elcome to our 14th annual Genetic Edge Simmental Bull Sale. It doesn’t seem like that many years since we first saw the dream, of our own bull sale come to life. It’s also really cool to see the passion and interest that our kids have acquired in developing their own herds, and future goals. This will be evident to see sale day as they both have 2 bulls in this years’ sale. It’s safe to say that “Anchor D Ranch will see a fourth generation on this farm carry on the tradition, and continue striving for excellence in livestock production. We would like to thank our very loyal customer base we have been able to grow over the past 30 years, and welcome any new or potential new customers, and look forward to working with you for many years to come. We are very grateful for your support, and promise to supply you, our customer, with the best service and product we can. We invite you to all attend this years’ sale Friday, February 8th, at the Ranch. It has been that many years of preparation to get us to this point. We have developed a great core of Fleckvieh cow families over those past 30 years that make up our cow herd. I’m a firm believer in you MUST have a good cow to create a great bull. These cow families will present a truly outstanding cut of breeder bulls and top quality commercial herd bulls for offer. About 8 years ago, we decided to also develop a purebred division. I am really excited about our purebred bulls this year, as I feel they show our breeding program is really coming together. They are our strongest set as a group, we’ve ever offered. We would also like to welcome the Snider family to our sale as guest consignors, offering an outstanding group of elite black & red purebred bulls, to compliment the offering. This fall it was so evident in the commercial market that the good heavy weight calves demanded the high dollars. The resurgence and excitement in the cattle industry is contagious, and is so exciting to be a part of. We saw an extremely steady feeder market. It was also very exciting to see the rebuilding of cow herds, even new cow herds in some cases. It’s very evident with the low cattle numbers there is a growing demand for red meat. I thought it would be tough to top last years’ fall purebred sales. I think it’s safe to say that has been achieved. It has been fun to be a part of, and the envy of many other breeds. One more point that I really want to stress is the importance of brand name. We want you to realize that “Anchor D is a brand name, not just a prefix. There is extra value in owning an “Anchor D bull. It is backed by a quality product, with quality service. We are very proud of our cattle, and proud to say they are “Made in Canada. These cattle are bred to be early developing, low maintenance cattle, high in maternal traits, with lots of hair, and growth, and will themselves produce cattle that thrive in a local feedlot, and turn productivity into cash in your pocket. We believe in developing our bull calves, so that they last for years, and deliver their full genetic value to your herd. Our bulls are fed on a TMR cereal silage ration, with the goal of developing them, not to fatten them. We expect your purchases to last for many, many years. We appreciate that the purchase of your new herd bull is a serious investment. Your purchase today will make the single largest contribution to your calf crop. Buy these bulls with confidence. There will be bulls priced in everyones budget, suiting everyones needs. Be sure to join us for a steak dinner. If you are unable to attend please don’t hesitate to call and discuss your needs, or stop by the farm any time prior to the sale to view this years’ offering. We look forward to seeing you at the sale. Dan, Karen, Mackenzie & Garren Skeels

“Razzmatazz” has been such a pillar in our program. In his past 6 calf crops, he has had the largest sire group in the sale every year, and has made a huge impact in so many of our customers herds as well. His calves have such amazing dispositions, heavy hair coats, great growth, and are so consistent. His daughters are passing those traits along into their progeny as well. Because we have used him so heavily, we made the very tough decision of parting with him this past year, after breeding season. Thank you to Pine Creek Simmentals, where we know he will see many more years of breeding, and make a huge contribution to their growing operation as well. There will be one more group of sons for offer next year, but I encourage anyone who has never had a “Razzmatazz” son to get one, and if you already have his influence in your herd there is no such thing as too much of a good thing. I have to say he is the best bull we have ever walked, buy his sons with confidence.

This is a full brother to the lot #7 heifer that sold at this years’ fall production sale to Mike Bauer, ON. She demanded a lot of excitement from the moment the catalogues hit the mail, and expect her brother should do the same. He is a calf we have noticed right from birth, as a big growth, powerhouse bull, that will produce an outstanding pen of steer calves. You can never go wrong with a “Razzmatazz”, as they have always been some of our most sought after cattle. An extremely solid choice.

