B – Bar Cattle is going on its forth generation of being family owned and operated on the home quarter. We do the vast majority of our daily work, this includes clipping, picturing, videoing and putting the content together for the sale book. This gives us the chance and time to really analyze each individual animal in the flesh and on paper. It is very rewarding to see the overall balance and consistency in this offering from their overall conformation, their actual data and their projected data!

The herdsire prospects are a diverse group. Sixteen purebred bulls are made of up of three of our walking herdsires; the first sons off Rainmaker 4K and Kingsman 5K followed up with sons of Henry 32H. Our Limflex offering is larger with fourteen (three red and eleven black) herdsire prospects. All are off AI sires from reputable operations within the Angus breed. Whether you want heifer bulls, cow bulls, black or red there is something available.

Once again, we are offering two picks of the partnership heifer calves. These seven heifers are a very intriguing and high-quality group. Some would go on to show at a high level, but most importantly they are all bred to be productive functional cows.

The six bred heifers are a red, homozygous polled, uniform group. They are mated to proven, marketable, homozygous polled AI sires; Hunt Credentials 37C ET or B-Bar Carhartt 71H to help give the new buyer a quick ROI.

The frozen genetics side of the sale is a bit smaller this year, but the quality is high and exclusive to just a few breeders. We anxiously await our first Kingpin 2001K progeny this winter. Kingsman 5K was put to the test between ourselves, Andrews and Greenwood’s breeding programs, although it is still early, I think it is safe to say the Kingsman 5K calves have a lot of quality and future.

We provide a lot of information and data to aid in your selection process. Use what is useful to you and what you prefer. If you have any questions, concerns or comments please contact ourselves or any of our trusted sales staff. We want to make sure you end up with the right animal or genetic package for your program. Our sales staff are very knowledgeable with our program and sale offering and we urge you to contact them if you have any questions.

We hope to see you Tuesday, December 17th at the Farm for our Eighth Annual Bull & Female Sale!

Welcome to the 8th Annual B-Bar Cattle Co. Bull & Female Sale.

As you study this catalog, you will have to agree that the depth of the offering is synonymous with the consistant quality offered from the B-Bar program over the past years. Eric’s knowledge of pedigrees, historic data and current information, is a benefit to his customers.

The red purebred division is highlighted by two of the most popular sire groups in the Limousin industry. Be one of the first to purchase progeny from breed leading Rainmaker & Kingsman bulls. Both of these sires are two of the most popular, correct & dynamic bulls to have come along in recent years.

B-Bar brings to the sale offering the “best” and largest selection of red & black LimFlex genetics ever offered in Canada. There is amazing depth of quality throughout this division.

The B-Bar “heifer pick x 2” is one of the most exciting events on the Limousin calendar for 2024. And again this year the Boons offer a premium bred heifer section.

The Bohrson Marketing team hope you are able to take in the great hospitality from B-Bar. It is one of the absolute must attend events in the Limousin community. Please reach out to Scott, Martin, Taylor or Jaxon to visit with us about this set of cattle.

Best regard,

The Bohrson Marketing Team

We are excited to be part of this year’s B-Bar Cattle Bull & Female Sale, collaborating once again with the Boon family for their 8th annual event.

The Boon family has mastered the art of blending U.S. and Canadian bloodlines, and this year’s offerings showcase genetics that truly speak for themselves. With a loyal customer base of both commercial cattlemen and dedicated seedstock producers, the Boons remain focused on delivering exceptional Limousin and LimFlex seedstock that meets the diverse needs of their clients.

The family’s journey in the Limousin breed began in 1982 when Delaney made his first industry purchases. Their commitment extends beyond breeding; they actively participate in various associations at local, provincial, and national levels. This involvement has enriched their understanding of the industry, resulting in a consistently impressive cow base and high-quality cattle in each annual sale.

