SIGHT UNSEEN PURCHASING

Thursday, March 20th, 2025
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our friends and buyers to the 30th Annual sale.
We greatly appreciate your support and confidence in our program over the last 30 years. Valued friendships and relationships with fellow cattlemen have been forged through 30 years of marketing Limousin bulls, it truly is the best breed with the best people. Some record setting calf prices this fall have created some optimism in the industry. It appears like we may be able to continue to demand good prices. So now is the time when every calf and every pound counts. On March 20th we will be offering a group of bulls we hope will catch your attention. They are a very consistent group of 2 year old bulls raised under some very tough conditions.
B Bar Warhawk was used heavily resulting in a strong set of bulls that will sire calves the industry demands. Also new this year is B Bar Empire, we used him on our replacement heifers and he did not disappoint. The performance in these calves is impressive. We are confident there is something for everybody.
The sale will be held on the farm with live video auction on DLMS. All bulls will be on site sale day. Bidding can be done in person or on DLMS. Hope to see you sale day!
The bulls are managed with breeding longevity in mind. They are fed a high roughage, silage based ration and are on a total herd health program. All bulls are guaranteed virgin bulls and carry our personal guarantee, if you’re not satisfied, we’re not satisfied. We welcome your evaluation of the sale offering either at the farm or on sale day. If you are unable to attend the sale take advantage of our sight unseen purchase program. Just call or come to the farm in advance so we can discuss your needs and develop a budget. As always satisfaction is guaranteed. Once again this year we offer to board your purchase until May 1, 2025 semen test and deliver for $100. We ask that bulls to be boarded carry insurance. Talk to us for any further arrangements. If you are unable to attend the sale, please call us or any of our capable sales staff.
The bulls are available for viewing at the farm anytime. They will also be available for viewing at the sale site prior to and the day of the sale. On behalf of the Bar 3R team we thank you for coming. See you sale day!
Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs) are used to compare the genetic merit of animals in various traits. An EPD pre-dicts the difference in performance of future offspring of a parent, as compared to progeny from other parents, when each are bred to mates of equal value.
Remember, the observed performance of an animal is determined by both genetics and environment, and EPDs only predict differences due to genes passed on from parent to offspring.
Birth weight has been identified as the single most influ- ential factor contributing to calving difficulty. In studies of birth weight data, birth weight EPDs have been shown to be the single most accurate genetic predictor of calf birth weight. BW is expressed in pounds of calf at birth and a lower number is desirable.
EPDs are expressed as the added pounds of weaning and yearling weight of offspring. Yearling bull weights are actuals taken in September of 2018.
A sire’s milk EPD is expressed as the additional pounds of weaning weight of calves from daughters (grandprogeny of sire), due to genes for milk passed on from the sire to his daughters. Similarly, a dam’s milk EPD indicates added pounds of weaning weight of calves from her daughters (grandprogeny of dam), due to genes for milk the daugh- ters inherited from the dam.
Scrotal circumference has been found to be a good indicator of age at puberty, and is a highly heritable trait. Expressed in centimeters with higher values indicating larger yearling scrotal circumference of sons.

Carhartt was purchased at the top of the B Bar bull sale in 2020. He has the stoutness, capacity, muscle and fleshing ability to grab your attention. Carhartt moves with ease and flexibility on a sound foot. We used him in our heifer pen and he did not disappoint, calves were all born unassisted and have the vigor we love to see. The calves grow quickly into the type of cattle the markets demand. We can’t say enough about Carhartt here at Bar 3R.
