the junction of State Road 7 and Sunrise Boulevard in Lauderhill. The

facility, which will also serve as the Strikers training center, features four full-size soccer fields, in addition to the multi-use 5,000-covered-seat stadium that hosts FC Barcelona Soccer School, Caribbean carnivals, and international cricket matches, among other events. The venue has been used by Major League Soccer (MLS) for its annual combine for several years. The facility has also played host to multiple preseason friendlies between MLS teams. “We’re happy that the Fort Lauderdale Strikers have decided to relocate to Central Broward Stadium and keep professional soccer in Broward County,” said Park Manager Duncan Finch. “The County made a crucial additional investment to the multiuse stadium by relocating two light posts behind the covered-seating area, which brings the soccer field closer to the fans. This improvement convinced the Strikers to make the move to Central Broward Stadium, and to work with the County toward a long-term agreement.” The primary building features modern amenities and gameday accommodations for the team, fans and media, including VIP

hospitality and a press box. Central Broward Regional Park & Stadium will house offices for the club’s technical staff. The complex will also accommodate the club’s development programs, including Strikers U-23 and youth development partner Fort Lauderdale FC, as well as the planned cutting-edge performance lab, announced back in January. Lockhart Stadium, the current home of the Strikers, will continue to operate under the Strikers even after the move to Central Broward Stadium in August. Lockhart will be utilized by the club for additional business opportunities including hosting international friendly matches and tournaments. “The first Strikers game on Saturday, August 20 at Central Broward Stadium is sure to draw soccer fans from around the tri-county area and fill the

stadium. It’s a win-win for both parties,” said Finch.“While the history of Lockhart remains compelling and the pitch itself is a great venue, the recent changes to CBR accompanied by the adjoining practice fields and the ability to house the front offices makes it an excellent fit for the future of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers,” said Strikers advisor Sean C. Guerin, who was instrumental in the move to Central Broward Stadium. “I already know the players and the staff love it, and I am convinced the fans will embrace it as well.”

Boca Raton FC Defeats Miami Nacional to Move into APSL Semifinals

Boca Raton Football Club took on Miami Nacional in the quarterfinals of the APSL playoffs and defeated the club from Miami 3-1 after a hard-fought match at 5pm at Tropical Park on Sunday afternoon. “It was a difficult game,” says head coach Pedro Yunes. “Both teams had three days to rest and it showed on the field today. I’m proud of our guys for pushing through it.” Boca Raton opened the scoring when Stefano Bontempo streaked down the right side and crossed it to a wide-open Giovanni DiMauro who bagged his fourth goal in two games to give the defending APSL Champions the 1-0. Miami Nacional stormed back and was able to get one past Mike Pizzuti and ended the half all tied at 1-1. In the second half, both teams’ fatigue looked to have set in as they began to grind out in the remaining 45 minutes.

Some key substitutions were made by Yunes to help jumpstart the Boca Raton offense and it paid off. Amoroso’s key pass to the feet of Xavier Silva was spot on as Silva as able to maneuver past the defense and give Boca Raton the 2-1 lead. Minutes later, Boca Raton’s Colby Burdette was able to give the team the 3-1 lead of a hard-fought game to advance to the semifinals of the APSL Playoffs. Boca Raton will now face South Florida FC, the only team Boca Raton has lost to in the 2016 APSL Season. Boca will look for a strong effort versus a strong South Florida side that had the bye week as the number two seed. Boca Raton will take on South Florida FC on Sunday, July 24 at 5pm at Tropical Park in Miami. Boca Raton will livestream the game at www.sportsmesh.tv.