“Ambush” is a calf that really has unlimited potential. He comes from the great “Herlinde” cow family, and combines two of the greatest herd bulls that have ever worked here in “Regis & Razzmatazz”. This is a cow family that always moderates birth weight, but always has growth. He has perfect pigmentation, the excellent “Razzmatazz” hair & disposition. I would have to identify “Ambush” as one of the bulls I feel has potential to make an impact on the breed. Don’t just wait for things to happen, plan your attack, and start with an “Ambush”.

Another typical “Razzmatazz” son. When you walk through this sire group, they are stamped one after another. “Razz” has a bit of extra power added in from “Jahari’s” full sister on the bottom side, as well as calving ease from “Three Sixes”. A very balanced pedigree to offer optimum power and growth, with no calving issues. Look for “Razz” to sire ring fulls of big soggy steers, and phenomenal replacement females. Last years full brother is working for John & Kathy Coers, let “Razz” work for you.

We purchased “Heat Wave’s” dam from Ralph & Sharron Burns, and she has been everything we expected. You can never go wrong with an “Antonius” daughter. This is a bull that can likely work both ends of a pen, whether you need to breed heifers or cows, he should get the job done. Last years’ half brother was selected by Walt & Val Hedges, BC, and I expect that “Heat Wave” will be similar in the fact he will be a moderate easy fleshing individual, that you will want to retain as many daughters from as possible. You won’t go wrong with this choice. Heifer Approved.

“Ricco” has caught my eye all year long. A bull that I really appreciate the entire make up of. He just kind of puts everything together right, and always presents himself. In a pen of 90 bulls there is always a handful that gets overlooked, I can honestly say “Ricco” is a bull I notice every day. Expect his calves to do the same. His sister who sold this past fall to Kindred Spirit Cattle Co was very much the same, and was selected by many to be one of the best. Good cattle always have a knack of looking good and being seen. “Ricco” is one of the good ones.

“Charisma” was one of the bulls found on display this fall. He has that incredible laid back “Razzmatazz” attitude, he truly has no worries. I just love everything about the way he is put together, he is a very complete package. He too has a great cow family, with none other than “Dorothy” in the background. His dam is a sister to “Rawlins” who worked our heifer pen for many years, and now graces the pastures at Diamond Rio Ranch. I always talk about the strengths of cow families, and I can’t stress enough, as “Charisma” is backed by our best.

Well the old girl has done it again. “Emily” has been as productive of cow for us as we’ve had. Her natural calves have averaged an impressive $9000, not to mention what her ET calves have gathered. This is a cow that puts everything into a calf, and you just know it’s gonna be good. “Zeplin” is certainly a bull that will leave an impact in the industry. We have never mated “Emily & Razzmatazz” before, and it’s a cross that won’t be duplicated, as “Razzmatazz” no longer resides here. I think “Zeplin” is a bull that deserves a serious look at sale day. The best features of two of our greats have combined to create this masterpiece.

Here is a bull that may tend to be a bit of a sleeper in a large sire group. We have mated this cow with “Razzmatazz” several times, always with tremendous success. She is a no non-sense cow that is very easy keeping, and always brings in a super marketable calf. Last years full brother was one of the high sellers, going to Marc Boisvert, PQ. I suspect “Savard” will be a bull you truly grow to appreciate that much more every day. He will be one of those versatile bulls that will offer about everything you need, and longevity is very rich in his heritage. Be sure to watch for “Savard” sale day.

I’m sure every farm has one of those cows that you just know when her calf hits the ground you’ll have something special. I’ve stated before that “Tazzy’s” mom may very well be our best “Native Son” daughter. She is a cow we wouldn’t change in anyway. This fella will turn pounds into cash for his new owner. He is without question one of the deepest bodied bulls in this years’ sale, has a huge hip, and lots of hair. He has a big huge loin, and is truly a meat machine. Selling your calves in the fall, then “Tazzy” should be high on your shopping list, and the daughters he puts into your replacement pen will be the added bonus.

For those of you who have yet to own a “Razzmatazz” son, do yourself a favor and get one. “Zenta” will be another very typical son from this great herd bull, with lots of hair, a great disposition, moderate framed combined with good growth. “Zenta” has a bit of a different pedigree on the bottom side, and although we don’t actually have very many of these good “Remington” daughters in the herd, the ones we have are fabulous. You will notice in this years sale there is a “Stockman” bull in the offering. This is his younger brother, “Rio”. He will develop into a moderate framed, thick beefy bull that should be extremely highly maternal. His dam has been an extremely good producer for us, and stems back to one of our top cow families in “Star Gazer”. With “Goldrush & Legend” both right there in the pedigree, you know there is power as well. A very affordable bull that will do a great job.

