Page 1

Welcome from Pugh Farms First and foremost, we would like to thank all the bidders and buyers from last years sale.We feel we have put together another strong group of cattle for your appraisal. The group is highlighted once again by some top end bull calves who we feel are the forefront of the genetic advancement of our program. Some will have been shown this fall allowing an opportunity for you to see them live at those venues. They will be available to view at the farm anytime prior to the sale, and we will provide video footage of each live lot for you to view online. On the frozen genetic side, we are offering two flushes from two cows that are making a mark on our program. We will once again be featuring Loose Change Semen this year, in smaller dose packages to make it more readily available to all breeders along with a few lots of Majestic Lightning semen. As a special feature, we are also offering a black herdbull who we feel is a powerful individual and has worked great in Amanda and her family’s commercial program. We are incorporating him into our papered program this breeding season, and look forward to partnering with his new owner on this impressive individual. This is an exciting set of genetics with many of them having outcross potential to most programs. We will once again winter the bulls, semen test and deliver them to their new owners at breeding time. Thanks for your interest and if you have any questions feel free to contact us anytime. We are adding more sale day contacts this year also so if you need somebody to proxy bid for you on sale day we can accommodate you also.We look forward to working with you in the future.

How to Bid? PUGH FARMS ONLINE PRODUCTION SALE DATES AND TIMES The auction has been set to run from 9:00 a.m. MST on Sunday, December 1, 2013 with the Internet close out to start with the first lot at 7:00 p.m. MST Thursday, December 5th. We will then proceed to sell each lot using either a 30 or 45 second bidding clock until all lots are sold. Meaning once the pre announced time has expired without a bid that heifer will be considered sold to the last highest bidder. A sale order will be posted 9:00 Thursday morning. If you don’t have computer access, phone in bids will be accepted at the numbers listed on the terms and conditions page. Be sure to register early to allow the necessary time to be put in to the system. HOW TO PARTICIPATE · In order to participate in the online auction you will need to pre-register and obtain a buyer number. · To do this, go to the LiveAuctions website, www.liveauctions.tv, and select Pugh Farms Online Production Sale. · After logging in the buyer registration form should pop up automatically. If it doesn’t there is a link you can select that says, “register for a buyer number” which is located right under your name in the top right hand corner. · This form requires you to fill out your banks name, city, state, phone number and a contact. · You may register to bid after bidding has opened but please remember that authorization to bid is not instantaneous. HOW THE AUCTION WORKS · Once you have a username and have received a buyer number then you are ready to bid.You will see a screen that is unique to your user ID. · There will be a list containing the sale lots. If you click on a lot the video clip or photo will be displayed to the right. The next bid, current price, proxy bid, and manual bid buttons will be displayed below the video area. This page will react to your bids by stating, “you are in” or “you are out”. · No one else will be able to see your bid – that data is not accessible to the public. · Each time you login, the auction screen will display your personal bidding information.Your auction screen is unique and private displaying your activity to only you. · Remember that you must have the lot that you are bidding on selected. This is where it tells you if you are in or out. It is here where you can also see your proxy bid settings(as applicable). WHAT IS A PROXY BID? With a proxy bid you can enter your maximum bid and then sit back and watch. When you enter a proxy bid amount the LiveAuctions system automatically bids on your behalf up to your maximum bid. If the lot closes out for less than your maximum, that’s all you pay. This means that you don’t have to keep coming back to re-bid every time another bid is placed. This makes it more convenient and less time consuming. It can also greatly assists those breeders that can’t be near a computer or are busy with other duties at the time of the final bidding. Your maximum amount is kept confidential from other bidders and the seller. Even though you can see this amount on your screen no one else can. The LiveAuctions system compares your bid to those of the other registered bidders and the system automatically places bids on your behalf, using only as much of your bid as is necessary to maintain your high bid position. The system will bid only up to your maximum amount as necessary to maintain you as the high bidder. If another bidder has a higher maximum, you’ll be outbid and the system will tell you that “YOU’RE OUT”. But, if no other bidder has a higher maximum you win the final bid. The final close out bidding process: After each sale we receive a few calls after the sale from breeders who were interested in bidding on a heifer but failed to watch the bidding clock and let the bidding time expire. When the bidding starts, the bidding clock will run for a pre announced time (usually 30 or 45 seconds or until there is a bid at which time the clock will rewind to its original 30 or 45 seconds. (Whatever time used will be preannounced). For example: if the bidding clock gets down to 1 second remaining then a higher bid is submitted, the clock will then restart. This rewind process will continue with each bid received until the allotted time elapses without a bid. Then the lot will be considered sold. So if you are interested in a particular heifer be sure to submit your bid while there is still time on the clock. This is where using the proxy bid can come in handy insuring you do not miss a bid! LiveAuctions staff will be happy to answer your questions. Jill Mader: (403) 990-9187 Brad Fahrmeier: (816) 392-9241

