EPD EXPLANATION EPDs are “Expected Progeny Difference”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPD incorporate the individual animal with its ancestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously. One of several selection tools.

Welcome to Bullfest 25.

Wow! It has been 20 years for the annual Bull Fest sale, how time flies! It has been an interesting, rewarding, and enjoyable 20 years all because of you- the buyers and bidders who have supported us and believed in our programs along this journey. We want to extend a sincere thank you to all of you on behalf of our Bull Fest Group.

This 20th year brings a few changes to our sale, which we are excited to introduce! This year, the sale will no longer be held in the UFA barn but instead in the Camrose Regional Exhibition main building! With the CRE's sale of bleachers and auction ring, we will instead be having a video sale auction with attendee's seated in chairs around tables to improve customer comfort. Also new this year is the addition of yearling purebred females from the Foresee Cattle and Jayshaw programs. The final change to this year's 20th sale is the Charolais consignments from Jayshaw.

The bulls will be available for viewing in the CRE building in Camrose beginning Friday February 21st through sale day, Sunday February 23rd 2025. Please join us for lunch at noon on sale day and for the social after the sale. Please feel free to contact any of us consignors with any questions. The coffee is always on and our pens are open for tours before sale week. We look forward to seeing you on sale day and again would like to extend a heartfelt thank you.

Wishing you all the best on the 2025 calving season and year ahead.

As a token of appreciation of the support we’ve received from our customers over the last 20 years, we will be doing a special 20th anniversary buyer draw for 2 3-holster Cattle Vaccine Coolers!

Maverick displays himself well and was one of the easiest bulls to get a photo of. He knows he's hot stuff with his dark red hair, length of spine, and muscling. Dandy was purchased at the Checkers sale a few years ago from Mark Land and Cattle.

SOUTHSEVEN MALONE 10M

STU 9M was one of the heaviest bulls at weaning and again when we weighed at the end of December. His moderate framed Loaded-Up dam really out did herself with this guy being her second calf. This is the first set of bulls from Magnate who was selected not only on confirmation but for his above average EPD's in every category.

After using Heat on only heifers for the first couple of years, we knew he had something to offer on the cow side. With this planned breeding to an Addiction female, we knew there would be calving ease from both sides of the pedigree while not giving up any performance in a dark red package.

This is Linden's bull from one of her earlier 4-H heifer projects, Autumn. He may be the youngest bull in the sale, but with his larger frame you'd never know it. He’s long spined, smooth fronted, and should calve easy.

Working with Foresee Cattle Co on their nutrition program has been very enjoyable. Their attention to detail when developing their bulls and females is unmatched, resulting in an elite set of bulls for you to evaluate. I hope you can make it in person to see this set of bulls.

The cowherd utilizes a customized mineral program that is balanced to their requirements throughout the year. This supports proper bull calf development from a young age. The bull development program is built to maximize forage utilization and gut health. All forages are sampled and analyzed to ensure quality feed sources are used. Once the calves are weaned, they are slowly transitioned to a TMR fed along with a complete feed pellet. The TMR is forage based and is designed to promote lean muscle growth, allowing the bulls to express their genetic potential. Rumen health is of upmost importance, which is why suitable protein sources and proper starch levels are fed to the bulls. Organic minerals are used both on the cow herd and sale bulls to ensure proper immune function and overall health.

Foresee Cattle Co uses a total nutrition program on their entire operation, ensuring optimal performance and health of their cattle. If you have any questions about the nutrition of the sale bulls, please feel free to call. Good luck on sale day!

No matter the need you are trying to fill we feel that there is a bull to fit in any situation. We welcome any visitors and would enjoy taking you through a tour of the bulls, the coffee is always on. Backed by a cow that has been extremely productive for us, you can take the guess work out of the productivity 31M has bred into him.

A real “chunk” in the pen out of our new fullblood herdsire, LRX Outlook. The LRX bull has done a great job providing us with calves that come easy and grow like weeds, evident by the two outlook calves we have on offer. Dark red, super hairy, and probably the biggest body in the pen with a tight and real attractive front end. If you are looking to add some calving ease into your program without giving up performance, this calf would be for you. NON-DILUTER

63M is a ¾ percentage out of Night Shift and another female we purchased out of the Mader program. “Polly” has been a model cow, and has registered every calf since her purchase, we sold one of her bull calves last year to our friends at CLH Group. 63M is a real sound individual with a strong maternal backing. This is your opportunity to buy one of the first Night Shift bulls which will be popular going forward.