“Original Sin” was catalogued in last years sale, and was a late scratch due to an infection. Interestingly enough, he was a bull we felt strongly enough about to retain for our back up bull. He did end up going to work for Hidden Dream Farms, ON. At the time I am writing footnotes he doesn’t have calves on the ground yet, but I suspect they will be outstanding. He is a direct son of our great old “Desiree” cow, who we actually just let go this past year, at age 18. Longevity, I think yes. Also being a son of “Samurai”, who’s sons made an outstanding debut for us last year, averaging over $13,000. He hasn’t had any extra pampering, as we just pulled him out from the herd bulls prior to cataloguing. This is a serious herd bull, that already knows how to get’er done.

“Samurai’s” sire is a bull we purchased jointly with R-Five Simmentals. We eagerly awaited those first calves, with some frustration after having to ship him due to injury. Because we rely so much on walking bull power, our AI use to him is limited. We did sell a full brother in last years sale to “Samurai” to Three Hills Colony. This guy has that same deep red color, and wicked good hair coat. He has lots of length, and muscling. A very good candidate to put beef on your plate, and dollars in your jeans.

We are very fortunate to have walked this great bull over the past 7 years. Unfortunately we lost him this past fall, however his influence will carry on through his many daughters, and his 2013 calf crop. Look to the “Stride” sons to add depth of body, over all muscle shape, and tremendous foot structure. He may very well have been the best footed bull we have ever used. We found that the “Razzmatazz x Stride” cross was extremely complementary, and made a great 1 – 2 punch.

Last years sale we seen huge success with our “Samurai” bulls, as he sired the high average group, and boasted the two high sellers in “Imax & Cloud Nine”. Well not as many of his sons in this years sale, but here is a grandson. I expect “Hemi” to be mature to be moderate in stature, and incredibly thick. This is a cross I have been anticipating for some time, and I am really excited to see how this bull develops over time. I think he should sire an extremely desirable group of calves. Never underestimate a “Hemi” there will be lots of power.

I can’t brag about this bulls dam enough. The “Razzmatazz” daughters on their own are something special, but “Salsa” is a natural daughter of one of our all time favorite cows in “Desiree”. This cow family perhaps doesn’t receive the glory that some of our others do, but when you go through pedigrees you will find it as often as any. This has been a mating we have had very good success with. We have sold full brothers to “Shadow” to Bill & Sadie Noble, as well as L&N Ranch in last years sale. “Shadow” is just that, an image of his brothers, a bit different in color, but identical in makeup. A big rugged growth bull, that will sire a high performance set of feedlot calves. Our “Stride” numbers are a bit smaller, and with his loss we will be very limited on numbers next year. Here is your chance to own one from this great bull.

Another pen favorite of mine, “Zeus” is a complete package. His full sister sold this past fall to Double Bar D Farms, and a full sister by blood is Mackenzie’s 4-H heifer this year. “Zeus” is extremely powerful, loaded with style, and pedigree anyone can work with. As you can see this “Stride x Razzmatazz” is a powerful 1-2 combination. I would highly endorse “Zeus” as breeder bull quality, and feel he is one that you will only appreciate more and more each day.

This is the first time we have tried this combination, and I am very pleased with the results. We have always had quite a bit of success with “Universe”, and I feel you can’t go wrong with a “Universe” daughter. You may note though this cow is just a bit more special, being a full sister to “Dorothy Jane”. “Zest” will offer lots of growth, a bit more frame than most of the “Stride’s”, and no doubt will produce a top notch set of replacement females.

The last of the “Stride” bulls but certainly not least. We sold a full brother to “Strobe” last year, selling to Kidd Bros. I can honestly say he was one of my favorite bulls in the entire pen last year, and this years little brother is very similar. “Strobe” will be a bull that will work on a huge variety of cows, and deliver phenomenal results. His dam has been mated this same way several times, always producing what we are looking for. This will be a bull high on carcass values as well. A bull I suggest you be sure to look at very seriously more than once.

