that time of year again when we welcome you to the 2024 Edition of Pasture Treasures Sale. 17 years ago we decided to start this sale, hosting an event when the weather is usually nicer and you have way more time to get these bred heifers settled into their new environment pre calving. We are very pleased with this year’s offering as they are a powerful set of females coming in working rig, as you would typically see them 365 days of the year.
Has there ever been a more exciting time to be in the cattle industry? Record prices seem to be normal on a steady basis. There is no point in posting what the cattle prices are as they seem to find a new high each week. With this strong of market we will see a big cull on cows again, shrinking the production end even more, strengthening the market even further. The demand for big performance cattle has never been higher, and with fewer cows in production the need to maximize weight will be evident. Once again makes you pretty proud to be in the Simmental business, where we can not only produce those big pounds efficiently, but can also have the maternal strength to raise them.
As in the past the vast majority of this year’s sale will be composed of bred heifers, heavily influenced on the Fleckvieh side. We started with Fleckvieh cattle all the way back to 1981, and developed a core group of cow families in that time that reflect our focus on the industry. Our purebred division is much smaller in numbers; however we are very excited about where we have been headed to in this section. The addition of “El Dorado” has been exciting for us, as his first calf crop is simply amazing, and we were fortunate enough to have a daughter of his crowned Purebred Champion heifer calf at this year’s National YCSA show. We are pleased to complete this year’s offering with a few genetic lots, as well as a handful of cattle from some tremendous guest consignors. Top to bottom, there will be something for everyone.
As in the past a strong majority of our own heifers made their way through the AI pen for one cycle. We have been doing this the past several years, which has allowed us to be much tougher on assessing physical soundness, quality and temperament when we work with these heifers one on one. The heifers are also bred to proven calving ease bulls, with the exception of one new walking bull. These are bulls we feel will not only calve well, but also add value to the marketability of their progeny. All heifers were Ultra Sounded 28 – 60 days of pregnancy so we are very confident of the breeding information. Heifers have received safe guard, and will be rechecked to pregnancy prior to the sale to ensure they are settled.
For any guests traveling a distance new this year we are a part of three sales, starting off on Thursday at Black Gold, and finishing on Saturday at Beechinor Land & Livestock. This is a great opportunity to visit with fellow breeders and see some outstanding cattle in the process. For anyone unable to attend our sale it is a live event, and is not on internet. Anyone wishing to watch it can do so on the Anchor D Ranch Simmentals Facebook live page. Bidding is not available there. We encourage you to stop in prior to the sale for a tour and a visit. If you are unable to attend in person don’t hesitate to call and discuss your needs with ourselves or any of the sale crew as they have been through and assessed the consignments. If we can be of any assistance please let us know. We look forward to seeing you October 11.

Our fall calving program is small, but we have been able to produce some pretty special cattle out of this section. “Kelly” is a female that combines style, pedigree, performance and comes in a Homozygous Polled package. “Creed” has certainly done his best to secure a spot in our program as an elite bull, and combined with the “French Attack x Barbossa” combination, well that is the same genetic explosion as the high selling “Abigail” from the World sale, selling to Double Bar D Farms, SK. “Kelly” is a female with a very exciting future, something very special here.

Not every mistake is a bad thing, and “Kloe” is living proof. Two of the sale bulls decided that a quick visit to the cow pen was in order and “Kloe” was the result of an unplanned mating. It was a fun surprise to guess which cows got bred and to who, but the results are in and “Swagger” you are the father. Ironically we have bred “Kloe’s” dam to her grand sire “French Attack” before and she does happen to have one of the top bull calves in the pen from him this year, so getting bred to “Swagger” wasn’t a bad thing. In fact it added another degree of an already great cow family into the mix in “Image 21J” who just happens to be one of our cornerstone females in our entire program. End of the day you are getting a big deep bodied broody female loaded with cow power and bred to our newest heifer bull “Intrepid”. Good things are bound to happen here.

“Kehlani” is a female we are very stoked about. Her dam was a former high seller in our sale purchased by Canadian Donors. This young cow is absolutely flawless. This past fall at the World Simmental sale Garren sold a female that was “Creed x Barbossa x French Attack. Well that same genetic explosion is found in “Kehlani” just in a little different sequence. This cross works and trust me this female will be worth every penny. Her dam has an extremely bright future and her grand dam has proven her value to our program already. This is a powerhouse in the making and the breeding to “Intrepid” only adds extra value.

