Ring in the New Year
By Gregg Shapiro
With A Look Back At Some Reissues Fleetwood Mac followed-up 1977’s best-selling California/Brit-pop masterpiece Rumours with Tusk, a sprawling 20-song double-LP that retained some of its predecessor’s glow, while shading things in considerably. The deluxe edition of the Tusk reissue contains two LPs, a 5.1 surround mix of the original album on DVD, and five CDs encompassing the 2015 remaster of the original recording, an “alternate” Tusk, and two live CDS.
The expanded reissue of Lizzy Mercier Descloux’s 1979 debut album Press Color couldn’t have come at a better time. Renewed interest in the downtown NYC art and music scene is at an all-time high. A punk goddess (think Smith or Deborah Harry with a French accent), Descloux understood the value of a dance beat as well as she did the importance of punk experimentation. Sadly, Descloux, who died in 2004 at 48, isn’t here to enjoy this revival.
The 10-CD box set Five Years 19691973 by androgynous ground-breaking glam and modern rock legend David Bowie consists of seminal recordings, some in newly remastered versions, including David Bowie a.k.a. Space Oddity, The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Aladdin Sane and Pinups. The versions of these gold-colored CDs in the box set don’t include bonus material but the covers are faithful reproductions of the original artwork (some gatefold), inner Led by queer rock legend June sleeves, lyric sheets and other inserts. Millington, the all-female rock band Live albums, Live Santa Monica ’72 and Fanny paved the way for countless Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars women in music, gay and straight. The (the soundtrack to the 1982 concert expanded CD reissue of Fanny’s third movie) are also included. The two-CD album Fanny Hill, finds the quartet Re:Call 1 compiles two dozen nonrocking as hard (if not harder, in some album singles, B-sides and more. The cases) than its male counterparts on a box set also includes the 2003 Ken Scott pair of well-chosen covers (“Ain’t That mix of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust Peculiar” and “Hey Bulldog”), as well as and the Spiders From Mars album. A rock solid originals such as “Knock On 128 page CD booklet features color and My Door” and “Borrowed Time,” Among black and white photos, liner notes and the six bonus tracks you will find a cover more. of Ike Turner’s “Young and Dumb.”

Motor Mouth By Parker Carr As the year comes to an end, it’s not
unusual to look toward the future. So, what’s in the future in the auto industry? Twenty years ago who would have thought that we’d have cars that can park, much less drive themselves? Let’s look at some cars that will most likely be put into production and available for sale in the next few years. Lexus SC Taking cues from Lexus’ LFLC concept vehicle that was introduced at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, the SC features an aerodynamic design that includes a strong front end sporting a spindle grille. The two-door cabin is surrounded by windows that wrap around to the back, making the roof seem to be levitating. It’s expected to have a 5.8liter V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, the same engine as the Lexus RC-F coupe. A hybrid is also likely to be available. The MSRP is expected to be in the $80,000-to-$100,000 range.
Volkswagen Dune Due out in 2017, the Dune a new version of the classic bug, and is essentially a Beetle with two additional inches of ground clearance, and flared fenders for 2.2 inches of extra width. It runs on the same 210hp, 2.0-liter direct-injected turbo four that powers the Beetle R-Line. Problems might occur when buyers realize that the sportylooking vehicle, still has only front-wheel drive and lacks cargo space. The Beetle Dune will run in excess of $20,000. If buyers go for style over substance, it might be a hit
Volkswagen Microbus If the old VW bus brings to mind hippies chugging down the road with diesel exhaust flowing from the tail pipe, the revamped Microbus aims to change that impression. It’s rumored that VW will debut a version of an all-electric Microbus at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. Supposedly VW had planned to but have both gasoline and clean-diesel showroom models ready this winter, but in response to the emissions scandal, opted to showcase the electric concept car.
Citroen Electric Mehari The French car maker has come out with an electric vehicle inspired by the original Mehari cabrio. The new version, a fourseater, is equipped with a removable roof, a 67-horsepower electric motor, roll hoops, Citroën’s signature dual headlights and a body molded from thermoformed plastic, much like its ancestor. However, unlike the earlier model, it will boast an electric motor powered by a lithium-metal polymer pack. Citroën claims a top speed of 68 mph and a driving range of 124 miles. Production has already begun and the new Mehari should be available in a few months. Alas, at this point, it will only be available in France. boiMAG 21

FIT TIPS
a New Year, a New Body
By Michael Elder
Well folks, it’s hard to believe but 2015 is coming to an end. As 2016 approaches, it is only natural to take a moment and think about goals that lie ahead for the coming year. Hopefully for many of you, health and fitness will be at the top of the priority list. Finding time to work out can sometimes seem daunting, especially for those who are brand new to the gym scene. For that reason, I’d like to help you make that first step by highlighting some gyms/ health clubs that not only have a great reputation, but also have a strong LGBT presence.
This gym has an ongoing 3 month special for new members: $150 with no initiation fees or long term contracts. It also allows independent personal trainers to run their own businesses within the gym. Quads is the gym where I do all of my personal training.

That dream was to open a serious gym that was dedicated to the art of competitive bodybuilding and power lifting, while at the same time creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of their fitness background. Unlike other gyms, Quads houses some of the best bodybuilding equipment in the industry and has been consistently listed in several magazines as one of the top gyms in the country. Variety is king here.