“Mr. Gibbs” was Garren’s 4-H project, who we knew was special the day he was born. We selected his dam “Tyra” as our #1 “T” female and gave her to Garren to start his herd. This cow could not have pleased us more. This is her very first bull calf, but you will note not the only bull from this cow family. “Mr. Gibbs” has absolutely everything we would want in a herd bull, and has been noticed by everyone who has seen him. He is a big time player, and will be seen in the industry. A flawless pedigree, and performance to burn, and a great attitude. If he wasn’t Garren’s we may have kept him for ourselves, however we have decided to retain 100 units of semen for in herd use. Be sure to look him over possibly one of the strongest bulls we have ever offered for sale. Pre stud entry blood work will be done.

These “Colossal” bulls are just plain useful. It’s very unfortunate that this herd bull is no longer around, and I know there are many folks wishing they had some of his semen. “Tornado” is a great option. His dam has always produced extremely well for us, and is one of our test cows, that gets to try out new bulls for us. We always expect good things from her, and with her pedigree, they are always highly marketable. She literally has sons sprinkled from BC to Quebec and everywhere in between. I would have to rank “Tornado’s” dam as one of the top 5 cows in our herd. I can’t endorse him more than that.

“Colossal” is a calf I really appreciate more each day. His sire made a fairly significant impact this fall when 3 sons averaged about $16,500, and with him now being deceased makes them more valuable. This guys dam “Molly” was one of our very faithful OLD donor cows, who very simply did all she could this year to keep up. “Colossal” basically had to fend for himself, but at weaning time when they were started on their silage ration, there was no holding him back. I have very high expectations of this fella, and named him after his sire, as I feel he is capable of following in his footsteps.

“Star Gazer” was one of our mainstay cows for many years. In our ET program, she never gave us big numbers, but was always steady. We flushed her to “Rogant” producing only the one embryo, and here he is. A very neat blend of genetics here, to certainly offer something different. I always maintain that not all recip cows are created equal, and this is a bull that no doubt could have had a better recip mother, but he has the genetics to leave a lasting impact in your herd.

Here is a big rugged growth bull, loaded with performance. I think “Houston” will be a calf that you will grow to appreciate as he develops. His sire adds growth, and they do thicken up. His dam is a cow we purchased from Porter Ranches reduction sale, and added into our donor pen for one round. She has a top notched cow family behind her, and always does a rock star job on her calves. “Houston’s” dam also has some black pigmentation, so for anyone looking to throw a fullblood bull out on a set of black cross British cows to produce some baldies with some growth. “Houston” will have no problem.

We were able to use “Throttle” from our friends Curtis & Heather Heimstra, to cover another bull casualty. This may sound like a sales pitch but trust me you can never have too much bull power. Anyways, “Throttle” adds a different twist in pedigree, and has lots of growth, and performance. He too is a younger calf that would be much more appreciated in a later sale. I ask you to ask yourself, when do we actually need to use him. This will be an excellent bull that will really continue to develop, and by late March be a bull highly sought after at most sales. I really can’t stress enough how good I think this bull will be. Don’t get caught looking, have your hammer cocked and ready to fire at him sale day.

We brought some semen in out of Germany on “Mr. Bean” with hopes of sourcing some new outcrossed genetics. With such high stress on milk production there, it was a task to find a bull with the desired beef production traits we wanted. We also still wanted to keep those milk traits, as I honestly feel the dairy world is a much untapped resource for the Fleckvieh breed. “Mr. Bean” fit that bill for us, and we were truly excited to see his first calves come. As of yet we have some delays on papers, so “Bean” may sell with or without papers sale day, as soon as we get everything finished up, we will have him registered for his new owner. Regardless this is a very good bull, from a great cow, and offers something truly unique for most everyone.

Another year has passed, and we are certainly pleased with the job Mojito continues to do for us. His first calf crop was extremely impressive and he boasted both the high selling bull and heifer that year. Last year he sired the second high selling heifer, and has just slightly over $6000 sale average on two calf crops. He’s done the job to say the least, and will receive the biggest group of cows this spring. Look to the Mojito sons to add hair, depth of body, carcass traits, and extra pigmentation.

Last year “Mojito” had a smaller sire group as he ran heavy to heifers. He will make up for that this year, as he has more numbers, and a very respectful group. “Zojito” is a very typical calf from him, moderate in frame, heavily muscled, with lots of hair, and great pigmentation. He comes from a cow who is a full sister to herd bulls that worked for Lewis Farms, Stone Simmentals, Wolf Simmentals, Walt & Val Hedges, & Sunnybend Colony, and also produced a full sister to “Zojito” who was our high selling female 2 yrs. ago to Prospect Hill Simmentals, a truly impressive list of cattlemen’s names. “Zojito” is bred to be a phenomenal bull that will produce amazing results.