Their dedication to breeding structurally sound and visually appealing cattle is evident in the numerous champions they’ve showcased at major livestock events across the continent. They also regularly consign elite Limousin herd sires, top-quality females, and exceptional show heifers to the most prestigious sales nationwide.

On behalf of the entire Boon family and the B-Bar Cattle team, we warmly invite you to their farm in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, on Tuesday, December 17th. This collection of Limousin herd sire prospects and females is truly outstanding and has the potential to elevate your program significantly. If you cannot attend, we would be pleased to handle your inquiries confidentially and professionally.

Please feel free to reach out to us or any member of the sales team with any questions about this exceptional set of Limousin and Lim-Flex genetics.

We look forward to assisting you in securing cattle from one of the leading families in the Limousin business today.

Triumph 60M has stood out consistently from a young age. Everyone has gravitated towards him on pasture and at home since weaning. He has that herd bull demeanour, long and level build with rib and muscle shape. On paper he ranks in the top 40% or better for 15 of 16 traits. His actual data helps support those EPD’s with a modest birthweight, short gestation and weaning index of 113. Some of our favourite females are the Credentials 37C daughters and 27H is no exception. In just a short period of time she has proven her worth, giving us sons that are moderate birthweight and then indexing high for growth and carcass traits. Triumph 60M is the complete package!

Sometimes mating genetics can just baffle you and the birthweight on 23M is one of these times. 57E’s five previous calves have ranged from 80lbs to 87lbs. We had 24 calves (8 heifers and 16 bulls) off Kingsman 5K and averaged 84lbs. Regardless of a larger than expected birthweight on Rolling Stones 23M he developed into a strong sale feature this year. He has the depth of rib and muscle mass to fill his frame in an impressive herdbull look. With his balanced set of EPD’s, actual numbers, and cow family history, this Kingsman 5K son should not be overlooked! Maternal sister sells as Lot 31.

A consistent set of flush brothers that have a unique pedigree, cow power, and real-world fundamentals. They are a soggy group. They have length of body, get out and move freely and are heavy haired. Their dam, 6J, is an absolute favourite around here with her easygoing nature, attractive design, bold rib shape and near perfect udder quality. 6J is from the tremendous and dominant flush of 13 we had in 2021 from the Warhawk x Shameless (aka Sammy). That flush produced the Champion and Reserve Champion Bulls at the 2021 National Limousin Show at Agribition, along with the Senior Heifer Calf Champion, 16J, who topped the Solid Gold sale at $22,000 to Lisle Livestock. A pair of flush mates that have been exciting to watch develop right from the beginning. They combine calving ease, growth and maternal attributes into an impressive looking package. We like their herd bull demeanour, sound structure, scrotal development and overall complete phenotype. We lost their donor dam too soon, but she was elegant in her design, big ribbed and heavy milking. We incorporated Greenwood Four Mile 47J into our LimFlex program for his balance of all relative traits and his impressive and highly regarded donor dam. The flush to the Nicole 13H cow really clicked, with the two bulls and two females being very consistent and standouts within their contemporaries. Loaded with power, muscle mass and overall width. 68M ranked 3rd in the contemporary of 20 to ratio 108. His dam, 55E, is a stout, bold ribbed female with an ideal udder. Foo Fighter 68M should sire a set of steers that will push down the scales and daughters that are meant for the replacement pen.

Recommended for Heifers. 2.5% more Limousin blood is the only thing that stops Foreigner 6M from being registered in Canada. Thankfully he could be registered with NALF. I think Terra got exhausted from hearing me say we should show this pair for the last 8 months! This spring I missed out on flushing Georgina 31K, as she is so ideal in every aspect. Foreigner 6M is so powerful in his design, from his length of body, depth of rib, width of body and overall soundness. He started off at 79lbs at a 279 gestation and exploded to his weaning data with a WDA of 3.82 and indexed 111 to rank 1st at weaning in his contemporary.

