Terms & Conditions

Cattle will sell under the standard Canadian Simmental Association Sale Terms & Condition, these are available on request.

The Future Legends Sale consists of a trio of great families that passionately dedicate their efforts to raising the very best Fullblood Simmental cattle for their customers. We see a high percentage of repeat customers at this sale as that is a testament to the breeders and how well their product works, and how they stand behind it. There are many sales in the land but we can assure you that travelling to the Future Legends will provide you a large amount of high quality stock to purchase and a set of breeders that will ensure you satisfaction after your purchase. Spruce View, Starwest and B Bar C are established programs that have been raising quality Simmentals for a combined amount of multiple decades. These bulls and commercial heifers on hand are backed by an exceptional cowherd that thrive on production value and raising marketable cattle each and every year. Muscle, length, hair, soundness, fertility, maternal strength, performance all come to mind when visiting about these programs. You’ll notice the commercial heifers on offer are a prime example of the strength of genetics when buying tours next bull through this sale. The Lot 1 donation female will sell by dutch auction, and our heart goes out to Christel & Adeline along with the entire Humble/Warkentin families over the passing of Steve. No words can explain the heartbreak and loss of a loved one and we are inspired with Christel’s strength and positive attitude through these challenging times. Steve was a hard working, driven, family man that will be missed and it is a great gesture for Christel and family to donate a heifer to Ag For Life to honour him. We encourage you to join us on Wednesday, February 16 at 2pm to take in the annual Future Legends Sale. It is always a pleasure working with the Daines family there as the viewing of sale cattle in large pens is ideal and user friendly for you the customer to see the sale cattle properly. We have the utmost respect for these breeders, their program and know the quality runs deep in this sale. If ourselves at BMS can be of assistance, feel free to reach out but we do hope you join us live in Innisfail to take in a great set of cattle. Best regards, the Bohrson Marketing team

Sale Welcome We want to extend our warmest welcome to our Annual Future Legends Bull Sale. The continued support of our friends, family and customers is humbling, to say the least. Our deepest gratitude goes out to all who have had the confidence in our programs throughout the years and continue to support us moving forward. Consistency is key and all three of our programs have focused heavily on our visions of raising high performing, sound herd sire prospects. Brett and Chris bring an exciting new combination of genetics this year with bulls out of three new herdsires. They continue to focus on a predominantly polled program and bringing to town some heavily pigmented, eye-appealing prospects. The B Bar C program continues to represent the true definition of versatility, productivity and performance. Steve and Tracy also added new genetics and this year you’ll see their first SBV 711 calves. These calves pack some serious punch with notable length. Their bull battery continues to be one to watch for, bringing calving ease, thickness and dispositions that are second to none. Their program represents a perfect blend of horned and polled fullbloods, noted for their frame size, thickness and adaptability. Herd sire shopping seems to be a trend for our group as Starwset welcomed four, soon to be 5 new gentlemen. Each of these bulls is a puzzle piece to our program. As I write this, we are over half-done calving and have had a good taste of what these new genetics will add. Our bull pen this year is the most consistent pen we’ve offered with a more select genetic base. Our Kalibre calves continue to be the stand-out with their high rate of gain and heavy muscling. We extend our invitation to share this day with us and evaluate the bulls on offer. As always, we welcome any visitors who would like to view the bulls in person prior to sale day. Should you be unable to attend on sale day, any of the Bohrson representatives would be happy to assist you. We look forward to seeing all the friendly faces on February 16th! No matter how many times I have rewritten this, I can’t find suitable words. On October 17th, 2021, our world, vision, and dreams were crushed when we woke up that morning without my husband, Steve. In September, Steve was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Treatment and surgery looked promising however the long-term prognosis had so many unknowns. Unknowns that Steve couldn’t bear. So on October 17th, he made a decision with his dignity intact in the place that he cherished, to no longer grace Earth with his presence. Life goes on, the cows still needed to be fed, sale heifers needed to be clipped, and cows to calf. This is not to hearten pity, but rather to raise awareness of the mental challenges which face this industry. Steve had a love for Agriculture which ran deep in his soul. When we were given the opportunity to assume responsibility for Starwest, we never looked back. Every board, screw and gate had new meaning to me. That was Steve’s labour of love, it was his purpose. One of the last conversations we had while bringing the cows home, he said “I’ve lost my purpose.” Steve’s surgical recovery was expected to take 8-12 weeks. During that time frame, someone had to assume his role, not an easy task. Yet, there was not enough love in this world to demonstrate how much of an impact he made in our lives. To Steve this was not just a job, nor even a lifestyle, it was his purpose. The deep need to feel accepted to achieve higher standards and to be a sustainable agriculture producer. Steve was “feeding the world.” He felt hopeless and therefore he felt like there was nothing left to live for. Now life goes on, Addie and I continue to follow the vision we had always imagined for Starwest and for my beloved Steve. As I stand admiring one of our best heifer crops , I turn this tragedy into an opportunity to share our story and purpose with others. We have picked one of Steve’s favorite heifers to sell with 100% of the proceeds going to Agriculture For Life. His indescribable passion for Agriculture paved the future for our daughter to follow in his footsteps. We felt this was the best way to honor him.

