We have elected to go with a video display only sale again for this year and forgo running big, two year old bulls through the handling system and into the sale ring. We do this primarily for the safety of the bulls to reduce the risk of injury and bruising. As always, the bulls will be displayed and sorted for viewing in pens right outside of the sale center. We feel that with your pre-sale evaluation and the excellent videos broadcast on the screens, that you can make a selection with confidence just as previously.

Calving Ease Legend
Calving Ease is often related to birth weight of a bull. This is partly true but there are other factors that influence calving ease. The dam and her management are at least 50% of calving ease. Also, the consistency of the birth weights of the sire and dam should be considered. Nutrition, gestation and environment all influence birth weight. We have rated each bull in the sale based on the information we have.
*** Should produce minimal problems when bred to medium to large frame heifers.
** Recommend for larger frame heifers, second calvers or small framed cows.
* Recommend for mature cows 1400 pounds plus.
Delivery
Delivery will be arranged to central locations in Western Canada. For US customers, delivery will be arranged to central locations in the Northern and Central USA.

Welcome to the 2025 edition of “Pursuit of Excellence” on the 4th day of February at the Jackson Cattle Co. sale facility, Sedley, Saskatchewan. Under the leadership of Kevin and the crew at Blair’s and the powerful sale partners, livestock breeders have the opportunity of selecting from an outstanding offering of Angus, Red Angus and Simmental sires designed to add value and increase profit to your breeding pastures.
The Blair Family name is not new to the agriculture sector in Western Canada but rather a household name relating to superior seedstock with quality service. Catalysts in the cattle business, they are leaders in the pursuit for new genetics and have established a phenomenal cow herd base. No doubt, their intense transplanting program facilitates that expansion.
The bulls on offer speak for themselves. Rugged, beefy, with plenty of hair and muscle…. bred to add pounds at weaning, cover bigger cows, more cows and suitable for all types of terrain. Rarely can one find such a powerful group of twos to select from. Designed not by chance but by years of experience and an important bonus, is that these bulls are plum full of maternal values so that you will want to retain all their daughters. For your reference we tried to picture all the mothers.
Whether you are from our friends to the south, South America or Blaine Lake Saskatchewan, Pursuit of Excellence offers cutting edge genetics to enhance your breeding program. We, at T Bar are very familiar with their breeding programs and will be pleased to assist with your selections in a professional and confidential manner.

MEET THE FOLKS THAT MAKE THE
go WORLD ROUND
BULL PROGRAM TWO YEAR OLD
It’s important to note that not all two year bulls are not created under the same conditions. We are careful to develop our bulls in a manner that ensures their longevity. Our bulls spend the first winter on a ration of pellets and hay to ensure they are grown out without getting over conditioned and then they go to grass for the entire summer without any supplementation and are further developed by grazing on high quality grass. In early Sept they are removed from pasture and begin to transition to a hand fed balanced ration along with free choice hay. The two year old sale bulls go through (5) rigorous culls before they make the sale list that includes phenotype, foot quality, performance & scrotal development. The goal is to ensure that by sale time the bulls are in ideal breeding condition and exhibit natural muscle expression so buyers can see the genetic potential of the bulls.
We feel strongly about how well Simmental & Angus work together in a commercial program. A few years ago it became clear that customer needs included Simmental genetics so we committed to providing bulls to fill that need. The Simmental journey quickly included a partnership between Westbrook & Blair’s.Ag Cattle on Simmental & SimAngus genetics. Jordie & Luke at Westbrook calve in Jan at Cochrane Alberta so it was clear that any bulls born in that window would sell as yearlings in the Feb Pursuit of Excellence sale. Jordie & Luke would love to visit anytime so feel free to give them a call.
BLOODSHOT
Larkaba 42A made her stamp on the industry early on for consistently generating elite bulls year after year. Now that we have daughters in production, we are confident they followed in their mother’s footsteps.
Bloodshot 310 is a standout for his overwhelming amount of body, width and muscularity, while still combining it with an attractive herdbull look and comfortable build. His dam, 9010, captured numerous banners in 2022, including Canadian Jr National Champion Bred & Owned Female. If you’re on the hunt for a breeding piece to take your operation to the next level – adding 310 to your herd-bull battery is a no-brainer. Double B Angus reserves the right to
Autograph 2D quickly became a fan-favourite across all breeds at Agribition in 2016, eventually being purchased by Six Mile Ranch and JCL Red Angus and winning his division. His calves are consistently stamped with his dark cherry haircoat, ruggedness, rib shape and power on sound feet and legs. The maternal power in 302’s pedigree is incredibly impressive, with our cornerstone Larkaba 42A donor on the top and the Monique cow family on the bottom. A genetic gold mine with the rugged herd bull phenotype – look in!!

