MEET ERIC Hello there my beautiful brides to be, I’m Eric and I’ll be keeping you up to date with what’s hot and what’s not in bridal couture this year (and next if I don’t get my p45 before then… had a bit of an issue with some packaging which made Lynette very cross! She can be sooo tetchy! I was only trying to help!) Anyway…. I know your dying to know all about me.. Im a young, frisky 11 year old French Fox Terrier. Ive looked after Lynette from the day I was born and she couldn’t do with out me! I’m no stranger to haute couture, having donned a number of designer outfits in my time, so every month I’ll be showcasing my designer of the month, their designs & my chosen accessories to compliment the look. I also keep my ear very close to the ground in the boutique. Being stealth like and incognito means I hear all the gossip and am more than happy to share that with you my dear fans. So keep reading for all my juicy gossip. Oh and you can also follow me on Twitter @ericshopdog. Till next month lovelies xxx

Julia has a couple of tips for forthcoming brides:
Send out your invitations earlier than you think you need to – people need plenty of notice, and always give a RSVP date earlier than you need – some guests will need to be chased for their reply! Always be honest with your choices and decisions - it is your one and only day and it is important that the day reflects your own personality and wishes - allow your dreams to come true! When you first start planning your wedding day sit down together, and with your parents if they are contributing towards the day, to work out your budget before you start to book suppliers, and try to be realistic and keep to it during the planning stages. If your parents are contributing be mindful that you may need to ask for their input from time to time! When planning don’t ask too many people for their opinions as sometimes this can become confusing on the best way forward and may blur your vision on what you would both like for the day. A good way to consider selecting your suppliers is to chat to friends who have recently married for their recommendations and don’t forget to then ask those suppliers to recommend people they have worked alongside. It can be a small network of suppliers that all work together extremely well that can achieve excellent results as they know how each other works! Key items to book first are your church and venue, photographer, the wedding dress, catering and the bar and then your entertainment – after which you can then work on all the smaller details! Always ensure that your band arrives, sets up and sound tests in good time before your guests arrive at the reception so that your guests have a complete surprise after the wedding breakfast, and have not been disturbed during the reception. Don’t forget to allocate the flower table arrangements to family and friends at the end of the evening - a lovely surprise to take home with them!
Be prepared for the unexpected - arrangements may not always go to plan but always try to relax - your guests are there to be with you, enjoy your day and are completely unaware of any small hitches! And lastly a wedding planner can take the stress out of the day for you by co-ordinating and overseeing the various suppliers and contractors, as well as being responsible for the timing on the day, leaving you to completely enjoy the day without any worry, stress or responsibility!

Every bride is told, and it is true, that the day passes very quickly. It is so important to enjoy every moment and not to rush the day - give yourself plenty of time for the ceremony, reception and party. A good photographer will always record all those wonderful moments that you may miss!

Emma grew up in the coastal village of Walberswick in Suffolk, where she had the wonderful fortune to be taught to sew by her Aunty when she was nine. Armed with her granny’s sheets, pebbles from the beach, her mother’s old saucepan and some pots of dye, a career in fashion began. Later, having graduated with a BA Honors Degree in Fashion, Emma continued to improve her skills by making clothes not only for herself but for family and friends, too. In 1997, after many years of designing as a hobby, she finally decided to start up her own business. Combining her flare for fashion and awareness of garment construction, Emma designed and made a small collection of wedding dresses and, thus, the Emma Hunt London label was born. 16 years on and Emma has built a reputation for creating exquisite dresses of the highest quality. We are delighted to stock Emma Hunt London Echo & Emma Collection. View our complete Emma Hunt London Collection in our Facebook Album. Click on the text below.

WHYVINTAGE IS all the RAGE
What images do you conjure up in your mind when someone says Vintage Wedding? For me its pretty lace, full petticoats, china tea cups, traditional cake stands and bunting – you cant forget the bunting! But Vintage can refer to any era you like, you can either choose an era to follow ie the roaring 20’s, the rock & roll of the 50”s or 70’s disco fever. But you needn’t choose just one era to go after, why not a combination?
Art deco mirrors, ruby red lips, sleek beaded gowns & gloves, feathers, jewels, tassels and all that jazz is reminiscent of the 20’s. The remake of the Great Gatsby and numerous Downton Abby weddings has inspired many a 20’s style wedding. 50’s - Dreamboats and Petticoats. Think jukeboxes, ice Cream parlours, tea length dresses with layers of taffeta, hour glass figures, gloves, pearls and clip on ear rings. Remember the ionic Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday!, Fifty’s props are much easier to come by than 20’s. We’ve probably still got family members who enjoyed that era, so you are almost certain to pick up bargains at car boot sales or flea markets. Start collecting early though as it could take quite a while to find everything you need. Or perhaps you’re a disco diva? 70’s style weddings are great fun? Lapels, Wide brimmed hats, minis skirts, bell bottoms & Go-go boots. Psychedelic colours & lots of plastic? And for the Boho Brides, the brides that dare to be different, why not have a Boho inspired wedding? Think festivals, VW camper vans, bunting, wild flower headdresses and hazy summer days and crocheted rugs. What could be better?
Def: Vintage - Denoting something from the past of high quality, especially something representing the best of it’s kind.