“Zarley” will certainly add extra length of spine into a calf crop, and have tons of eye appeal. He has a different pedigree on the bottom side for us, as we try to incorporate some new cow families into our existing program. This is a tremendous cow, and she gave us the gift of a polled mutation female as well. Oh yah, “Zarley” just happens to be a full sibling to her. Anyone familiar with our program, knows how much I like “Rogant” and really when you stop and look at many pedigrees, you will find “Rogant” sprinkled through many of them. “Everett” may be one of the bulls that may tend to get a bit over looked. This is a bull you truly have to appreciate his entire make up. His smoothness, muscle pattern, and pedigree set him apart. His color is a bonus, but he’s no fluke. His full brother “King’s Ransom”, was our second high seller a couple years ago, going to Kulyk Simmentals, SK, a full sister is in our herd, and his dam appears to have another super star on the ground. “Prauge” comes from another top producing cow family. The “478H” cow was one of those cows you always looked forward to seeing what she weaned off in the fall. You just knew it would be good. We retained most all her daughters, and this past fall when sorting sale heifers, her last calf somehow snuck into the sale pen. I wasn’t too popular with Karen, but good job to Matt Buschbeck in selecting her, she will be a money maker. “Prauge” comes from another of her daughters, and I think he will make some lucky cattleman really happy with the calves he produces. Everything adds up here, as he not only looks the part, but has the pedigree to back him. A really nice soft made bull with lots of shape, and thickness, a very nice shoulder set, and great hoof structure. This bull is built to last forever, and his daughters will no doubt do the same. We typically have a couple yellow bulls in the sale every year, so this is normal to have a stout hairy buckskin meat machine in the mix. The biggest difference is the sire group. I think we really under appreciate these good buckskin bulls, especially when you see a ring full of good buckskin steers sell. You can never go wrong feeding cattle like this but the true added value to me in a bull like this is the fact that he will produce equally as good of replacement females. You can’t go wrong with “Yellow Jacket”, especially when he’s the color of gold.

“True Grit” is without question a breeder bull. He is backed by one of our top cow families, in “Image 21J”. 3 of the bulls in this years’ offering are from this family that should sell in the top 10 bulls. That’s no accident, that’s genetics at work. “True Grit’s” dam has produced her fair share of herd bulls. 2 years ago her son “Midas” was one of the top selling bulls going to Dwayann Simmentals, ON & Billa Park Beef in Australia. The other really key element of “True Grit” is although his pedigree is not new, it is no doubt somewhat different from several out there. Here’s a bit time player “True Grit”.

“Corona” is a bull you appreciate more and more each day. One of only two off aged bulls in this years’ sale that will certainly be able to do a bigger job. His dam is an awesome young cow that as a heifer produced one of our high-lite bulls that year selling to Three Hills Colony. “Corona” is somewhat similar in the fact that he combines calving ease, with growth. Certainly 2 traits we like to see working together. If you require a bull to cover a bit more ground, and add lots of extra length into a calf crop, then be sure to have a “Corona” sale day.

“Stockton” is another single representative from a sire, who we purchased back from R-Five Simmentals to get us out of a bull wreck. You will note that he is a youngster, but also note the growth and performance he possesses. His dam is an incredible young cow that as a first calver produced our 3rd high seller last year, going to Little Willow Creek, & Alta Genetics. When you stop and analyze the age of this calf, and where he stands in the pen, I think you can truly appreciate the true value of his great young dam. Don’t let me take away from his sire “Stockman” though, just look at the pedigree in this youngster top and bottom and you’ll realize he’s something special. In a late March sale he could perhaps be the lead off bull.

I am a true believer in that you always have to be on the hunt for a herd bull. When I first saw “Barbossa with his dam on a hill side in Quebec, I instantly thought this is a bull we seriously need to look at. He is from one of Ferme Gagnon’s top cows, in my humble opinion the top cow, and I maintain you need to have cow power in order to have bull power. Our intentions were to use him on both cows and select heifers. When those first calves hit the ground we realized we had something very special. He is extremely easy calving, and the calves grow like weeds. We actually steered a few calves of his at birth because we thought they would be too small. Big mistake as those steers sold in the heavy weight package this fall, as well as another getting selected as a 4-H steer. We were so confident in his calving ability he seen 45 yearling heifers last spring, and he is one great breeder. The polled factor is a bonus, and roughly 1/3 of his calves have been polled. His first calf crop should be very well liked. Look to his sons to add calving ease, without losing any growth.