4

Heaven On Earth will be auctioned off at the start of the sale by Dutch Auction at $20 per ticket. If you can’t attend the sale and would like to pre-order, contact any of the Bohrson staff to have tickets purchased on your behalf. 100% OF THE PROCEEDS WILL GO TO AGRICULTURE FOR LIFE.

Buying this Bryck son was the start of a new division of genetics for us. We had previously never raised polled genetics before, and were hesitant at first, but with the popularity and the demand of polled cattle we felt it was something we had to get into. This Bryck son is a great addition to our herd. He caught our eye immediately with his natural thickness, solid red coloring, and great structure. His first calves are following in his footsteps and exhibiting the same traits. We used him on everything from power cows to second calvers, solid red cows to spotted and have been happy with the results. He makes them all the same, just like him.

Bryck 73F

Fullblood. Polled & dilutor test pending. What an exciting bull to start our string off with. You better not be sleepwalking when this bull comes through the ring. A dark blood red, goggle eyed bull that has been a favorite all year. The Black Gold Bryck 73F females were a hit this fall as high selling heifers at Black Gold’s sale. No doubt his sons should do the same. Consistent in putting that dark red color into his offspring as well as length, body, thickness, and the hair. We feel so privileged to have 73F walk our pastures. His dam is a young female that I have no doubt will one of my top cows in the next year or so. Moderate birthweight makes this guy an all around winner.

Dilutor test pending. When Spoiler Alert was born I was confident he was going to be the number one bull in the pen. After a great start to his life, he lost his mother in the beginning of May. Fortunately for him, with the good genes he is blessed with, he kept pace with his pasture mates and survived on his own in a difficult year. Looking at him now, you would never know he had a rough beginning. He is still one of the best bulls in the pen. You can buy him with confidence and reap the rewards.

Fullblood. Horned. Dilutor test pending. I have kept my eye on Gunpowder all year. He is another favorite of mine. I know I say that a lot, but that just means these are the kind of bulls I would use in my own herd. He is super dark red, long, eye appealing, nutts galore, and again out of one of my most dependable cows who always sends a bull to every sale. Since it seems like I can seldom get a heifer out of his dam, this guy should be staying in my herd.

Fullblood. Polled & dilutor test pending. It’s a real pleasure to be able to write footnotes on these 73F bulls. They are hard to miss in the bull pen and Bad Habit it no exception. I think Bad Habit is probably the most like 73F. His picture may not be the best to compare to because he, nor any of the other bulls wanted anything to do with getting their picture taken that day and it was difficult to get a good pose. Regardless, if you look at 73F’s picture, you are pretty well looking at what could be a picture of Bad Habit. This is another bull that many people have taken a good hard look at. Again, typical of 73F’s offspring color, length, good footed, big nutted and out of a big bodied black cherry red cow who is probably the best footed cow on the place.

Nice head and a smooth shoulder. A bull you could use on some larger cows. Once again, if you don’t judge a book by its cover or a bull by his picture, when he doesn’t want to cooperate, you are going to get a great bull and be pleasantly surprised.