This will be our final year of offering “Ulysses” daughters in our sale and “Kelsey & Kassidy” will lead the charge. “Ulysses” did a masterful job for us over the years, and now graces the pastures of Starwest Farms. If you have never seen this bull in person he is plumb impressive. Massive in body mass and possibly the easiest keeping animal we have ever owned. His daughters will have that same body capacity, lots of hair, and lots of growth and are phenomenal cows. The dam of these females is a beautiful young female who is highly productive. They started life small, and “Kassidy” was fostered onto another cow, but as you can clearly see they are not so little anymore. This is a big powerful pair of heifers that will certainly put some sale bulls in the pen or some fantastic females in the replacement pen. You can’t go wrong with either or both of these exceptionally broody females.

Not exactly sure how this heifer ended up straight white faced, as both of her parents are heavily pigmented, but the most important part is still there, quality. “Keanna” comes from a strong cow family that ironically typically adds pigmentation. This is the same cow family that produced “Camouflage, Kings Ransom & Shazam” to name a few. There is tons of longevity built into this female as “Precision” completed another breeding season this year at age 9, and her 11 year old grand dam was selected as one of the females to be on display at the World Simmental tour we hosted at our place this past August. An early breeding to “Radioactive” could prove very valuable.

It was a sad day last fall when the dam of “Kalentina” came in open. We all have those certain females we are fonder of, and this cow was one of those. She was a female who looked the part 24/7 and was admired by all visitors. Originally “Kalentina” was penciled in to be her mother’s replacement, but numbers dictated otherwise. This is a female with exceptional length of spine, lots of eye appeal and an outstanding temperament. She will be a female that will mature nicely and will be an eye popper. Being bred early to “Radioactive” should produce a calf with added pigmentation, and added calving ease while still boasting enough performance. A female that should easily work into anyone’s program.

I may hear about “Kona” being in the sale from Grandma. I think she mentioned this heifer to me weekly about her being one of her favorites. Her dam is an awesome cow, who never misses and was certainly a standout at the world tour this year with her whopping “Creed” heifer calf at side. She also just happens to be a ¾ sister to “Hitch” one of the herd bulls working at JB Livestock. This has been a great cow family for us, just steady and consistent. “Kona” will be a solid producing cow that I certainly expect big things from. Being bred back to “Radioactive” should truly be quite special. This may very well be one of the sleepers in this year’s sale. I almost forgot to mention, she loves people, and she is a pet. Free advice, have a close look at her and don’t let “Kona” sneak through the cracks, she will be worth every penny.

When we select sale heifers, there are always certain ones that we struggle with putting in the sale, as they are females we know would add so much value to our own program, but also realize those are the ones that must be in the sale. “Liberty” is without question one of those special heifers. We have retained a full sister to her in our own program, whose first calf sold for $10,500 to Sagwich Land & Livestock in Oregon. Her dam is a female we purchased from Garren through this sale, and her mother is none other than “Clarabelle”, Garren’s very first show cow, who certainly needs no introduction. “Liberty” is a beautiful heifer, possessing great hair, heavily pigmented, dark hooved, deep bodied and broad topped. As an added bonus she is mated back to “Intrepid” who we are very excited about. The baby she is carrying could very well be a knockout. This is a very special lot.

Her dam is a female we purchased from Garren, and is a granddaughter of “Jezebel” who I have stated more than once is my personal favorite cow on the whole farm. Our program is very centered on cow families and cow power. “Luna” is backed by numerous power cows. She is no accident and will no doubt be a powerhouse herself. This is a great one in the making.

A different blend of pedigree in “London”. There is not an abundance of “Jungle” cattle out there. A bull who certainly adds performance and extra frame size, which is evident in this female. Her grand dam “Elexis” was a female we were very fortunate to have in our program, and still have a small embryo inventory on. Her biggest accomplishment for us was probably producing “Imax”. He is a bull we still use in our program for his calving ease and excellent daughters he produces. “London” definitely offers a different twist and is a female that you can go several ways with. Lots of different options here.