10M is another night shift calf with that extra rib and length that was raised by a female that stems back to our Ms. Unlimited cow lineage. She was used as one of our donors and left us with a few real productive females, including 1050G. We believe 10M will leave nis new owners with a strong set of replacement field due to his strong maternal background and will inject a strong haircoat into his offspring.

If you look at his numbers, he also ranks in the 3% for weaning weight and top 10% for yearling weight. Huge hipped, massive middled, big topped is how visitors have described this calf all while maintain a sound moving structure and attractive front. Being out of one of our front pasture females is only a bonus to this calf’s pedigree. Opal 1E has also sold a high selling bred heifer in a past Border City Sale to Hankirk Land and Cattle. There is no doubt 1M will be a highly productive individual for his new owners.

When we purchased the semen on Shakedown for 600/dose our expectations were high, but it is safe to say they have surpassed those expectations. 51M follows in his paternal brother footsteps being real powerful in his makeup while still maintaining sound foot structure that is easy on the move. If you are looking to create and excellent set of replacement females or add a few more pounds to your calves; these Shakedown bulls will do the trick.

23M is a Walk The Line calf in a black package that is super impressive. The Walk The Line bull needs no introduction siring high selling and productive bulls/ females in his first couple years of usage. We have used him heavily and have been real happy with our calves to date. The dam of 23M has been awesome for us registering her calf every year in production. Just last year she raised a red Walk The Line bull that was our high seller to SMB Farms. This calf is super stout, attractive, and is one of the heavy weights on the pen with only a 94lb weight at birth.

When we mated our top red donor to Poker Face this is exactly what we were hoping for. A couple of powerful and high performing black blaze bulls backed by a proven pedigree. Cipher has been an excellent female for us as we have registered over 30 calves off her since her purchase. Over the years we have been fortunate through embryo transplant to raise front end bulls as well as productive females who are working fellow breeders’ herds as well as our own. The cipher calves have been known for their power and performance which is evident in these two full brothers. Both weighed over 1400lbs on January 3rd and have that extra muscle dimension with an extremely attractive front. We really feel like these calves have the phenotypic and genotypic profiles to do some awesome things for their new owners. You can bid with confidence as the pedigree has been tried and proven in our program, and a little chrome on your calves never hurts.

These two full brothers are a set of embryo calves out of our Erixon Lady 22G donor. We were really excited about these two calves, and they have impressed all the way along. Being a couple of heavy weights in the pen, both calves exhibit extra hind quarter, are big topped, have strong testicular development, are awesome haired, and are real sound on the move. The Walk The Line calves have been well received in the industry, and these two are about as good as we can make them. Being back by a front pasture type female adds to the predictability and confidence you can have in your purchase of either of these two full brothers. We believe these two bull calves will leave their new owners with an impressive set of replacement females and will sire heavy weight calves you can sell at a premium in the fall.

A super deep bodied, hairy, dark red, thick muscled calf with only an 83lb birth weight that should put some chrome into his calves. Having the shot of fullblood in the pedigree should aid in the maternal strengths this bull will pass on to his progeny. 35M’s dam is a real nice made female with an udder that is hard to pick apart.

21M is the result of a first calf female we purchased from Lewis Farms last year as one of our picks of the red females. The Heat Wave bull has been known to sire calves that come easy and grow, just like 21M. This bull ranks in the top 5% of the breed for calving easy while still being the top 25% for weaning and yearling weights which is impressive. 21M is cherry red, hairy, big middled, and well-muscled that has been raised by a young dam that has a productive future ahead of her.

66M is out of our Liberator bull and is a 1/2 sibling to the bull we sold to the Manville Farming Co last spring. His dam was purchased out of Border City from the Mcintosh Livestock program and is proving to be a strong producer in her first two tries. The muscle expression in the hip if this calf is impressive and one should look for him to pass that on to his off-spring.

Our second Liberator calf on offer. In his time breeding for us Liberator has calved real easy for us and has been super consistent which should make 61M a solid and predictable for his new owners. 61M stands on a strong foot and is one of higher performing bulls in the pen.

First, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our previous buyers and welcome new ones. Something new to Jayshaw is the Charolais Division, we don't have many, but we are striving for quality then quantity. We were selling private treaty but thought we would put a few through the sale to change it up. Also, we have consigned a couple heifer calves to spice it up and the bigger facility gives us the opportunity to do so. Also, a special thank you to Wolfe Farms, Red Top Livestock and Skyline Simmentals for purchasing our heifer calves in December in Red Deer. We look forward to seeing you in Camrose.