“Jimmy Bob is from Mackenzie’s 4-H 2 year old cow calf project. Like majority of the “Barbossa calves they start small, but have lots of performance. We discovered when he received his hair cut he does have small scurrs, but carries the polled gene. Calving ease performance and growth will be a very similar story on the “Barbossa sire group. “Jimmy Bob should have a touch more performance, as “Dixie is a cow that is bred to be a bull producer. It’s interesting that “Questo’s” dam is named “Unique”. This is only her 3rd calf, and all three have been very small at birth, and honestly didn’t look like much. Then all of a sudden boom, she shows up with this powerhouse. Her other 2 calves sold for $9000, and $7000. Not a bad average for such a young cow. This is one of the bulls I am going to suggest to you to have an extremely close look at. He will be a curve bender, and he does have plenty to offer. Dark red, super long, and look at the moderate birth weight, and still be performance driven. Wow! Heifer approved.

“Zolton” is one of my top picks from this sire group. When we purchased “Barbossa” I bought him more as a performance bull. Yes he has lots of performance, but he calved so incredibly well he was given 45 yearling heifers last year. I think “Zolton” has many of the same qualities his sire possesses, and perhaps a bit more. A star studded pedigree that certainly speaks calving ease, and no lack of performance. Check out the muscle pattern on this guy, if his calves start off small, and thicken up like him, expect big dollars with minimal inputs. Nice choice for any herd. Heifer approved.

You can’t help but like “Churro”. Garren has an incredible young core of cows, and “Tyra”, this bull’s grandmother, is the base of that group. “Churro’s” dam is a full sister to “Mr. Gibbs”, who sells as lot #20. I always maintain that when selecting herd bulls they need to have a good mother. As a first calver “Tara” has defiantly proven her value to us. Combine all this with the fact that he is polled, can be used on heifers, and has performance, hakes him a superstar. Everyone loves a “Churro”. Heifer approved.

He come from a really honest “Montana” daughter, who is super fertile, and raised her first calf as a baby herself, bred back matured, and hasn’t missed a beat. “Precision” is a bull that possesses some really neat qualities. First he has an outcrossed African pedigree. Outcrossed genetics, always a plus. He’s polled, also a bonus. He’s a good calf, and deserves to be a bull regardless of all the above mentioned. We purchased “Regal’s” dam from Stout Bros. last year. We knew with her being bred to “Regis” calving would be a non-issue, as well as the fact of having a highly marketable calf. What we didn’t count on was that we would end up with a Polled “Regis”. Well that’s exactly what we got, and I can’t help but think someone is going to be smiling like the cat that got the canary sale day when the hammer falls. “Regis” and his sons have been so consistent in calving ease, and combined with the added bonus of “Regal” being polled is just good stuff. If there was ever a bull to rival “Regis” for all the same great traits, it was his son “Rawlins”. He’s still hard at work, now walking the pastures for Diamond Rio Ranch, and I know every time I talk to them they brag him up. The “Rawlins” daughters have also been a huge hit in our Pasture Treasures Sales, and the ones we have here are dynamite producers. “Zurita” is from a first calving heifer we brought up out of Texas, with a different twist on pedigree. We had a few bull casualties leading up to this calf crop, so you will notice a few smaller sire groups of younger age. “Damascus” is a bull we sold several years ago to Rick & Evelyn Sanderson, and we were fortunate enough to lease him and use in our heifer pen. This is his only calf in the sale, but we were so pleased to have been able to access him, that we leased him again last year, with hopes of creating some daughters to add into our herd. If you’ve ever had an “Antonius” cow you’ll understand why we wanted to use him again. Look to “Damion” for calving ease, as well as strong maternal traits. Heifer approved.