We now have a number of “Fort Knox” daughters producing, and we are super impressed with them. “Lelena” may not be the prettiest female in this year’s offering, but will certainly be a female that will add value for her new owner. We quite often find a blend that works and go back the same way for a few years. Then there are other cows we use as variety of different bulls just to switch up genetics. The dam of “Lucia” is one of those cows as she offers old school genetics and provides a whole different blend of genetics. We sold a sister to “Lucia” by “French Attack” in last year’s sale to Croft Creek Ranch, BC. She came back with this powerhouse this year by “Fort Knox”, and now has a wicked good bull calf by “Bowman” this year. Three outstanding calves in a row by three different sires. That’s one of the appealing aspects of “Lucia” is the diversity she will offer. Bred back to “Precision” will certainly yield an outstanding calf.

This is an extremely attractive female. Dark red, heavily pigmented, smooth fronted and from a great cow family. Her grandmother was an outstanding cow we purchased from Beechinor Bros, and her dam was her final calf. As I had mentioned this was a cow family that was super productive for us over the years. “Tawney” herself is a little more moderate and refined than the bulk of the “Ulysses” daughters tending to follow more along the lines of “Radioactive”. The best thing is she will carry traits from both with the blended calving ease and refinement combined with sheer power and growth, with added muscle. The breeding to “Precision” should prove to be very complimentary.

The dam of “Lolita” is a very productive cow we purchased from Sunny Valley. This is a heavy milking, deep bodied female that can bring in a big calf every year. The “Precision” daughters probably don’t get the praise they deserve enough. They are females that tend to keep birth weight in check but can still add growth. I look to this female to be a heifer that will moderate birth weights, maintain growth and be very easy fleshing in a mid-framed package. I think the breeding to “Gannon” will be a superb cross on her. He certainly made his presence known in both the bull sale and female sale last year. He does only have one daughter in this year’s sale as we sell many services to him so we tend to not have as many of his calves for ourselves. This will be an outstanding cross.

We had sale tagged the heifers for the World Tour, so this lot is a bit out of place in the catalogue, replacing a female that had to be pulled. Regardless of what ever lot number this is, this is truly an exceptionally elite lot. We have only ever sold 2 embryos before on “Ziley”, when we offered pick of the tank for the mystery lot one year, selling to XRC Simmentals. “Ziley” has been a pretty good cow for us to say the least. Her offspring have averaged just shy of $25,000 and is most likely known as the dam of “Raptor”. We have only had one full sibling to these embryos to date, “Abracadabra”, who was the lead off bull this spring, selling to Stone Simmentals for $24,000. “Creed” certainly needs no introduction as he has already done great things for our program, and anchored the lead off sire group at this year’s World Simmental sale where his three direct offspring sold for $88,000, $80,000 & $30,000. These embryos are stored at DRI and are Canadian or USA exportable. This is something truly special.

“Lauren” should be a very easy heifer to find sale day. A super dark dark red smooth polled heifer with extra performance. I know several people had commented on this outstanding pair of heifers, which their mother did an incredible job on raising them both. She bred right back and has a front end bull calf this year. It’s not like this is something new, in fact quite the opposite. Tried tested and true. The “French Attack” daughters are quite easily some of our very best cows. To this point the dam of “Lylah” has only given us heifer calves. Her first daughter sold to Northwind Ag Ltd, SK her 2nd, 3rd and 4th have all been “French Attack” daughters. #2 was retained by us; “Lylah” is #3, and #4 looks to be one of the top heifer calves this year. Her grand dam was also bred several times to “French Attack” which resulted in “Hibiscus” who was our high selling heifer the year she sold going to Faulkner Farms, Arkansas. A very proven track record indeed and mated to “Radioactive” will be phenomenal.

We have pretty much gotten into the routine of AI’ing the bulk of the heifers for the past several years, on natural heats. The only drawback to that is if we miss one in heat detection, which is the case with “Darby”. So yes she is bred a bit later than most in the sale but of no fault of hers. This is a big powerful polled female with added frame. She is a female who comes from an outstanding cow family. Her dam is a no miss female who was sold last year in a package of females going to Champ Simmentals. She will do great things for them as well. For anyone not wanting to calve earlier but wanting to add a polled powerhouse into their program, “Darby” is unquestionably the ticket.