Thor has been a popular calf since shortly after birth. He is a soft made individual with an ample amount of rib shape and depth of side. He has caught the eye of many cattlemen that have toured this summer and at the pen shows that we exhibited him with his mom, often coming to the top of their class in each interbreed pair show. He will be exhibited along side his mother this fall and he will be entered in NWSS ‘14. He is a very sound individual and is a true merit to the production of his mother. He is a brother to both our high selling bulls out of the sale last year being sired by Lightning and out of the Pathy 255T cow. 255T is continuing to make an impact here and we are offering a flush on her for the first time in this sale. This guy has a bright future ahead of him. We are retaining 50% interest and 50% possession and we can work with the new owners as to which calving period they want to use him as he can work in either our spring or winter calving groups.

Powerful and smooth made older Fat Tony son. He has been a favourite from an early age with his smoothness of pattern and docile personality. We are impressed with his width of base and the muscle pattern he carries into his hock, all while having a narrow skull and smooth muzzle indicating an abundance of calving ease. He comes out of a powerful cow family developed here. His Granddam is none other then the 13K cow who not only mothered the Penelope Cruz heifer calf we featured in last years online sale but who is the founding member of her cow family, a cow family that continues to produce us herd bulls. His 154R mother is as honest and productive as any on the place with the udder and feet quality consistency to leave a mark. He will work well in the heifer pen and will have impact on the cowherd.

We are offering a pick of 3 of 4 of these powerful April born Fat Tony brothers. Fat Tony continues to flat out work for us her We feel each of them would work in our program so we are only retaining full interest on the bull that is picked last of the recommended to work on heifers and we feel they will add weaning performance and strong maternal traits from their dam the body type that is useful and full of do-ability.These guys are all showing above average testicle growth and we feel the at just under 11 months, so we feel fertility is strong in these bulls. We are very excited with this group and feel all

The consistency in producing productive females will run strong in this guy. He is a maternal brother to our King 81S bull who has been a mainstay here for the last six breeding seasons leaving us with a powerful young cowherd. The 81P cow is the honest kind with a solid udder that flows strongly into her Underline and a square teat placement that has passed on to her many granddaughters here. This guy has been noted as being the most complete calf in terms of proportion. He is a touch longer spined than the other 3 brothers and carries the same wide base hip structure that the Fat Tony’s are known for.

This guy is the youngest of the four bulls but he is the one we chose to exhibit this fall to highlight the group of four. His 180R dam comes from one of our largest cow families and one of our most productive. She has been a farm favorite with ample extension through her chest and neck, a wide pin set, and great udder structure. This guy carries that same profile on, with sound structure in his own carriage. As an added bonus he is black pointed; having a dark face and solid dark feet.

re, siring cattle with extra calving ease and the hip and body shape structure that makes them more then just heifer bulls. e 4, meaning whichever one has the lowest value when the auction turns live will stay with us. All of these guys come highly ms.The four cows are very much so a product of our selections, as they all have the udder and foot quality we strive for, and ere is potential for them to work for earlier calving, even with their birth month being April. Fat Tony himself froze semen l four have a lot of genetic merit to offer. Bid with confidence on these guys and feel free to call with any questions.

Here’s a bull that is full of red meat in his hip pattern. He carries an abundance of muscle off of his hook bone down into his stifle. He is solid from nose to tail with a powerful chest floor and a smooth shoulder. His 150R dam is a powerful cow who is big caged and heavy milking, with a very correct udder and a large foot with ample pastern. She is the type of cow who stays solid in her production year in and year out.

