Read the following instructions alongside the video attached in the email.
Once you log in you see your dashboard, the easiest way to return to this screen is to click the little house at the top of the screen next to ‘Resources’. Scroll down, the will see a tutorial video, it would be a good idea to watch this, once you have read this document alongside the attached video.
Your dashboard will show you all the notifications you receive, and when an assignment is set it will appear here, click on ‘click to start’ to access the tasks from here as shown in the video.
The ‘TEST’ assignment used in this video has been assigned to all of you, it may be a good idea to work through the assignment with the video.
Another way to access the assignments set for you is to click on the ‘work set’ link at the top of the screen. Once you click this, any assignments will show under the ‘homework’ tab. You can click the task from the list and then click on ‘start this homework’ as shown in the video.
Once in the assignment, you are shown how many questions are due to be completed at the top. On the right side of your screen is a section titled ‘Help on this topic’ where video tutorials will appear relevant to the topic of the question. Once clicked, they will appear as a pop up, you can watch these before even attempting a question, as shown in the video.
Whenever you need to type anything other than just a number in the answer space, an onscreen keyboard will pop up, with 4 sections, in order to allow you to answer the question. This particular question requires brackets because we are factorising. The only sections of the keyboard we require here are the ‘main’ and ‘ABC’ sections, I have clicked the others to show what they contain. For any letters, we must use the ‘ABC’ section. Please watch the video carefully so you can see which keys are being used to answer the question. Once we have typed our full answer, we have to click the return key located in the bottom right (shown below) to close the keyboard and then click on ‘submit answer’.
We are then told we have answered the question correct, click ‘OK’ and then ‘next question’. If you answer a question incorrectly, you will usually be told that you need to try again, if you are unsure as to where you have gone wrong, then this may be a good time to watch one of the videos from the ‘help on this topic’ section on the right. This may then enable you to answer the question correctly and continue to the next question, shown in the video.
If you run out of time in a FAS period, or are completing work at home and wish to pause, you can click on the ‘Continue later’ link after answering a question and clicking ‘OK’ on the pop up that appears. You are then told you can return to that assessment by clicking the notification on your dashboard, to do this click the ‘click here to continue’ link at the top of your dashboard as shown in the video.
Some questions only require a numerical answer, and you may be able to use your normal iPad keyboard and click the blue enter key to submit an answer – shown in the video for question 3.
I have clicked ‘continue later’ to show you another way to carry on a paused assessment, click on the ‘work set’ link that we saw earlier. The homework tab will open and all the assignments that have
been set will appear here, the ‘test’ on the video now says ‘STARTED’ at the top, if I click it, it will open and show me what questions I’ve completed, and how many I have correct. Click on the ‘continue this homework’ link at the top to finish it.
If you enter in 2 incorrect answers the system will tell you that you are incorrect and tell you what the correct answer should have been. Once you are finished, click on ‘Next Question’ in order to complete the assignment. The next page gives you a summary of how you have done, and allows you to redo the assignment. If you return to your dashboard you will see a new notification telling you your percentage score for that particular assignment, you can click through to redo from here also. Go back to your dashboard and click on ‘work set’ this will now have updated. Here you can see all of your assignments that are either due, ongoing, or complete. If you click on the ‘test’ assignment we have just completed we will be shown a summary of all the questions on the right hand side, which we can scroll through. You can also redo the assignment from here using the redo link at the top.
There are no more assignments due, so we can log out.
Feel free to explore the website, the ‘learn’ tab at the top is an excellent place to practise some questions, and watch some tutorial video, which are broken down into topics for KS2/3/4 (Lower and senior school) and KS5 (sixth form).
If you have any questions, ask LJ in the maths office.