“Loretta” is a very complete package. She is a very well balanced female that comes from a nice young cow we purchased from Michael Maronda. She has a combination of calving ease as well as power throughout her pedigree, balanced with high maternal qualities. You will note her exposure date is a little longer than the bulk of the females, as she wasn’t confirmed safe on the first preg test so we didn’t want to send her to pasture and miss her getting bred. The combination to “Granbury” should be very complimentary as we have used him for a few years now, and he seems to cross very well on the “Precision” daughters. We now have several “Fort Knox” daughters in full production, and they are really nice cows. “Lorenna” comes from a very productive cow family that stems back to “Bar None Lois”. This was the main cornerstone cow for Richmond Farms, and we were fortunate enough to acquire a couple of her granddaughters over the years, both of which made a huge contribution to our program. “Lorenna” also traces back to a couple of tremendous bulls for us in “Intuition & Windsurfer”. We never really used these two as a cross much but when we did it worked well. This will be a female that should have a flawless udder, great feet and strong fertility. Over the years there has been quite a bit of trading take place when the kids picked show cattle. Well the dam of these two heifers “Ember’ was on the reverse side of the swap, as she was what we ended up with when Mackenzie chose a show female. This has been an awesome cow for us, and is a daughter of her original 4H female “Candy”. This is a pair of heifers that could have just as easy been in our own pen. A very solid pair of heifers that will be outstanding brood cows. Nothing super flashy, just the type that will “Getter done” time and time again. Both bred plenty early to different sires so giving a few more options as well. Certainly value to be found with “Lizzy & Libby”.

We have really learned to appreciate how good these “Imax” daughters are over the years. We first started using “Imax” simply for his calving ease, as he has been very consistent in being an easy calver but also leaves a very marketable calf in the process. Over time the “Imax” daughters have proven their value time and time again as being some of the highly productive cows that also moderate birth weight and leave a strong majority of their offspring being polled. The udders on these females is as near perfect as you can find. “Abba” comes from a really strong cow family for us that has a stacked pedigree. When going through my records I had wrote down to Parent Verify her as her mom got moved when we were breeding for some reason (I don’t recall), anyways she was with “Sarge” but got moved to “Yellowstone” and I didn’t send in DNA before we were cataloguing. To be quite honest this is a female I had zero intentions on parting with. I have always admired this heifer and the fabulous cow family she comes from. Her great great grand dam was a cow we purchased from the Arnold Brothers dispersal and to this day one of our biggest regrets is that we never flushed this cow. She was a mature female when we bought her and in her time here she left us three females. Those three daughters in turn have developed into one of our largest cow families on the farm. “Elvira” will have a picture perfect udder, complete with pigmented teats, flawless feet which are also pigmented, will be extremely easy keeping, super broody and angular. I honestly think this is going to be a super easy heifer to breed as I am sure she will work with any type of bull you use on her. Why gamble at Vegas, when you have a sure thing right here.

We only have two daughters of “Righteous” in this year’s sale. He is a bull that was to be one of our feature bulls as a yearling and we did write in the footnotes he was a bull we would be interested in incorporating back into our own herd. Well he must have read the footnotes as he ended up being a late scratch from the sale, so we used him for a couple years as cleanup in the heifer pen before he went to work for Blair Torgerson. This will be an outstanding momma cow, and is absolutely stacked with cow families on both sides of her pedigree. She is a heifer we missed on the first round of AI, so was bred a bit later, but did settle to her first service.
“Lucille” will be one awesome cow.

On paper “Laney” is without question a favorite of mine, and in the flesh she measures up to expectations. I can’t say enough good things about the “French Attack” daughters, and “Brittany” is one of my favorites in the herd. Her dam “Becca” was bred this way 5 times producing 4 bulls that all stood in the front of the pen come bull sale time and “Brittany”. The cross with “Bowman” is fantastic and this is a heifer I would expect to hit home run after home run. The breeding to “Radioactive” will be very good, but zero doubt that this will be a heifer you can breed back to anything and expect a good one.