What a find SBV Mark 711F, or simply known as 7/11, was, and we didn’t even find him. Our good friends at Lockhart Valley Simmentals, Lee, Tina, and Hannah Robson, saw him 2 years ago in Lenny Marks bull pen and invited us to go half on him at the sale. We originally had another bull in mind but when we saw him we immediately said, “Ya. We’ll go half on him”, and we haven’t regretted it. 7/11 is a moderate framed, thick as fog on a fall morning type bull with his muscling wrapping around the hip and going down the leg. He has a wonderful temperament, is dark cherry red with large goggles and big footed... and his calves are dynamite! We didn’t get a chance to get a lot of cows bred to him that first year so we don’t have a large representation but this years’ calf crop is really exciting!

Fullblood. Horned. Dilutor test pending. Kootenay is the youngest bull in our offering, nearly 2 months younger than some of the other bulls, and WOW! Has he ever come along! You would never think there was that much age difference. Kootenay is out of our new herd sire, 7/11, and will be a moderate framed, thick butted fella, and will get noticed in the pen. His grandma is none other than one of our favorites, Skittles. Wanting to increase fertility in the herd? His dam has given us twins every year except with Kootenay, and yes, we got another set of twins again with her this year out of 7/11 and they are solid red just like Kootenay.

This combination of Country Sunshine and 7/11 is one that will definitely put the pounds on the calves come fall and in feedlot steers as well as giving top replacement heifers with beautiful udders. He does have a little larger birth weight but his dam came in a little chunky at calving time. This years’ 7/11 calf is a more modest 95lbs. This is a bull that has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Oh, and if you’re in the pen, Drifter will probably come over for a scratch.

Fullblood. Canadian Shield is out of a 15 years old cow that I thought I would have forever as she was absolutely fault free in every way and walked and looked like a 6 years old, but came home from pasture with a leg injury that just can’t be fixed, so this will be her last calf to sell, but how lucky it is a 7/11 son. I think Canadian Shield suffered a little on pasture due to her injury but still managed to have a good weaning weight. If problem free heifers and longevity is on your wish list, then Canadian Shield is the bull for you.

There’s so much to say about this bull. When we purchased him a couple of years ago from Rendezvous Simmentals at their sale, he was the second, high seller at $27,000. His sire Charles was purchased by Rendezvous for $75,000 from Lockhart Valley Simmentals and the Charles son’s in a matter of a couple of years from the 2 farms have brought in $1,000,000 in revenue. You don’t get that kind of money if they aren’t good. One of Princes sons was one of our top sellers at last years sale and for good reason. Performance packed and dark red. Like Charles, Prince likes to put that deep black plum color into his calves along with a ton of hair. I don’t think we have ever had a bull put so much hair into his calves. One of the longest bulls to walk our pastures on a set of strong feet and legs. Can’t beat his temperament. Very easy to work with. His daughters are some of my all, time favourites here. We are truly lucky to have this bull as our own.

Prince Charles 586E

Fullblood. Horned. Graffiti is our only Prince Charles son on offer this year. Prince Charles calves are known for their growth, performance and natural thickness and Graffiti is about as thick and deep as they come. A stand out in the bull pen. His calves are going to push that scale down and make his new owners’ wallet a little thicker. At 5 years of age Prince Charles has really developed into a powerful bull. Super long on a strong topline with balanced feet and legs and a rump you could serve supper on for four. The one comment we heard this summer about Prince Charles when we had visitor’s over to look at the herd bulls was “Now that’s a bull.” We couldn’t agree more.

Chandler has been a staple name around here for the last few years. He’s been heavily used on everything from second calvers to performance cows and has calved easily on all without lacking on the performance. He’s dark red and at 9 years now we haven’t touched a foot of his. He makes his calves consistent in type and probably delivers the biggest barrelled calves ever on the place. They are really soggy.. You will be impressed with the calves.

Chandler 143A

Another good Chandler son. I wish I had a whole truckload of them to bring to the sale. You sure can pick them out in the pen. Aztec is a sharp looking long bodied, bigger framed bull that could be used on some bigger cows. Even though Aztec has a larger birth weight, this isn’t typical of Chandler. He’s been one of the easiest calving bulls ever on the place.