We have been fortunate to utilize Lucky Strike 9001 alongside our partners Cabana Tres Marias and Angus El Sauz as he sets the standard for foot quality, performance, and fleshing ability. Toss in the Priscilla 44Z bloodline on the bottom side – we think 312 has the potential to make a splash in any operation. He is dark red, huge muscled, neat looking and incredibly sound. Another soggy-made, heavy-muscled, rugged son of our 42A donor to highlight our group of bulls. 42A has become arguably our most profitable donor for her ability to knock it out of the park every mating, generating top-end replacement females and thick-made, powerful sons. Sired by Bingo, we expect 320 to follow in his parent’s footsteps as a pivotal breeding piece for any program and routinely sire moderate, easy-fleshing, stout-made cattle with the ability to excel as both show animals and breeding tools.
DOUBLE B
LOT 5
DOUBLE B
We often describe our Alice 131D donor as “picture perfect” – incredible udder quality, huge middled, awesome look, and sound as a cat. 131D has produced some of our favourite herd mainstays, including a great-granddaughter who highlighted our Opportunity Knocks 5.0 sale heifers, now owned by Carlos Ojea. 304 is dark red and long-bodied with huge yet correct feet and legs built for the long haul.
LOT 6
We could write a novel on the impact that 44Z has had on our program and the breed as a whole. Progeny, such as the manytime champion Red Double B Red Watch 129, have dominated the show ring while catering to the real-world demands of seedstock producers as fantastic breeding pieces. Here is your chance to incorporate the 44Z bloodline into your program with the good-footed, level-made, heavymuscled 306.
One of the last chances to obtain a direct son of Priscilla 44Z! 44Z truly put our operation on the map and has since created a reputation for generating easy-doing, awesome-looking, sound-structured offspring with top-tier maternal traits, dominating show and sale rings worldwide. 318 is a maternal brother to Red Double B Red Watch 129, who claimed over 20 titles in three years, including National Champion Red Angus Bull, CWA Champion Red Angus Bull, and CN Beef Supreme Top 10 Finalist. 318’s sire, Renown, has famously generated some of the best progeny in the breed, known for their ideal foot shape, body, and udder quality. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to combine some of the most profitable bloodlines in the breed through a moderate, big topped, thick-made herd bull prospect.
DOUBLE B
Talk about stacked genetic lineage. The Red Box x 42A mating has been one of our favourites for making incredibly stout, shapely, big-bodied, moderate cattle – and 326 fits the bill. His full brothers sold in last year’s sale to the extremely well-known and respected Power Plus program, and many half and full siblings are pivotal breeding pieces in our program. If you want to inject more power and red meat into your program with proven pedigrees, 326 is your guy.
A big-framed, long-spined, heavy-boned son of our beautiful Taffeta 9F cow from Wrights Livestock can be found in Urgent 327. His ability to combine performance and substance with a sound build should undoubtedly be an asset for any breeder, especially if his progeny inherits his mother’s incredible udder quality and maternal look. His sire, Urgent 12G, sired the high-selling bull in the famous U2 Bull Sale a few years ago for Sunberry Valley Ranch and set the tone for superior foot shape and CE figures. DOUBLE

Bar E-L Erica 74A is as famous as any Angus female in the history of the breed. Think about the combination of the cow maker SAV Renown 3439 and the highly predictable and sought after Erica 74A. Add some royalty into your program. These guys are full sibs to Blair’s Erica 541L that sold in Opportunity Knocks for $50,000 to ZWT in Tennessee.
We use HF Entertainer 54H to add the kind of shape needed to ensure calving ease. The Blackbird 733G dam is a beautiful donor of the very predictable SAV National Anthem 5740 that we regard as a big time female maker. Keep all the females off this rascal. Owned with Running Steady Ranch
A strategic mating here to match the highly proven donor Meg 169Z with the new exciting Coleman Glacier and the plan to put Meg & SAV Renown together in a pedigree. Blair’s Glacier 559L is a Black/ Red carrier with a tremendous future that is a result of a flush we purchased from Six Mile and Wheelers. We are excited for the full sisters that are in our program and you can watch for red hided Glaciers in the future.
These two are quite simply “female makers”. They are long made angular bulls with cow power in the pedigree. If you want to add unique genetics to your cowherd, the Argentine Sarita 547J donor is the answer to your quest.