“Lucy” is a larger framed female that certainly possesses extra power. Her dam has been a very good female that Mackenzie purchased from Kindred Spirit. She has produced two sale heifers in the past one selling to Suter Silverado Simmentals, SK and a high seller in last year’s sale selling to Beechinor Bros & Haney Bros. She didn’t settle to her AI and we didn’t see her rebreed, however the ultra sound indicates she will be calving early to mid-February. Mated back to “Granbury” , who just so happens to be the sire of the fore mentioned high seller of Mackenzie’s from last year selling to Beechinor’s & Haney’s. As already mentioned if you are looking to add power, frame and growth, this is the one for you. Her dam is a powerhouse that never disappoints. This is a great cow Mackenzie bought from Ralph Burns and has a wicked pedigree to go along with her. We have used “Imax” as a calving ease bull but sometimes the mating are just so much more than we bargain for. “Lacey” is from a first calving heifer Mackenzie purchased from us as a bred heifer. She will be a moderated framed female, as most of the “Radioactive” females are. They tend to be very easy keeping, nice uddered, great dispositions, with lots of hair and good feet and leg structure. The dams side of the pedigree has been as solid of producing cow family for us as we have, raising some top end bulls along the way. Nothing overly fancy with this heifer, just straight goods. She will be a female that will give you a great return on investment. The mating to “Gannon” should be quite good.

I am really excited about this heifer in this year’s sale. Not only is she good, and the fact that her dam is raising a full sister that is every bit as good or better, but the fact that she comes from Corey and how excited he is about her. For those who don’t know Corey, he is our soon to be son-in-law. He’s not new to the family, he’s been a part of our family for some time, it’s just that it’s going to become official. “Merabelle” is a power house. When we selected females that were potential candidates for the World Simmental sale we wanted to have a few options for back up plans just in case. “Merabelle” was Garren’s choice so I think that is a pretty strong endorsement as to what we think of this female as well as what her potential to influence the breed will be. This heifer is as solid as they come, with a pedigree that is as hot as it gets not only in our program but the breed right now. “Creed” made a huge impact at the world sale and is aging like fine whiskey only getting better and smoother with time. “El Dorado” will have the honors of being this year’s lead off lot to our purebred division. We felt the need last year to find that elite bull for our Purebred division that could take us to the next level. I feel as though we have accomplished that. His first calf crop is simply impressive. Lots of shape in these cattle, structural integrity, phenomenal growth and the dispositions are spectacular. Not that our kids have shown many Purebreds over the years, but this year we were fortunate enough to have the Grand Champion Purebred heifer calf at the National YCSA show with an “El Dorado” daughter. We are extremely excited about his bull pen that will sell this spring as they have already created a buzz. We sold 5 semen packages on him last year exclusive for 2 years with another 15 straws sold in our female sale last fall. We will be offering another 3 packages of 5 again this year, and this is the only additional semen that will be sold this year, so we are able to keep him somewhat exclusive. Semen is stored at Alta Genetics and is exportable. Get in on one of the hottest new bulls on the market.
This is a heifer I have always really liked and I don’t think really got appreciated as much as she should have as we unfortunately lost her dam on grass so “Shakira” was orphaned and did a pretty darn good job on her own. Her dam was a really nice young cow Garren purchased as a bred heifer out of Gagnon’s fall production sale. We have had a lot of success with these ½ Fleckvieh Purebred females. “Shakira” is our very first “Cinderella Man” heifer to sell and I am super impressed with them. This is a very feminine heifer that is very angular, soft made, and just has that cow look about her with a picture perfect udder being developed. I think this is a heifer that will be missed as she is really starting to blossom into what I truly think she will become.

Her dam has a very solid “El Dorado” bull calf at side and will no doubt be a favorite this spring. Lots of performance in this pedigree, but also has a nice balanced blend to moderate birth as well. I think this is going to be one of those females you can literally breed to any type of bull and just expect to get something pretty special. High probability the baby she has in her will be a moderate birth weight black baldie. Bull or heifer it should be quite marketable.

As I had mentioned in an earlier footnote we really have liked to blend our Fullblood and Purebred genetics, allowing us to essentially introduce new bloodlines, but bloodlines that are highly proven. A few years ago we bred all our black Purebred heifers to “Barbossa”, and the dam of “Kenna” is one of the resulting calves. “Kenna” is a blood red female that will offer additional calving ease, sufficient growth, excellent structure and added milk. Start with a cow, build a family and raise what you want. This will be a bull making machine. AI’d to WBL Top Tier 456G –PG1288193- April 2. No exposure. Ultra sound safe to AI, due January 12, 2025.

