A note from the Head…

I hope that you all enjoyed a lovely half term break.

The girls have arrived in school full of energy, purpose and ready for the busy weeks ahead.

Our pupils are expected to work hard at school but are also encouraged to have fun. There are exciting and informative workshops planned throughout the year, where visitors to school share their expertise and experience with us. This enables our pupils to extend their knowledge far beyond lessons.

Our girls also have the opportunity to venture out on a wide range of trips and visits to enhance their curriculum studies. This develops their curiosity, encouraging them to be inquisitive, cultivating an awareness of the wider world.

Hesketh House is an exciting place to learn!

Year 4 Trip to Bolton Museum

Tuesday 15 October

Just before the half term break our Y4 pupils enjoyed a fascinating trip to Bolton Museum. They had the opportunity to take on the role of the jewellery maker, the craftsman and the pharaoh and learnt about the process ofmumification. They learnt about the importance of the Nile to trade, economy and everyday life.

Year 5 and Year 6 Trip to London

Monday 28 October – Wednesday 30 October

We had a superb cultural trip to London during the half term break. Our first stop was the Natural History Museum where we discovered more about the history of life on Earth, from the smallest insects to the largest mammals

We were fortunate with the weather and our next stop was the London Eye where the views of the City of London were superb. The excitement of the girls was contagious as we rose into the sky.

Our second day commenced with an informative tour of the Houses of Parliament. We even got the opportunity to meet our Bolton MP, Kirith Entwistle Next was a wonderful river cruise on the Thames spottingStPaul’sCathedral,TheShardand our final destination, the Tower of London.

One of the highlights was to see the amazing production of Wicked. The staging and performances were incredible.

The firm favourite amongst the girls was probably our final stop, a visit to the Harry Potter Studios

What a fabulous day they had!

Bolton School Raises £60,000 for Malawi Street Children

For the past several years, Bolton School has been raising money to support and uplift street children in Malawi. This fundraising, which was first inspired by Junior Girls’ School teacher Mrs Julia Marsden’s trip to Malawi in 2017, culminated in a whole school charity walk at the end of the summer term that brought the grand total to an incredible £60,000.

The money will support Great Minds Bright Futures. This is a charity founded by Bolton School parent Dave Armstrong, which aims to give Malawian children a better future. It provides education opportunities, creates safe spaces for vulnerable children to grow and supports them as young adults into work.

The whole of the Bolton School Foundation was involved in the sponsored walk, from the youngest children in the Nursery all the way through to Sixth Form students. Mrs Marsden said: ‘I am eternally grateful to the pupils, parents, friends and alumni of Bolton School, whose generosity has been nothing short of extraordinary. My deepest thanks also go to Great Minds Bright Futures for being the driving force behind this vision. Together, we are not just changing lives; we are shaping futures.’