PUREBRED SIMMENTALS 2025 YEARLING
Although we are just a few years into the Simmental bulls being part of the Pursuit of Excellence Bull Sale we are proud of how far the partnership between Blair’s.Ag and Westbrook Ventures has progressed.
The cow herd itself is headed in a strong direction with the group of females we have put together. The features we have been targeting when selecting females have been foot quality, udder strength, and easy fleshing ability. We also like the cows to carry some natural muscle on a correct made easy calving structure.
The yearling Simmental bulls are born and raised just north of Cochrane. After weaning they go onto the Bullseye Feeds bull developer pellet and dry roughage ration. They are developed there until the end of January and from that point are hauled out to Sedley for the sale. Semen testing is done in the later part of January with the majority of the bulls being just over a year of age. We are confident in the bulls knowing they are in good functional condition and ready to cover cows when the time comes.
It was a pretty easy fit for us to have All In start off the Simmental yearling section. We don’t think you could make him any darker red, sound structured or soft middled. He was the anchor of our fall show team and came home as the Reserve Intermediate Bull Calf at Farmfair and tied for Reserve Simmental in the Presidents Classic show at Agribition. He comes high out of his point of shoulder and loves to carry his head with a demanding presence. He’s been early maturing with lots of testicle. All In stands on a correct dark foot and is as good natured as they come. His dam came to us from the Ultra program and brings another 4 maternal brothers to the sale including one she raised herself. His sire High Stakes is a Betts out of one of the famous Soda Pop x Poker Face flush sisters, 417B. All In has been a pleasure to raise and develop. We are proud he carries the WBC tattoo and can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes him! Homo Polled, Red WESTBROOK
Candyman has been a favorite since day one and as stout made as any calf we’ve seen. He’s remained extremely stout as he’s aged. Judge Ryan Rash called him the Body Builder of the bunch at Farmfair, and impressively is still very free moving and completes his stride. Candyman is wicked haired and just plum full of crest and the young herd bull look. He was the pick to represent our program this summer at the World Simmental Congress and continued to be a stall favorite throughout the fall show run. The four full brothers all bring a little something different to the party but remain the same in their round muscle type, ample hair quantity and lots of bone. We sure were glad to finally get a full sib heifer calf just the other day! Homo Polled, Hetero Black
The young brother of our Ava Scream x Cottonball quads. 28M is stout middled, easy fleshing and comes with a brockle face. Lots of eye appeal, muscle and testicle to 28M. We have been super impressed with these Ava Scream bulls from the start and wished we had more of them. With the Ava cow on the top side and Cottonball 723E on the bottom side these bulls pack just as much maternal punch as they do muscle.
Homo Polled, Hetero Black
7M would be 89H’s natural calf. Its just as important to us that these donor cows can raise one themselves as they can to create them. 89H has proven her worth for sure with the 5 bulls that carry her pedigree. 7M is the baldy bull that will throw hair and muscle.