The true signs of a great herd bull, are consistency, and this bull has the “Jahari” stamp of approval. A deep red soggy beef bull, with lots of hair, and tons of eye appeal. A big part of our program has always been our ET program. A couple years ago, after many attempts, we were able to add “Elexis” into our donor pool. She is a cow I have admired from the first time I seen her as a calf, and watched her develop into the powerhouse she is today. She made her debut for us last year, with 4 sons in the sale producing the high seller, and averaging over $10,700 on those sons. There is power in pedigree, power in cow families, and power in past history. “Imax” who was last year’s high seller has been seen in several sales this past fall as a service sire, and his calves are eagerly awaited. “Ninja, Zorro, & Swagger” are 3 litter mates that will certainly impress the most astute cattlemen. A full sister “Lexi” who is polled, will possibly get fast tracked into our donor pen, she’s that good. “Legend” need no introduction what so ever. An awful lot of guess work has been eliminated here for you, combining many of the most desirable traits in these three great prospects. 21

“Gladiator should be a heifer bull deluxe. A heifer bull that offers so much more. He won’t just be eye candy for your heifers, or cows if you so choose, but this guy has performance as well, and a stellar pedigree. His calves will be extremely marketable. One of the toughest things to find in my opinion is a heifer bull that has that extra punch, well “Gladiator has all that. In all honesty if we were in the market for a heifer bull this year, he’s one I would really have to consider for ourselves, and I would really like to keep an eye on him in the future, just in case we need one. Heifer approved.

We have one full sister to him, “Lois who is a family favorite cow, she has produced several great bulls and a donor cow for DJ Farms in ON. “Buchanan is a bull that I suggest to you to keep all his daughters. In order to create the great ones there has to be a great cow. “Buchanan is from a great cow, and will produce the females equal to her. Heifer approved.

“Terminator” was a very versatile bull for us. We were able to use him, on cows and heifers with confidence. Due to our smaller purebred numbers, we sold him to Terry Shewkenek after breeding season. He is a bull that would breed a large volume of cows, and for many years. Although not all his calves will be stamped as heifer approved, they should be an easy calving sire group, that transmit lots of growth, length, and his sons will all be polled.

“Big Z” is one of the calves that was a true standout at birth. His mother is an awesome “Power Cat” daughter, that I wish we had many more just like. She’s the type of cow that can be bred to anything, and expect good results, and always looked at the top of her game. This will be a bull that combines calving ease with excellent growth traits, and produce a heavy set of calves at weaning time. Although we didn’t test him, he also has a very high probability of being homozygous polled.

This cow has been a solid bull producer with sons working at Battrum Cattle Co, Poole Farms, and Bernie & June Thul’s. We try to breed a handful of Full Fleckvieh cows red each year, with hopes of producing either heifers for ourselves to retain, or very marketable commercial bulls to sell. “Odie” is one of my top picks in the red group, and incidentally had a full brother who sold to Ferrybank Colony a few years ago, who was also one of my top picks. He is a soggy loose made bull, that will produce heavy weight steers, and his daughters will be rock stars. As to where you use him the choice is yours, one thing is certain though he will calve very well, add length, and muscle pattern. He is just simply a real good cowboy bull. A full brother to “Zack” sold in last years sale to Bruce Scott. A very similar bull, from a great cow family. Use a bull like this to add some chrome onto a set of solid colored cows, or keep that blaze on an existing set of baldies. We had the opportunity to purchase our lease cows from Nathan as which she was a part of, and was a key factor in buying that group. This guy’s mother has been a solid producer as well, producing heifers that have been added into our herd, as well as a bull selling in last years sale to Holt Agri. Oh Baby, what a bull!! I had given very serious thought to keeping this guy for ourselves to use on our purebred heifers, and the only reason I chose not to is because of our small numbers, and how limited we would be in his use. He is an absolute tank, with a big hip, broad top, lots of hair and tons of capacity. His pedigree is loaded with calving ease with Bravado, Terminator, Montana, Legend, Metro, Regent, and Antonius all in his pedigree. He is a 1/4 Fleckvieh, so he will be somewhat of a different pedigree to many purebreds, and we will have results back by sale day to see if he is homozygous polled. He has unlimited potential, and we would like to retain 100 units of semen for in herd use. Don’t let this guy pass you by, he’s one of those bulls that would get progressive in price as the sale season goes on. Heifer Approved.

I have been stoked about writing the story for “Wolfman” for some time. Yep, we’ve been raising Fullblood cattle for 30 years, and sure our Purebred program is still in its infancy, BUT I feel we are on track with our program as to where I want to be. Part of that key is to have the walking power, and I feel “Wolfman” is the one to take us to that next level. This bull blew me away from the first moment I saw him. His dam is an older, very productive cow that will produce beef. We partnered up with our good friends at Soderglen Ranches to own this bull. His calves are stamped with lots of volume and capacity, thick hair coats, broad topped, and moderate. They are an awesome sire group that we really look forward to sharing with the cattle industry.