This prospect has an explosive rib shape being very sprung over his top and deep in his side. He is stamped with the Fat Tony hip structure and carries himself with an abundance of eye appeal when he is moving. His 181T dam is truly a block of a cow that has his same deep side pattern. She is a moderate female with an udder that is as proportioned as we can breed them. The youngest of the four dams, we feel she has a huge production future here.

Amanda was pretty determined that she wanted this bull from the time he was a calf, and he spent the last 3 seasons breeding commercial cows at her parent’s operation. As they’ve decided to downsize, we were excited to have the opportunity bring this bull back to Pugh Farms. A moderate, stout bull, he’s branded his stylish design on his offspring, with his females being favorites in the replacement pen. His dam is a beautifully uddered, powerful female that’s been a matriarch in our black herd. We believe this rugged herd bull’s strengths lie in his extreme soundness and muscle definition. We’re very enthused about the prospect of seeking a partner on this strong sire. Offering 50% interest 50% possession.

217T, the mother of both this calf as well as our mature bull on offer, has been a true herd sire maker. Her loose jointed, smooth front-ended sons are easy to pick out, and this calf is no exception. This line has consistently produced very typey females that are full of maternal qualities and built to last. If you’re looking to make some solid females in order to build your herd, this guy is worth a second look.

Flush Lots

After selling the right to one flush on this brood matron to Grant Lodge in our last sale we felt that we should offer the opportunity once again this year. This female has flat out worked for us in so many ways. She has produced herdbull after herdbull with having only one daughter born to her, who in turn has been the herdbull producing kind. Her only daughter not only has two feature bulls in the sale this year but her top end son by Voodoo went to Right Cross from the sale last year. 86P herself has continued to impress us with the progeny out of the two walking herdbulls out of her we have used extensively over the years; Voodoo and Stomping Tom. Both bulls have sired real world production females that are making up a great part of our red carrier and black female groups. In her 2012 effort she produced yet again another herdbull by Rito 9969 that was the high selling black bull from this sale. She is the honest kind of female that mated a multiple of ways has continued to produce cattle with an impact. She is solid in her production criteria and solid in her numbers. As an added bonus she flushed 13 eggs last spring of which Grant Lodge froze 8 all while nursing her next calf who will sell this spring. She has a lifetime weaning average of 814lbs on her bull calves to date with a 7/112 ratio. We will sell one flush of 6 eggs to the sire of your choice with our bull battery at your disposal, splitting after 6 eggs. Flush to take place post calving 2014.

We purchased this cow as a heifer calf out of Six Mile’s fall sale and what a female she has turned out to be. She herself was Junior Heifer Calf Champion at CWA that fall and hasn’t been shown since, until we brought her out of retirement for the fall 2013 run with her Lightning bull calf at side. Her first daughter was retained to expand her cow family. Her second daughter was sold privately to L&V where she was Junior Yearling Champion at Farmfair, then went on to produce a herdbull that is seeing heavy use in their program. We featured her Fat Tony son in the sale last year, who was Intermediate Champion at Farmfair and purchased by Papa Jack. Her son this year by Lightning has truly been a tour favorite this summer and we expect big things from him in the future. With a unique pedigree like Pathy 255T has and her strong production record we are excited to offer this flush. We will sell one flush of 6 eggs to the sire of your choice with our bull battery at your disposal, splitting after 6 eggs. Flush to take place post calving 2014.

Semen Lots

ECR Loose Change 1251

We are once again offering semen packages on Loose Change as we feel he is a great breeding piece that can do a lot of good things for the breed. With his first calf crop on the ground here we feel that he is very consistent in his type. He has sired females with extra rib shape and extension with an abundance of angularity. His bull calves are stout and complete with calving ease and weaning performance. Loose Change was the WHC Reserve Junior Champion Bull and the Lloyd Stockade Champion Bull, and in turn placed in the top 4 in the Lloyd Supreme and Top 10 in the Alberta Supreme; the only Hereford to do so. The future for this sire is bright as his EPD’s continue to strengthen even more as time goes by. All semen is for Canadian use only.

As well as siring many sale toppers for the Moxleys and many American breeders that have used him. He has worked well for us siring our heaviest weaning red bulls the last two years.
