Welcome to our Seventh Annual Bull Sale
Welcome to the 7th Annual KSL Simmentals Bull sale. On behalf of our whole family and crew we thank you all for considering KSL genetics for your programs. 2024 opened new markets for us and we continue to get to work with the absolute best people in the industry. From loyal bull customers, selling registered heifers, commercial bred heifers, embryos, semen and flushes on our proven donors; We feel so lucky to produce these genetics for the industry. The customers we get to do business with are the absolute best in the cattle industry and we Thank you so much for your patronage and support. It truly means so much to have people believe in our program as much as we do. We will continue to produce genetics that we feel will add to your bottom line, produce pounds and make your programs succeed. We look forward to working with you all in 2025!!
Brad and I are forever on the search for new genetics to improve our herd and make new connections in the industry. We truly do eat, sleep and breathe cattle and agriculture much like our customers. We take immense pride in being seedstock breeders but also value our commercial approach to functional cattle and know the needs and reality of commercial operations. We manage our registered cattle no different than our large commercial herd. We understand that these cattle need to perform in harsh conditions and stand up too many different environments and management types. The investment in a new herd sire can be critical to your herd and have its lasting effects for years down the road. The bulls on offer have been through rigorous culling. We have grown our registered herd to over 400 breeding females to allow us to produce a large pen of bulls, but also give us the ability to watch those bulls develop and mature with characteristics that are desirable. If they don’t, we can remove the bulls and cull them without hesitation, improving the quality of the bull pen. We strive for consistency within sire groups and offer a variety of different options for our customers. There isn’t a sire group in the bull sale that we haven’t utilized in our own commercial herd, believing they offer genetic advancement in every sense of the industry.
Within this year’s bull pen there is some exciting AI calves in the January born yearling bulls as well as endless walking sired calves. With over 50 bulls in our bull battery, we love the exciting sires we out right own and use here at KSL. There is a mix of calving ease sired bulls as well as a great amount of powerful performance bulls. From red, black, fullblood or our Charolais’s we feel the bull pen truly has a bull that could work for many different operations. We understand the importance of selecting your next herd sire, so we invite you to come tour the bull pen at any time or reach out to Brad or myself with any questions. On behalf of Keegan, Brad, the entire family at KSL and all of us at Bohrson Marketing, we wish to extend a warm welcome to the 2025 edition of the KSL bull sale, which is their 7th annual live sale at the farm. The KSL operation is compromised of a large cowherd with a heavy emphasis on foot and udder quality and over all do-ability. They run their papered cows right along side their large and impressive commercial cow herd and they are raised and bred to work. They are expected to thrive in any environment with minimal input and big output. You can always rest assured when you choose to buy your bulls at KSL, that they are backed by sound, functional females that get the job done. The bulls on offer this year are as consistent and deep in quality as ever before. The yearling division is brought up through their strict 5 week breeding program and these bulls are born in January and early February. These bulls are raised along side their mamas and weaned in the fall. They are developed responsibly and will be in great working order for you come turn out time. Like the two’s, they are predominantly sired by powerful walking bulls that call KSL home with some really neat proven and fresh genetics made up through the ai and embryo transfer program. The extra age bulls are strategically designed to be born on grass and raised along side their mothers until weaning. They spend the summer as yearling’s out on grass growing out and practicing athleticism. The bulls are brought in late fall to begin a feed ration to help promote lean muscle and growth. These bulls are in ideal condition and bred for longevity. They are a unique opportunity to step into age advantage bulls in both Purebred and Fullblood Simmental as well as Charolais options. These bulls have the age, size and stature to get out and service more cows and handle those big pastures with lots of females. The bull pens as a whole are as deep in options as ever before and we truly believe there is something to suit every program. We heavily encourage you all to join us at the ranch near Beaverlodge for this 7th annual event. The combination of the people, bulls and overall hospitality is not to be missed. HETERO BLACK - A true sale feature, Major may just be the most exciting black bull we have ever raised. Big middled and stout made he has exploded with shape and growth since birth. We feel the potential of this exciting young herd sire is endless as he offers an outcross pedigree to the black cattle. His powerhouse dam was purchased from our good friends at Northern Lights Simmentals in Manitoba. Nac Missy 51D or Neci as we call her is a big bodied broody female that is easy keeping and well balanced. She is a heavy milking cow that has perfect teat size. The fleshing ability that she continues to pass on to her calves is notable and we love the solid foot she gives to her offspring. Paired with Jolt this tanky black bull impresses us daily as a very complete breeding piece.
-another Jolt x Mafia with an added shot of Red titan on his dams side, Makari brings together three red bulls we truly believe in producing quality red cattle here at KSL -a performance bull with a cow to back him up -the breeding options on an exciting red bull like this makes deciding which cows to use him on tough, because he could work so well on a variety of cows, we utilize bulls like this in our own herd to produce pounds or high-end replacement females
-an Export yearling bull on offer, Mexxer is long made and really put together well -his Westcott dam was our favourite bred heifer of 2024, she is deep bodied and soft made with a great temperament, she will pave her way into the top end of our red females without a doubt -a nice mix of calving ease and performance, don’t let his birthweight fool you his first calving dam had him unassisted with ease, showing the capacity and ability, she has to calve and produce big time calves
- a fullblood sired red bull, Mudslide is the darkest red bull in the pen -his dam was being covered by a young bull we weren’t sure was breeding well so we pen bred her to NUG Kody to be sure and she was serviced, and sure enough Kody got the job done for us, which I feel was a blessing in disguise because this dark “purple” bull as some call him is a pen favourite -added stretch and length 26m is going to be a powerhouse and leave a mark on a herd, Fleckvieh influenced and unique to his pen mates makes Mudslide a cool one to add to any bull battery
-added length and frame -smooth made from a very exciting sire, and up and coming very good Westcott dam -Marshall may be a touch behind his pen mates as he came off grass with a sore foot, but he continues to catch up and perform well
-smooth polled Game On son with great hair coat, and loose made -big framed highly productive dam that milks very well with a great udder -a set of buckskin calves sired by Macho man will ignite the ring when you ship your calves

TERMS:
The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, and wire transfers, payable at par at the sale location unless satisfactory payment arrangements have been made prior to the sale with seller, buyer and Bohrson Marketing Services. Bohrson Marketing Services reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Payment in full must be made before cattle can be released and shipped. Exchange rates will be announced sale day and the sale will be held in Canadian funds.
BIDDING:
All animals to sell through the sale must be sold by auction with each animal selling to the highest bidder. Private sales will not be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.
DISPUTES:
In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in the dispute. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid and the auctioneer’s decision will be final.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Any announcement from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.
CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY:
A registration certificate issued by the applicable breed association and a certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after final payment has been made.
HEALTH:
All sale animals have met all necessary health requirements and it is the buyer’s responsibility and expense to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Bohrson Marketing Services assume no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.
PURCHASER’S RISK:
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.
LIABILITIES:
All persons attend the sale at the their own risk.
SHIPPING:
Shipping of cattle, semen and/or embryos are the responsibility and expense of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to provide shipping instructions at settlement on sale day.