Wildcards’ dam is a cow we bought as a heifer from our good friends, Harry and Michelle at Virginia Ranch a few years ago and WOW! Did she ever knock it out of the park with this one. Another bull that needs to be seen in person to be appreciated. The one comment we hear everyone say about him is “ is he ever soggy”. That is very typical of the Chandler sired calves. Deep, soggy, thick and long that can weigh the scale down along with that treasured dark red and large nutts. This will be the last natural sired calves from Chandler as he was used on our commercial cows this past spring and then suffered a leg injury. Get one while you can.

Mission has been a real blessing to have on the farm. Bought to use in our heifer pen, It’s nice when you know that if you miss a heifer calving, chances are everything is going to be ok. You seldom hear that with heifers. We have used Mission for the last 4 years on our heifers and have had great success on the calving end with the calves averaging in the 70-79 lb range and as low as 49lbs and not a twin. You would think with this calving ease that the performance would be lacking. I can tell you that is not the case. I think the best part about the Mission calves are their determination to get up and sucking, usually within 10 minutes of birth and that’s not 1 or 2 of them, It’s all of them. Lots of pigment too. Unfortunately, Mission has grown to be too big to use naturally on heifers now, but we have kept a son of his back to carry on the tradition.

Fullblood. I’ve always liked this Mission calf. Enough chrome on him to make him pop. His sire Mission has been such a god send to us. We have used him on heifers for 4 years before moving him to our Fleck cows this past spring, and he has been without a doubt the easiest calving bull on heifers that we could ever wish for. Mission Impossible is a nice combination of calving ease with a punch of performance that I think he would do great on some first calvers. Look for Mission’s son, Sterling, to represent the calving ease side of things in next years sale.

This isn’t surprising when his grandmother is none other than our Country Sunshine who has one of our top bulls for sale this year. I truly expect Smooth Talker’s dam to follow in her footsteps and will become one of our leading ladies in the future.

I wanted to try an experiment and use Mission on a cow or two to see what the results would be like and I liked what I saw so decided to use him on more cows this past spring and we are just finishing up calving as I’m writing this and I REALLY like what I’m seeing. I think Express would be another bull you could use on some first calvers. Just enough calving ease and performance to ease them into motherhood for the second time.

Fullblood. Yes, I realized after registering the bulls that I named 2 of them the same. I guess that’s what happens when you write footnotes at 2am. Anyways, This Wildcard goes back to one of our most reliable cows on the place, Jojo, who I think has had a bull in nearly every sale we’ve been in and it looks like Janie is going to follow in her footsteps. Even though Wildcard is a little lighter colored than his penmates, he could quite possibly have the largest nutts out of all the bulls. Could have named him Nutts Galore. He possesses that huge butt that the Mission calves develop with a nice small head and smooth shoulder. With a 78 pound birth weight the potential is there to use on heifers.

Our 2nd group of bulls to sell and they are looking great. Goliath has met and exceeded our expectations. From solid color, to taking many of the horns off, the calves are standouts from birth. The replacements are every bit as good. The heifers we calved out in December have good udders and great mother instincts.

When we bought Helix we were needing 3 bulls. Hard enough sometimes to find one. But he fit the bill for an outcross to our herd. He has worked well, adding some power to the mix. Tonnes of hair on all of them and no horns, Bino is homo polled.

Purchased Elevation to breed our 1st calvers. He has worked phenomenally. The calves come easily and are thrifty. Most are red to the bottom of their feet. Some of our top replacements are out of him. He keeps the females feminine and the bulls masculine.

This year, Shaelynn’s bull has something new to offer. Coming out if a favorite cow she purchased from Spruceburn a couple of years back. Elora has always had a good disposition and has maintained a healthy condition while being an amazing mother to all her calves. The older This cow gets the better her calves get and those special qualities of hers start to really show in her calves, such as Joker. Being combined with Elevation, Joker gives you that awesome personality along with a well built and maintained condition to carry along and perform in any herd.

Hairy, soggy and pigment. Those three words describe Shooter to a tee. While not the largest sire group in our sale, the Shooter calves find a place in the top of the pen. Their extremely dark colour along with their thick haircoat make them aesthetically appealing. While his females might not be the prettiest in the pen, he sure knows how to raise broody, bull-raising females. In fact, we kept 25 of our own bred heifers this year, with over half of them being his daughters. The udders on them along with their solid footing make them some of my favorite herd matrons with a promising future.

