FAMILY NIGHT OUT SERIES
FOOD FOR LIFE
ALL AGES + ADULT Family time is best when you’re learning and working together! Come to one of our Family Night Out cooking classes for some together time in the kitchen. Students under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The cost is per person, and each must register.
Food for Life instructor Barb Smith will share information on cooking and eating for optimal health. Classes are free to attend and include samples and take-home recipes.
GLOBAL CUISINE: EMPANADAS – Dress up seasonal produce in a scratch-made dough. We will make both sweet and savory empanadas full of flavor! HEALTHY HALLOWEEN TREATS – Come get creative as we re-imagine Halloween treats that you will want to devour! Cute and spooky ideas for making the holiday memorable. VEGGIE POT PIES – We will utilize our BUGS garden produce to make customizable individual pot pies with a delicious from scratch crust. THE SCOOP WITH U OF I – Join University of Idaho Extension instructors in an ice-cream making class. FOODS AND PROSTATE CANCER SURVIVAL: Discussion focuses on the research demonstrating how a plant-based diet prevents and increases survival rates after a prostate cancer diagnosis. Featured recipes: Tomato, Cucumber and Basil Salad; Tex-Mex Bulgur Pilaf; Three-Bean Chili FOODS AND BREAST CANCER SURVIVAL: This class looks at the research behind increased prevention and survival rates for individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. FUN & HEALTHY EATING – Sourdough 201 We will cover basics for maintaining your robust sourdough starter, plus learn tried and true recipes for simple and delicious sourdough pizza crust and fluffy English muffins.
