Bolton Libraries are open! All of our libraries and museum locations have reopened fully, though we’re continuing to keep staff and visitors safe by following a few simple rules! Find out more: Click Here

Reserving and requesting items – Order and Collect Our Order and Collect and Home Library Services will be carrying on to support borrowers who are unable to come in to our libraries or prefer to limit their contact for time being. To make use of Order and Collect or to reserve items, go online or telephone Bolton Libraries on 01204 332 853.

Summer Holidays at Bolton Library and Museum Services

Get ready for a fun filled summer holiday with Bolton Library and Museum Services!

We’ve got lots of fantastic activities to keep you and your family entertained across all of our venues.

Bolton Central Library and Museum Throughout the holidays, Monday to Saturday from 11am to 3pm there’ll be: Make It Mondays - Craft Activities Trail It Tuesdays - Try out a different trail (available all week) Wild Wednesdays - Look at small creatures, plants and nature Tabletop Thursdays - Get hands on with objects from our collections Fishy Film Fridays 11am - Watch a fish feed and see a nature themed film Super Saturdays - We will have a range of exciting activities for you to join in Sunday (sessions at 11am and 2pm) - Storytelling session There’ll also be Fish Feeds in the Aquarium at 2.30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Curious Critters at Bolton Libraries

Come along and have the chance to handle and find out more about exotic animals, reptiles and creepy crawlies. Places are free but booking is essential. Visit our website, Facebook and Twitter to see where your nearest Curious Critters event is taking place.

You can access many of our Bolton Library and Museum resources in person at our libraries or online from the comfort of your own home.

Farnworth and Horwich Libraries Library customers in Farnworth and Horwich will be able to visit pop-up libraries whilst both buildings are closed temporarily. Children can also join in summer holiday activities, sign up to the Summer Reading Challenge and collect their stickers, certificate, and a medal. The pop-up library will be at Horwich Community Centre, Beaumont Rd, BL6 7BG on:

Mondays - 9am - 12pm Tuesdays - 10am - 4pm (Children’s summer activities) Fridays - 9am - 12pm

Farnworth’s pop-up library will be at 14 Brackley Street, BL4 9DR and open on:

Tuesdays - 10am - 4pm Thursdays - 10am - 4pm (Children’s summer activities) Saturdays - 10am - 4pm

Summer Reading Challenge Have you joined up the Wild Heroes Summer Reading Challenge 2021? This year’s theme is a celebration of nature and action for the environment, in partnership with WWF UK. Plus we’re calling all young writers to enter a special Summer Reading Challenge story competition! Visit any library in Bolton to sign up for the challenge and find out more about the competition.
