WELCOME FROM COWTRAX
Welcome to the 6th edition of the Grasslands Angus Bull Sale! The Hanson and Holbrook families and ourselves here at Cowtrax have assembled a top notch group of Angus yearlings once again. As many people know I have been in Las Cruces, New Mexico going to college and on the rodeo team. It was hard for me to leave the cattle at home but I am very thankful to have some great people step in and keep things going smoothly. Without the family and friends support this would not be possible, so thank you very much! We feel this year we have a great group of powerful bulls that will add pounds to your cattle without sacrificing maternal merit. The bulls have been brought along slowly in a large pen with lots of exercise so they will look the part but be ready to go to work for their new owner. We have many calves sired by breed leading AI sires and our largest set of ET calves featuring our top females. Some highlights are the SAV President 6847 and Musgrave 316 Stunner calves, two bulls who have captured the attention of the angus world. As well as many sons from our walking bulls Blackhawk and Pioneer plus many others with unique pedigrees and high quality progeny. Without the tremendous support from our great customers we would not be able to bring you a group of bulls we think as highly of as we do these ones. So thank you to our past bidders and buyers for making our past sales a success. We invite you all down on April 3rd for the bull sale or stop in anytime for a tour of the bulls and to see the females who raised them. With any questions or if you need help finding the right bull for your program don’t hesitate to give me a call to talk it over. We hope to see you in Mankota! Colt Kornfeld

Pioneer 55Z has turned into a phenomenal cornerstone herd sire for us. He always produces a consistent, strong set of bull calves, with extra hair, sound footed, hairy and everall complete made. 2016 High Seller was a son of 55Z, BCAR Cowtrax President 21C for $13,000 to Lambs Quarters Angus. He goes back to the great SAV Pioneer 7301 who has produced progeny that have sold up to $725,000. His dam was an awesome cow with an absolute perfect udder, she goes back to two top female producers by TC Freedom 104 and EXT. His daughters are the best part all with beautiful udders, second to none dispositions and outstanding mothering ability. Pick up a Pioneer and retain every daughter because they will be your best cows.

The now deceased Eastwood bull added calving ease, thickness, super dispositions and unmatched feed efficiency. This made his daughters a building block in our herd as we have calved many moderate, stout easy doing females with square udders by him. He has been used on Angus, Simmental, SimAngus and Hereford heifers and calves no problem feel confident his sons will treat you and your heifers with ease.

The $104,000 valued Blackhawk has done a great job for us over the years adding muscle, pounds in the fall, depth in a very attractive look. He is still the most massive biggest hipped bull that has maybe ever walked the ranch. He’s one that has stood the test of time, had bulls top the sales and been very well received. He was a champion in the show ring as a calf, he has proved himself in the pasture, I’m positive your catalog will be full of check marks beside these Blackhawk sons.

Money caught my attention at Hamilton’s the December before he sold. He stuck out for his massive middle, extra hip shape and power, simply put he was a TANK! Not usually found in a bull with as much shape as him he holds a 0.0 birth weight EPD as well as averaging 77 pounds on all his progeny to date. He stems from the $192,000 Mgock Bullseye and a Tiger daughter, breed leader genetics that work in the dry, rocky country we live in.

President struck the angus world when he sold for $750,000 and then again when his son commanded $1.51 million in the 2019 SAV sale. We used him to add 3-dimensional pounds, a superior cow family, and a new highly marketable pedigree for our customers. The calves were born moderated, matured at a very young age, weaned heavy and have continued to gain over the winter.

We saw Stunner in Billings twice before we bought semen and both times saw him as a very fault free individual. He was long, smooth, good muscle shape, and very sound. His pedigree has a lot of super female makers in it including Capitalist 316 and Pure Product. Heifers calved well from him and they are bulls that will be easy to find on sale day.

He has a proud herbull front, wide stance, as wide over his shoulders as he is over his hips, and pounds the turf he walks on. Election 2G is very similar is a smoother package with length and hip shape. These two will sire the ranchers kind of steers without sacrificing maternal traits as their flush sister stands at the top of our replacement pen.