Another purebred heifer with a shot of Fleckvieh in her pedigree. Her dam ended up coming in open this fall, so I have to admit I was a bit sad we had “Leonora” in the sale. Her dam was a 12 year old cow that never missed a beat. The type of cow that was problem free, and you just relied on to bring in a good calf. She is sired by our “Whiskey” bull who is doing a very nice job for us. This is a female that you won’t break the bank to own, as she is a bit plain colored, but the old saying never judge a book by its cover certainly applies here as this will be a very solid producer. I said to a young up and coming cattleman the other day, when I started I bought some of these not as cool female that were backed by cow families, and started to build from there. For lack of better terms this female would be an incredible starter package. Free advice of the day.

“Livia” is a dark red blaze faced female. I can see her raising some top end bulls in her time for sure. I am interested to see what her baby is going to look like as I think this mating is going to be spectacular. Will it be a baldie, red or black, not really sure but one thing I am certain about it will be very good. As I stated earlier we are super happy with the job “Pillar” has done. They start little but have explosive growth. A pen favorite of ours for sure. Expect this female to just get deeper and thicker as she ages. She will be a beautiful mature cow.

“Lorelai” is another dark, dark red “Whiskey” daughter going back to one of our favorite red cows, purchased from LaBatte’s. “190D” is as productive of cow as we own. She has had all heifer calves up until this year with 3 retained for ourselves and three selling through our sale, where 2 of them happened to be our high selling Purebreds the year they sold to Stout Bros, AB & Todd Simmentals, PQ with the third selling to Rivers Edge Ranch. “Lorelai” will be a very honest productive female and if she turns out to be ½ as good as her dam or grand dam you will have a winner.

“Kovergirl” is a heifer that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. She is a heifer I never had any intentions on parting with, and when sorting sale heifers she was one of the later heifers to come through and we were still looking for numbers so she went in the catch pen. Her dam is a family favorite cow, and was a high selling female we purchased from Triangle Stock Farms. I think the mating to “Top Tier” will be smashing good; everything lines up to say “Kovergirl” is going to be a rock star. Turn her wrong place, wrong time story into right place, right time for you. Free advice; do not let this one sneak through the cracks she will be worth every penny you spend on her and then some.

We purchased the dam of “Liliana” from Maxwell Simmentals and she was the calf that cow was carrying at the time. She is a nice young cow who looks as though she will have a positive impact on our program. We bred “Liliana” to “Pillar” a bull we have used the past several years, and have started to use him that much more in the heifer pen. He calves extremely well, and his offspring have lots of power and growth. This is a nice young female who should be a solid producer. She was not tested, but will be Homozygous Polled by pedigree.

Our high selling Purebred heifer last year was a big powerful Black blaze faced heifer that sold to Deeg Simmentals. She just so happened to be a full sister to “Layan”, and honestly this heifer was never supposed to be in the sale, as this is the last calf crop for “Matador”. I never had intentions on parting with her but we need to sell the best, and this heifer is a strong representative of where we are going. Her dam is a beautiful cow and her grand dam would rank as one of my top picks in our black cows, with a pedigree that certainly works as well. The breeding to “Pillar” just completes the whole package. Have a close look here, a few tears may be shed, she’s the right kind.

Our final female in this year’s sale comes to us via the Sun Rise Simmentals dispersal. You’ve already read more than once about our beliefs in the strength of cow families and how much we appreciate “Pillar” so when an opportunity arose to purchase his full sister we took advantage. In my opinion she had one of the very best heifer calves in the sale, and talking to Evan he praised how productive this cow was. So here is a chance to buy in on a proven cow family but also mated back to a bull equally as proven in “Top Tier”. Also keep in mind with very limited semen on him available, this is something quite special.

With the likes of Canyon, Wow Effect and Cajun Neff, her pedigree is a very cool twist of new and old! Lady Cavill came in dam when I purchased Applecross Cassidy 26K last fall. If my walking herdsire wasn’t a Cavill son, she would be staying here as she is an absolute beauty! Her balance of femininity, natural muscling ability, pear shaped body and docile nature are just some of the traits that make her destined to be a great cow! Her dam has exceeded all expectations on her first calf while keeping a tidy level udder and body condition on a very lean grass year while still raising a big calf. There is not much I would change about Lady Cavill, except for keeping her in my replacement pen! Take a long good look here!