This is a whale of a bull. He should have been on display at this falls heifer sale, but we didn’t have enough space for everyone. He is a calf you can’t help but notice every day. He has a great attitude, and is put together right in every way. When we started our purebred division, one of the goals was to develop a core group of cows. His dam was an easy choice for us, as she stems back to the same cow family as “Dorothy Jane”. The “Wolfman” calves are so similar from top to bottom, the true signs of a great breeder bull. “Montezuma” has really stood out right from birth, and comes from a picture perfect young cow. Dark, dark red, with lots of rib shape, hair, top, and hip. Another very important feature on “Wolfman” is the incredible foot structure he has. “Montezuma” has all the credentials to be a breeder bull, and we also had him homo polled tested, and were hoping to have results back prior to cataloguing. None the less this is a serious bull that can work both ends of the pen. Heifer approved.

This guy was about 3 days old when his mother decided a snow drift would be a better place to spend the night during a blizzard, rather than a calf shelter. Unfortunately due to the elements he has short ears, but he’s certainly not short on quality. Everything else is really right about this long bodied dark red bull. He has the very typical “Wolfman” hair coat, and is stamped much like the rest of the sire group. He will likely be bought at a bit of a discount because of his short ears, but here’s a thought. He actually doesn’t need ears to breed. Have a good look at “Exposure” he will be a good purchase.

“Lone Wolf” is the youngest of the “Wolfman” calves, and from an awesome producing cow. She has produced bulls for C&G Ranch, and Grant Bailey, as well as a heifer for Mud Butte Simmentals, and one in our herd. Every year her calf is one we look forward to seeing at weaning time. “Lone Wolf” has lots of performance, and will produce a heavy set of steer calves, and a great set of replacement females. An excellent representative of this sire group.

A full brother to “Texas Red” sold to Don Jess last year, and his dam is a very productive cow, in which we have developed a cow family from. “Texas Red” has been one of the stand out right from the get go, and continues to mature into a valuable herd bull. His sire “Red Texas” is a bull we purchased a semen package on, and we have been very satisfied in the calves we have produced, as well as impressed by the many other individuals we have seen him sire. They all appear to have good growth, and lots of hair. This is a bull from a great cow with a great future.

A big thank you goes out to Dan and Karen for inviting Snider’s Cattle Service and Little Man’s Herd to this outstanding sale. We are bringing in a few bulls that are a good cross-section of our programs. We run approximately 20 mother cows and breed for quality and longevity. Under the Little Man’s Herd farm name, Cooper has brought out 3 embryo black bulls from LFE Candy Kisses, the cornerstone of his program. Snider’s Cattle Service, with newest herdsman Owen, is excited to bring 1 black and 2 red bulls to Rimbey. We are proud of the genetics that we are able to offer this year. If you have any questions or would like to preview the bulls prior to the sale, please call or drop by the farm, 6 miles east of Viking.

Here is a bull that adds calving ease and power. I know that it sounds contradictory. His pedigree has calving ease all through it, but he is an extremely powerful bull with depth, hair and bone. This calf will make everyone money; letting you sleep through the night when his calves are born. Wild Card’s mother has a great udder and we liked her so much we show her last year. Like her son, they both have a perfect profile that makes them remarkably showy. Take some time to study Wild Card and don’t overlook the obvious, he may be the sleeper of the sale. There is a very good chance of this calf being homo polled, homo good. I won’t fill you full of bull, so judge him for yourself.

This bull calf has always impressed me, from the day he hit the ground this bull has been an eye catcher. He is longer than a freight train and has loads of middle. His mother has a picture perfect udder with great maternal instincts. We are impressed with his fleshing ability and he has grown into an outstanding herd sire prospect. Folks coming into the yard have all commented on the power and body type that this calf offers. He is multi-generational polled and comes with a white blaze to make his calves stand out at the market. If you are looking to add some red genetics into your herd, this boy may be the one for your herd.

Little Man’s Herd is very proud of these three flush brothers out of Kisses. They offer incredible length and depth which is highly sought after and hard to obtain. These boys have an outstanding disposition to go along with their incredible bloodlines. They will change up any herd they are put into by adding power, performance, hair and muscle. With EPD numbers as great as they are, you will keep every daughter out of these bulls. The predictability of these calves is written in the numbers.