Shooter 3E

Talk about eye-catching. I think everyone deep down can admit they’re a sucker for this dark colour. If I had to choose one word for Heath, it’d be consistency. This guy has had impressive gains right from the beginning. BEE Leigh outproduces herself every year, being one of the smallest framed but most powerful producers. She’s been a no-miss cow right from a heifer and is one of the most highly anticipated cows to calve every year. Heath’s maternal sister was my pick of the 2020 born heifer calves and comfortably calls Starwest her home. Heath also has an impressive brother at side that I’m sure will be at the top end of the pen next year.

The Shooter calves are all typed the same: appealing, deep, and loose-hided. Jett, while being one of the youngest in the pen, has had the same consistent rate of gain that the Shooter progeny seem to develop. His smooth polled head makes him an attractive, smooth shouldered front end. Anchor D Zabrina was part of the package of cows we purchased privately from Dan Skeels a couple years ago. If you know anything about the Anchor D program, it’s been made clear that FGAF Barbossa had one of the biggest impacts on their herd. His females are truly phenomenal.

I quite admire the length and topline on Starwet Jackson. He’s an awesome middle of the road bull that will be a steady producer. His colour coat is another one to admire coming from both his dam and sire’s side. Starwest Jackson’s dam is another young Beechinor cow with perfect udder suspension and good depth of rib. He’ll be the type of bull you could throw on a wide variety of dams and have a consistent calf crop in the fall.

A thick haired bull with a little extra chrome, Starwest Hank has some serious performance to him. Anchor D Dionne is a deep ribbed cow with a cherry red haircoat. One of his maternal sisters sold to Blazin J Simmentals at the Simpower sale this past December. Hank posses a good hip and strong topline. Having natural muscling and a solid foot under him, Hank will have no issues covering ground come breeding season.

Every program has their bombproof, go-to bull and Kalibre has become just that for us. When putting together his second breeding group, I presented him with quite the challenge simply because of the diversity I threw his way. Having said that, the bull pen this year remains extremely consistent and Kalibre’s stamp has become just that much more evident. Despite his extreme performance and natural muscling, we’ve never had an issue with birthweight and have yet to assist one of his calves. On average, his progeny have been gaining around 4lbs/day, making them the heaviest bulls in the pen. With another calf group already on the ground, our confidence in Kalibre remains extremely high and he will forever call Starwest his home.

Kalibre 762E 29

STARWEST FARMS LTD

Starwest Pol Helix has one impressive pedigree behind him. I absolutely adore his dam, being a stylish, deep-bodied cow with an impressive udder. We even purchased a maternal sister to Anchor D Arabica this fall at Anchor D’s bred heifer sale. These are the types of cows I could have bull calves out of every year. Helix has tremendous length with a smooth profile, something all of the Kalibre calves possess. The length behind the Kalibre calves is what makes his progeny so easy to calve. They’re the most vigorous calves at birth and start to develop natural muscling immediately. This smooth polled bull will produce some ringer retention heifers along with steers that’ll bring you top dollar in the fall.

The favourite pair of the year goes to this guy and his dam. No matter who I toured, everyone picked out Starwest Hayden for his striking appearance and depth. Every cattle producer expects great things from young herd matrons but it sure is a treat when their return on investment starts happening with their first couple calves. LFS Pol Miley is one of the sweetest personalitied cows on the farm, although we have many of those. Her udder is one every cattle enthusiast strives for and there’s nothing better than an easy-keeping cow that looks the part 365 days a year while still raising remarkable offspring. I have no doubt in my mind that Starwest Hayden will give you the same ROI that his dam has.

We have only ever ran one homeraised bull and that happened to be Jarvis’s maternal brother. Starwest Pol Eagle Eye, who also has sons in this sale, was our solid producing, go-to bull. He worked on everything including heifers and has numerous daughters in our herd. The performance behind Jarvis is one to take note of. One thing I’ve observed with the Kalibre calves is that they have a tremendous growth curve. They mature phenomenally, avoiding the awkward teenage stage. Starwest Pol Jarvis is the type of bull who will just get better with time, and come full maturity, will be one of your most impressive herdsires.