Lariat 5G walked out of the scale as the heaviest bull we have ever weaned at 965 in October. An exciting herd bull prospect stemming from our outstanding Erica 7Z donor female who has 4 sons in this sale. Erica is bold ribbed, heavy muscled, perfect footed with yet an elegant front end. In Lariat’s own right he shows a ton of length, with stoutness, hip shape and look that will sire some tremendous females. If you like numbers check out the spread on this guy from birth to weaning.

Retaining ½ semen interest Strength 39G is one of the best calving ease bulls we have had the fortune of breeding. He is ripped with muscle, attractive, masculine front and perfectly shaped foot. His dam was the result of an embryo package from Hamilton farms. The grandmother Tibbie 103T was the dam of the $95,000 HF Rebel 53Y. A full sister to Tibbie 101E raised a $20,000 bred heifer who sold through the Angus Collection sale in December. A calving ease bull, backed by breed leading cow family with a spread from 77lbs at birth to 825lbs at weaning, study hard as these ones are hard to find.

Another Money from one of our first calvers by Cast Iron. The sons of Cast Irons were the talk of the sale last year averaging just under $10,000. His dam is one of the heaviest females we have ever weaned parting ways with her own dam at 820 pounds.

I’ve been waiting for a heifer from this mating many years, finally in January she gave me one. This is the third Pioneer son the 35Z female has had, both previous sons going to the Dordu’s at Eastend. A young calf born on the 10th of March makes up for his young age with his stout makeup, extra deep belly, really one who looks great from every angle.

These Pioneers never go out of style by far the most consistent herd sire we have ever used producing exceptional females and high quality sons who everyone loves. This Pioneer is very correct, much like his feature maternal brother by Money last year. His young Big Sky dam is showing to be a great producer in her first two attempts.
Cowtrax Lots 136G - 138G
PAGE 17 136G’s dam has been a production machine in her first few years of production. Her first calf was the $11,000 High Selling bull in 2017 to Circle 7 then last year another $11,000 son Jason Allemand. This is no surprise being a daughter of our powerful donor M’Brook Lass 2056. 136G himself is a long, stout, hairy, easy traveling bull with proven high performing and proven parentage.

139G is a sale feature, he’s huge bellied, lots of muscle and really attractive. His dam is an Absolute female who has a robust make up, huge bellied and the kind that raises big, stout herd bull like this one. She is a maternal sister to one of the top end bulls 17G. With the heavyweight Harvestor line on the top and the low birth Hoover Dam, Motive, Bismarck and Final Answer on the bottom this solidifies a royal bred herd sire.

Youngest bull in the sale and will be the sleeper. He’s long, stout, full of hair backed by maternal greatness. He is a maternal brother to the dams of feature bulls 10G and 33G. Maybe the most maternal looking Blackhawk son we’ve raised. Don’t overlook him because of his age, he’s a herd bull!

A lower birth weight son of Warrior, which likely comes from his Legacy dam. 58W is quite possibly the biggest middled cow we own. Every year 58W raises a calf that either stays in the replacement pen or is a sale feature, this flashy bull is no different. Maternal brothers have been purchased by Lee Holbrook, Shawn Griffin, and Ray Rintoul. 717G would probably work on a bigger set of heifers or cows.

395G is a descendant out of Arlis’s 651B cow that has produced so many great ones. Lots of growth in this bull backed with a strong maternal line.
396G is out of a super RESOURCE first calf heifer that Jayne showed. We bought her as an open heifer from Glen Gabel. She has an impeccable udder, strong feet and legs and very eye appealing. This is a 76lb BW performance bull that will produce large calves without increasing frame size. This bull was HD50K tested and leads in the top 1% for 5 traits. Don’t miss out on this one.

402G is out of CONVERSATION and was a looker from the start. He is out of a moderate framed Justamere cow that has to be one of my favourites. We kept a BLACKHAWK bull from her and he is doing a great job. Use this bull to add power to your herd without increasing frame size. He is definitely one of the best bull we have ever raised.