807M is one of our favorite Boomer sons. He is a soft made long bodied easy moving bull. All traits that Boomer passes down, no matter how he is mated. In 807M these qualities come naturally from both sides as his Dam 808F is always a favorite on the summer pasture tours. She is a great footed, high capacity attractive type female, backed by the well known 404B Flirt cow. Homo Polled, Black
& WESTBROOK
Another Boomer son that shows many similar traits as his 3 brothers - lots of length, deep sided, easy moving with a heads up attractive presence. He is another bull backed with a famous cow family behind him. With his Dam 822F a daughter out of the great Violet 641A, and Boomer’s Dam Flirt 850F. There is a long list of cow power in his pedigree. Homo Polled, Black
31M is another long spined heavy muscled Boomer son. At birth he was 81 lbs but by weaning time he came off grass weighing just under 1000 lbs. He is in the top ten percent of the breed for weaning weight and yearling weight EPD’s. His Dam 5H is a Betts daughter out of the B16 Brooke cow. B16 has four direct progeny herself in this sale as Lots 65-68. Homo Polled, Black
Another cow to bring a number of bulls to the table. Brooke has many accomplishments here at Westbrook but raising Ratchet may be one of her best. He without question is the longest bodied bull in the offering. Big footed, big boned and full of raw muscle. Brooke has been our go to donor cow since purchasing her in 2021 and has clicked with every bull we have thrown at her. More impressively is that she calved the end of February her first season here, this year she has already calved and we would IVF her twice each summer. Her mating to Boomer was picked to bring in the Flirt cow family and IPU 135D family. Lots of maternal strength comes with Ratchet as well as high weaning and yearling weight traits.
Homo Polled, Black
The moderate framed super stout brother from the trio of Caliber x Brooke. He holds a 933 lb adjust weaning weight and ranks among the top 10% of the breed in the weaning and yearling weight department.
Homo Polled, Hetero Black
Power and mass bring you 53L and 14M. They carry an extended front end and give you a commanding look in the pen. They are straight haired and functional in their design. Our Brooke daughters are tidy uddered and we of course were really hoping for one female from this combo but ended up with all bulls. These are powerhouse type bulls that would work great on an Angus based type cow. 53L, Homo Polled, Black 14M, Homo Polled, Black
A calving ease bull out of our new walking bull Good Times. Good Times is a heifer safe bull we got from the Rust Mountain View Ranch program in the spring of 2023. By the time we got him across the border it was later in the breeding season, so we are expecting a much larger group of calves by him this winter. His birth weights and calving ease were just right on the heifers as we did get a chance to breed him too in his first year. 38M hasn’t strayed far from his sires calving ease traits with a small skull, smooth shoulder and long spine. He is attractive made with a lot of that coming from his granddam 8543U, who would likely be one of the most famous Simmental cows in North America. Homo Polled, Black
The youngest bull in the pen. He started the fall weaning off at 880 lbs and has caught right up to all his older pen mates. 46M is sired by our walking bull Buckeye a Yuma son that has worked very well for us. Buckeye’s strongest feature would be his big correct foot. 46M is strong footed, structurally correct and has a big ability to convert feed to muscle. 46M’s dam is a Jenna/Stepping Stone combo, with a mile long list of great features. A true elegant female, smooth shouldered, huge middled and textbook uddered. Homo Polled, Red
The one and only Fullblood in this years offering. 811M’s dam came as a high seller out of FNL from the Mark Land and Cattle program. She is sound uddered, big footed and polled. His sire is an Outlook son out of the impressive 413G cow, who along with her flush sister are writing their own history book within the Simmental breed. 811M was born unassisted also came polled and is nicely marked. Polled, Red
These two flush brothers have herd bull written all over them. Easy moving, heads up, long bodied and deep quartered type bulls. Not to mention tons of hair, big testicles and travel on a big correct foot. These are all strong Jackpot traits. Their dam Lilly 173H added her share of punch to the combo as well. Lilly’s big top, soft middled look and maternal appearance is one you wish for in the whole herd. We had 7 full sibs on the ground last spring, these two bulls plus 5 heifer calves. 2 heifers will remain in herd and 3 sold in the Opportunity Knocks sale in December. Lilly’s natural born heifer calf by Ava’s Scream was chosen to represent us this summer at the World Simmental Congress show and continued on the show road last fall. She also sold in Opportunity Knocks to ZWT Angus. To say Lilly is starting to show a productive track record might be an understatement.
806M, Homo Polled, Homo Black 857L, Homo Polled, Hetero Black
Another set of flush brothers that we are very proud and even more fortunate to have bred and raised. After raising Westbrook Princess 5K a maternal sib to 11M and 15M and selling her for $35,000 in FNL to Canadian Donors and M & R Cattle we bought a flush on the 8683 female and the next spoke in the wheel that put it all together was being able to use the great WTL on her. These strong breeding tools worked so well together. 11M and 15M are super attractive breeding pieces that still carry lots of crest, middle third and are sound structured. Their flush mate sister was shown once this summer at the World Congress claiming the title of reserve champion percentage heifer calf. 11M, Homo Polled, Hetero Black 15M, Homo Polled, Hetero Black
1/2 Blood, Homo Polled, Hetero Black This guy was our representative of the percentage bulls this fall in the show string. He came home with the Champion Percentage Bull banner at Farmfair. He is a true half blood being sired by the Wheatland high seller Next Century and Dam’d by the great 102D female.
3/4
Blood, Homo Polled, Black If you’re looking for a bull to make replacement females with 18M fits the bill. His Dam 1524C is a half blood female that has either put a female in the replacement pen or a bull in the sale every year. With Capacity on the top side there is no hesitation the females he will sire will be exceptional. Don’t be mistaken though this smooth made, deep quartered bull will add pounds and hopefully some blazes to his calf crop as well.
3/4 Blood Another good looking baldy out of a half blood Soda Pop cow. This guy as well will build up the replacement pen. His dam is an easy keeping attractive type female who has one of the nicest udders in the cow herd. 855L himself is a long stout made bull who travels on a big square foot. Homo Polled,
