Reykjavík at the turn of the 19 th century a g u i d e d wa l k i n g to u r i n E n g l i s h Hannesarholt offers a glance into the formative years of the city of Reykjavik at the turn of the 19th century. The tour begins at Hannesarholt, the home of Hannes Hafstein, one of Iceland´s most beloved poet, who in 1904 became the first Icelander to be appointed by the Danish crown to the most important post at the time, Minister of Iceland. We begin with a brief tour around the house which Hannes Hafstein built and spent the last years of his rich and colorful life, followed by a short documentary about the man and the era he lived. The walk will then take you into the oldest part of Reykjavík where you learn about interesting historic sites and events from Reykjavík´s cultural and literary history in its formative years. Lunch will be offered after the tour at a special price. The guided tour is an easy pace tour that suits everyone and takes about an hour.
Schedule: Mon through Friday 9:45 – 11:15 am from June 10th to Sept 15th. Price: 7500 IKR (lunch included) / 5000 IKR (tour and film)
