“Manuel Silva” Collection

Talking about this exhibition is, at the same time, talking about the figure who was in charge of the displayed collection. Manuel Silva, also known as “Manuel dos Rádios,” dedicated a great part of his life to collecting a vast and diverse number of radio-related devices. Radiolândia - Museu do Rádio, which houses over a thousand pieces collected by Manuel Silva and his family, bears witness to his passion and entrepreneurial spirit regarding the aforementioned theme.

Manuel Silva became an emblematic figure in our municipality, and his passionate vision allows our museum to preserve the memory of radio in Portugal and around the world since its beginnings, with a wealth of objects that illustrate the evolution of this technology, from the earliest pieces to the most modern ones.

Moreover, it is important to highlight that the collection has significant historical and cultural relevance, allowing for a better understanding of the importance of radio in society and culture, as well as providing access to a heritage that is often forgotten.