The combination of calving ease and power in Jango’s pedigree makes him a confidence choice for your second and third calvers. His dam is a moderate framed cow we bought from Ferme Gagnon a couple years back. The goal with her was to add moderation to our program and Id say she’s done a great job. As I’ve said before, our herd is mainly compromised of young females as we’ve focused primarily on growth the past couple years so it’s always exciting to see the progression of these matrons.

I’ll say it again, these Kalibre calves are all performance with Hutch being one of the most impressive gaining bulls in the pen. His dam, Anchor D Devra is in our top 10 for not only disposition but consistent calves. If every cow we owned could have a hip like Devra combined with her solid footing, I’d be as content as can be. She’s the definition of a true bull maker, being a 1900lbs cow. Don’t let the numbers deter you though, I have no doubt in my mind the Kalibre sons will calve tremendously due to their confirmation and add explosive growth to your calves.

If I’m being dead honest, Journey was not my favourite this summer, however knowing the cow family behind him, I gave him a chance and thank goodness I did. He really started to excel towards the end of the pasture season, even though the grass quality was poor and him being a “baby” in the pen. It’s hard to compare February born bull calves to those born in January but Journey has certainly held his own. Journey’s dam is out of one of the top fullblood matrons at Black Gold Simmentals, making her another young cow that has huge potential. Her first calf brought $15,000 selling to Anchor D this past winter. They say patience is key and if these are the types of calves that some of these young dams have raised thus far, I can’t wait to see what they’ll raise in their prime.

There’s no other word to describe this bull other than a brute. Starwet Hanson dominates the bull pen, somewhat because of his extra age but mainly because of his presence. He’s built like a train, strides out beautifully and has the perfect muscle definition. Blueprint is about as proven as you can get when it comes to genetics. Top it off with a French Attack dam, and you basically have a bombproof pedigree. FSMB 1E was the lead-off heifer from Boisvert Simmentals at the Eastern Harvest sale in 2018. She has another phenomenal bull calf out of our new herdsire SBV Rambo 708G. Make sure you watch for him next year as he should surely follow in Hanson’s footsteps.

The personality that comes along with Starwest Pol Jameson is second to none, something he inherits from his dam. This young stud has earned his spot in the bull lineup with impressive, steady gains throughout the growing season. His maternal brother is working at Bruce Busenius’place and has proven his value by his ability to be versatile. I believe Starwest Pol Jameson has the same capabilities to be the type of bull you can use on smaller framed, second calvers as well as on your mature cows to raise you striking retention females. We have more Starwest Pol Eagle Eye sons on the ground this year and they too have moderate birth weights with a majority of them being polled.

STARWEST FARMS LTD

Our youngest offering in the bull sale but not one to overlook. Comparing him to January born bulls is a disadvantage but add the beautiful pigemtnation as well as a smooth polled head, and Starwest Pol Jughead will comfortably find his place in any bull battery. His dam is a large framed cow with good bone and a unique pedigree. Starwest Pol Eagle Eye was referenced in Starwest Pol Jarvis’s writeup for being a consistent, reliable part of our bull battery and you can’t go wrong with that.

Starwest Pol Jett’s sire, Sunny Valley Exclusive now calls Starwest his home. We purchased him from Mark Land & Cattle/ 619 Land & Cattle last year to utilize on heifers, as well as to moderate some of our more powerful herd matrons. Starwest Pol Diamond was sold to Lenny Mark as an open heifer and we had the opportunity to buy her back seeing as PHS Xceptional is Blueprint’s dam. Needless to say, the cow family behind CKCW 129J is one of the most reputable in the fullblood industry thanks to Blueprint. We also really admire our Double Bar D Rival females for their width of hip and solid confirmation.

STARWEST FARMS LTD

The last embryo out of this flush, Starwest Pol Hamilton goes back to a top cow out of the Gagnon program. A typical “Gunner” offspring, CKCW 007H possess good colouring, an attractive head and a balanced confirmation. His appealing front profile compliments his smooth shoulder along with his tremendous length of spine; all the right things when looking for a bull that will calve well. One thing we’ve spent a great deal of effort on over the past couple years is focusing on the importance of top producing cow families. CKCW 007H is no exception to this, having a tremendous set of herd matrons in his lineage.