A pair of flush brothers that are loaded with power in pedigree and phenotype. They are consistently thick, heavy-muscled, power bulls with extra size that will sire calves that weigh up. The donor dam, 66J, is rich in maternal power on both sides of her pedigree with powerhouse cows like Wisteria Lane, Young & Restless, and Farewell. 66J was a feature female in the 2022 Western Select and has grown into a powerful, sound made female with real cowy attributes. Riley thought highly of her after she calved as a two year old to go and flush her. You can not argue with the results when he mated her to Brooking Emerald 9179.

Donor cow in the making here! Nicole 30M is big ribbed, square on all fours, great teat placement, with a real cowy look. She is equally impressive on paper as she is in the flesh. We have six maternal sisters in production and this is the first daughter off of the 9E donor to sell strictly because she is a partnership female. We had sexed female semen on the Stark 67G bull from Wheelers and Six Mile and wanted to make sure we got another female off 9E, even though I knew in the back of my head she would be offered for sale. A LimFlex female with a big future ahead of her!

Lot 30b and 30c are ¾ sisters and then a bit more as they both go back to the 115U donor on the maternal side further down the line. 38M is a stout, soggy, powerhouse that still gives you a nice attractive look. We thought so highly of this Rainmaker mating to Foxtrot 68H that we flushed her that way and bred her back the same way and will have seven full siblings to Lot 30b coming in 2025.

Maternal sister sells as Lot 33.

This one gets noticed by everyone that tours through and rightfully so! She is tremendously long, bold in her rib shape, great in her hind leg structure and elegant in her front end. The mating between Fugitive and 105C is no fluke as the full sister to 17M was the high selling lot and first pick of the partnership heifer calves last year to Crown Hill Acres and Venture Livestock. 17M has a great disposition for a junior to take hold of her then let her develop into a front pasture cow after that!

A real cow prospect in the making. Foxtrot 1M is long spined, level out of her top and deep bodied. She will turn into a productive cow with the maternal cow power backing her. She carries a balanced set of EPD’s, unique pedigree to provide a lot of options when you breed her.

In the CLA herdbook this 86% bull will produce progeny 88% and up if mated to purebred females:

*89% and 90% females = 88% progeny

*91% and 92% females = 89% progeny

*93% and 94% females = 90% progeny

*95% to 100% females = 91% to 93% progeny

Our search for a black bull took us to the long standing operation of Peterson’s L7 Bar Limousin in South Dakota. L7 Kingpin 2001K was on my shortlist after talking with Cade and studying the bull on paper. Once I saw him and his dam in the flesh I called Terra and told her I found the one we need. He was so impressive in his muscle mass, structural build, foot quality, length of body and that proud masculine herdbull front end as he floated around the pen. His 14 year old dam is efficient, functional and structurally sound and looks good doing it. His sire is arguably one of the most popular genetic lines in the US right now and one that we admire for performance, foot quality, docility and scrotal development. We were able to team up with our friends in Wisconsin, Shy Hawk Limousin, and purchased him as the high selling lot in L7’s 45th Annual Production Sale. Rocky and Debbie Payne scooped up all 20 doses in our sale last year and shortly after we sold them a semen interest in Kingpin.

The $20,000 Diamond C Kingsman 5K brings a lot of traits and quality to the table. Phenotypically he has a masculine front end with a smooth shoulder that blends seamlessly into his fore rib. He is extremely soft sided with a square hip design and big scrotal. Numerically, he has a very balanced set of EPD’s, with 13 traits ranking above average. His actual data has him at a 90lbs birthweight, a weaning weight ratio of 106 and a yearling weight ratio of 105. He is very intriguing genetically, with a twist to his pedigree that should allow many programs to utilize him. The maternal power in Kingsman 5K could be the most interesting part to him as his Dam and Grandam are efficient and functional cows with sound udders. The paternal sisters are gorgeous uddered females with tremendous structure. Be sure to consider Kingsman 5K as your next A.I. sire!
