'Craftsmanship is the heartbeat of human time’ In Praise of Hands by Octavio Paz
Welcome to the world of Bohemia, and a traveller’s tale. Inspired by a lifelong love of colour, textiles and travel I opened the doors to our first Bohemia store in dinburgh in the spring of . philosophy rooted in the principles of fair trade and the value of handmade artisanal wares has seen me travelling to many countries, experiencing many adventures and working with many wonderful people. Often travelling alone, I have found the world to be an amazing place and, in stark contrast to the news we are fed, full of warm-hearted and generous souls. I have been invited without reservation into the homes of the families I meet, this strange auburn-haired creature from a far away land, sharing food and stories, even if we don’t share a common language. From the studio in dinburgh here e are busy designing to communities in Morocco ndia Turkey and Bali, we work in partnership with highly skilled craftsmen and women to turn our concepts into unique and beautiful products. For Spring Summer e are excited to introduce ne collections and new artisans into our company of bohemians and look forward to sharing these with you. Much love

From the colourful souks of Marrakech to the Atlas mountains and deep desert, we have travelled this intoxicating country getting to know the people and understanding the role that craftsmanship plays in their culture and identity. It is going to be a lifelong journey,
On my very ďŹ rst trip to Marrakech, more than 10 years ago now, I met Hamid at the end of a long day scouring the souks for the most beautiful leather babouche. It was a fateful meeting and we have been working together ever since. More than a business relationship it has become a great friendship and we have shared many ups and downs of life together.
Morocco is rightly renowned for the quality and creativity of itĘźs crafts, it is a treasure seekerĘźs dream destination. Artisans continue to work using the same age-old traditional techniques they have used for centuries and it is rare today to ďŹ nd handmade objects of such authentic beauty. We are currently working with our Moroccan suppliers designing and producing leather goods, baskets and handwoven textiles, with lots of exciting new products to introduce into our collections for 2015.

Our latest adventure sees us travelling to India to work with a family of block print artisans in the desert state of Rajasthan. It has been an incredible experience, taking the designs created in our Edinburgh studio to this small village in India and watching as they are carved by hand into solid wooden blocks and then repeat printed along swathes of cotton cloth before being hung to dry in the hot hot sun. Hand block print is an ancient traditional craft which has been carried out in this village since the early 16th century. It is quite mesmerising to see the artisans so skillfully printing by hand and eye, each batch of fabric with a place in the history of generations who have practiced this craft.

y customers fell in love with the babouche slipper right away. The rustic Moroccan handcrafted style with a little bling bling seems to bring a lot of good mood to us living here in the Northern Europe. I also like that there is always something new and interesting in the wholesale collection. It is easy to spice up my shops collections with your colorful and beautiful things. I also appreciate the fact that most the products are produced fair trade and that you are giving work to small companies in third world countries. Sustainable business also mean liable relationship with retailer and the manufacturer to me. Business should aim to long distance relationships and win win situations. That comes were much alive working with Jenny and her team! And it always fun too. :)
