Free delivery to central points in Alberta, We will arrange trucking anywhere at minimal costs. Free board until April 1, 2025. All bulls going back to the farms must be insured. Bulls left after April 1, 2025 will be charged $5.00 per day.
Please note, we will not be offering extended Board on any of the August/September born long yearling bulls. All long yearling bulls will be delivered by April 1, 2025.

Over the past 18 months, the cattle markets have finally broke into new uncharted territory as the price for our commodity took a significant upward trend. And to top it off, the fundamentals look strong for the next five years.
1. North American Inventories are at a historical low.
2. With the continued slaughter of mature cows and the extremely high number of heifers being placed in feedlots around the country, there are no signs that the cow/calf industry have made the decision to increase the North American herd size.
3. Once producers do decide to expand the North American herd size, it will further deplete the number of heifers made available to the packing industry and from the time a producer decides to retain a heifer, it takes approximately 4 years for that heifer’s offspring to finally enter the food chain.
With the constant demand for beef and the limited number of animals available to the feedlot/packing industry, the fed cattle that are being delivered to the packers are at all time high weights industry wide! The need for Charolais genetics is at the forefront to deliver the necessary performance to move the industry forward.
Not unlike the cow calf business, the philosophy of MORE POUNDS MORE PROFIT is exactly the same for the packing industry. Take my word having been in the slaughter business for close to 20 years, high dressing percentages will usually always make you more money than quality grade. Selecting the right kind of Charolais Bulls will easily position your herd to take advantage of the premiums being paid for high performing, high yielding cattle.
Thanks to the Scott Anderson Bred Heifer program, we are excited to once again offer an incredible set of 60 two year old Red Simmental cross heifers with their tan Charolais calves at side, all sired by McLeod Livestock herd sires. They calved them out between Dec 26, 2024 and Jan 15, 2025. This entire group of 60 first calf heifers will be on offer in this year’s Bull Sale and will sell in groups of 3-5 heifers.
We invite you to attend our 12th Annual sale Wednesday, Feb 19 – 1:00 pm at the Olds Cow Palace. You are certainly welcome to come see the bulls or Cow/Calf pairs any time prior to the sale at the farms. WITH CHAR-CROSS CALVES AT SIDE
Take advantage of this incredible opportunity! 60 First Calf Simmental-cross heifers from Anderson Bred Heifers at Bowden, AB. These heifers calved between Dec 26/24 and Jan 15/25 and will be sold at the McLeod Livestock Bull Sale. They all will have char-cross calves at side sired by McLeod Livestock heifer bulls.
These heifers were all hand selected in the spring of 2024 and exposed to Mcleod Livestock bulls for 12 days starting March 21, 2024. The pairs will be pre-sorted and sold in groups of 3 to 5 head per group.
Trucks will be available at the sale if you are the successful bidder or if you are wanting to purchase these heifers to use as recips, these heifers can be hauled directly to Davis Rairdan Embryo Transplants.
The pairs will be at the sale in Olds for viewing all day Tuesday and Wednesday morning prior to the sale. If you would like to view the pairs prior to the sale, please contact Scott Anderson and he will be happy to have you come to his farm west of Bowden and look at them at your convenience.

WHY IT’S VALUABLE TO SELECT CATTLE THAT HAVE BEEN 50K OR 100K TESTED
EPDs contain information from an animal's pedigree, performance and possibly DNA (50K/100K Testing) which are directly used to calculate the EPD for that animal in each specific trait. The use of DNA (50K/100K Testing) in the EPD calculation allows us to dramatically increase the accuracy of the EPD for animals that have been 50K/100K tested. These genomicallyenhanced EPDs allows us to greatly enhance our selection process and better predict the genetic potential of that animal, particularly in young cattle (calves, yearling bulls and heifers) that have no offspring to evaluate.
For example, in the evaluation of an Animal's DNA (50K test), it is roughly equivalent to the reporting of:
• 10 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Calving Ease
• 25 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Birth Weight
• 15 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Weaning Weight
• 8 Offspring from the tested Animal when calculating Yearling Weight
So in summary, it goes without saying that if you were selecting a bull for Calving Ease, it would be a lot more predictable to select a bull that already had information on 25 calves than a bull that didn’t have information on any calves and only relied on information from his sire and dam and his own birth weight.