The natural muscling ability these calves display at a young age is second to none and Mesa is no exception! A smaller framed heifer, she packs a ton of WOW factor into a stylish body. An incredibly soggy heifer with great length of spine, hip muscle and femininity; she is honestly hard to miss. Her dam, SKY Lady May 211K, is a first calf heifer with a picture-perfect udder and is a spitting imagine of her calf. Mesa’s grand dam is Anchor D Farissa 242F who honestly has been one of my best female purchases. When Danny said this cow family are workhorses…he was not lying! It’s been several years since we sold any “French Attack” semen. We have sold a small amount in the past, but it has been kept relatively exclusive. Not much we can say that he hasn’t already said for himself. This is without any question the BEST bull we have ever walked at Anchor D!!! Both his sons and daughters are exceptional, and at 9 years of age he is still servicing one of the largest breeding groups. After all these years his offspring are still well over a $10,000 average for us and has over 300 registered offspring in Canada, not too shabby. There is ZERO guess work here. We have truly been blessed to have had such a special individual be a part of our program for so many years, it’s time to share a little, take advantage. We will offer 3 packages of 5 straws if the buyer wishes to purchase additional semen they may do so. Semen will be Canada or USA exportable and stored at Alta Genetics.

“Creed” certainly made his presence known again at this year’s World tour and World sale. After many inquiries about semen we felt we would offer a limited amount for sale. We have offered semen for sale on him in the past through this sale in the same way we will do so again this time. Only 3 packages of 5 are going to be made available just to allow for exclusivity in this elite bull. We always look for that next piece of the puzzle and “Creed” has certainly fit into that role for us, as he has secured his position in our breeding program. To date 22 offspring have sold for just over a $26,000 average. This bull is the real deal, and has the potential to be a game changer. Semen is stored at Alta Genetics and will be exportable.

“Radioactive” is a bull we have confidently used in our heifer pen now for several years. We have been really pleased with how well he calves, but somewhat like “Imax” we are really seeing the true value in him through his daughters as well. You never really know how good of a bull you have, in my opinion, until you get a few years of offspring into production themself. His offspring are low maintenance cattle, very easy keeping cattle that possess great foot and leg structure, nice hair, and tremendous dispositions. His daughters have flawless udders, and his sons seem to have more than enough testicle development. Besides being a bull that has worked well for us on heifers we have also used him on some power cows that we may want to tone down some birth weights on, and moderate a bit but not lose any power in the process. He has worked extremely well in this capacity as well. It’s always tough herd bull shopping but even tougher finding that great heifer bull. “Radioactive” fit the bill and even after losing him at an early age, we confidently continue to use him in our heifer pen. His semen bank is starting to deplete a little so we can’t say if this will be the last we sell, but it will certainly start to become a bit more limited. 3 lots of 5 per package will be offered and semen is exportable stored at Alta Genetics.

Consigned by Estes Ranch - A wise man once told me in the cattle business you need to be good, but also lucky to produce a great one. When Sara and I walked in the old BHR office in Granbury, Texas one night, little did we know luck was on our side! Luck helped select a set of embryos out of numerous different matings that ultimately resulted in Estes Top Gun. Since the moment he hit the ground he has exceeded every expectation we had for him. He is 100% Fleckvieh, homozygous polled, non dilutor that is proven safe for heifers. Top Gun is not just a heifer bull, but his calves have excelled in both the bull pen as well as producing top quality females that have topped sales in the US. If you study his video, you’ll find that not only is Top Gun a powerful easy keeper, but he is a very sound and fluid moving bull. You can’t go wrong investing in a bull like him!

One thing we are always trying to do is figure out ways to add value for you, our customers. For the past several years we have been hosting the “Anchor D Simmental Influenced Calf Sales”, the first week of October. This allows feedlots to purchase large groups of calves with similar genetics, and health protocol in a timely fashion or producers wanting to capitalize on acquiring top end replacement females. This also allows for maximum dollars to be realized as it is added value for both buyer and seller. We are pleased that we will now be adding Charolais calves into the mix this year as well, so be sure to take advantage. For anyone interested in becoming a part of these sales please contact Dan for more details.
