The final preparations for the Foundation Summer Festival are coming together and tickets are selling well. It certainly looks like it will be a fantastic day with plenty of activities for all to take part in. The event itself will take place on Sunday 23rd June from 12 - 4pm. Included in the ticket price will be inflatable fun and games suitable for everyone – there are five separate zones containing many different types of inflatables and activities, and covering all ages.

In addition, the ticket price will also include access to football skills with ex-Bolton Wanderers Players, activities for the whole family, live music and entertainers, arts and crafts activities and stalls, face painting, bubbles and much more! Children can enjoy collecting clues on the treasure hunt trail and there will be a range of unique gift stalls and raffle stands, as well as a wide variety of food and drink available to purchase!

Group tickets for 4 people are discounted, so why not bring friends and family along to take part in the event, set in the grounds of our beautiful and iconic school! A full event guide can be found linked here.

We’ve booked the perfect weather for the event so don’t delay and book your tickets now at : https://www.trybooking.com/uk/DGOA

Enter the cookery, handicraft or photography competitions to be in with a chance to win a prize. Suitable for all ages and it’s free to take part.

AB Sundecks has kindly donated an amazing ‘money can’t buy’ prize package for 4 people to see Niall Horan on Tuesday 27th August. The closing date for entries into the silent auction is Sunday 23rd June

Volunteers are needed to help run games stalls and help with arts and crafts activities. We are asking for people to volunteer for 2 hours, for which they will receive a free individual ticket in return. If you are interested, please complete this form https://forms.gle/Jgds9u4Ufb2gZ9KG7 as soon as possible.

We are also collecting for the raffle and a bottle tombola. If you have any unwanted gifts, however small, or can donate luxury items, vouchers or experiences, these can all be used to create raffle prizes. And anything in a bottle, from Champagne to shampoo, can be donated to the bottle tombola. Please leave items at Reception marked “Summer Festival Raffle” or email bsbdpa@gmail.com<mailto:bsbdpa@gmail.com.>.

We look forward to seeing you for what promises to be a wonderful family event!

Primary Division Charity Walk

On Monday 24th June, pupils and staff from the whole of the Primary Division (Nursery, Beech House, Park Road and Hesketh House) will be taking part in a charity walk in ongoing support of the Foundation’s Malawi School Build project.

We are challenging all of the children to walk as far as they can around the Senior School Levels to raise as many funds as possible to give orphan children the precious gift of education! Everyone will be asked to dress in the colours of the flag of Malawi (black, red and green) and we hope that has the added benefit of being more environmentally sustainable, as well as less stressful (and expensive) for parents.

Your child’s pledge sheet has been sent home via your son with all the details about our the charity walk for Malawi.

Thank you in advance for your kind donations.

Pot Noodles for Urban Outreach

Following our successful Christmas collection appeals, the School Council decided that it would be a good idea to support Urban Outreach throughout the year.

We organised the emptying of the green Grub Tub on the bottom corridor and it is now ready again to receive donations.

Urban Outreach needs certain things all year round and so we have volunteered to collect pot noodles. Please bring in sealed pot noodles (any flavour) and put them in the green Grub Tub.

Our aim is to collect as many pot noodles as we can by the beginning of July.

Thank you ! School Council

After School Activities—CANCELLED

Please note that this week's water polo training session (Friday 14th June) is cancelled due the Water Polo Celebration event taking place between 4.30 and 6pm.

Outdoor Theatre and Workshops

Primary Division pupils have been treated to an immersive theatre experience at Senior School this week.

Boys in Years 4, 5 and 6 watched a play called “Carried By The Wind” by Goofus Theatre which was performed entirely without words with the use of puppets, masks and music.

Many of the boys asked insightful questions afterwards and it was fantastic how engaged they were with this different way of storytelling.

Year 3 took part in "The Conference of Birds", an interactive retelling of an ancient Sufi poem. So wonderful that the boys have opportunities to engage with this kind of culture as part of their school day.

News from the Art Room

It has been amazing to be able to take so many of the boys over to see their work displayed in the Arts Centre as part of the Foundation-wide gallery review.

Real world opportunities to present their work combined with the ability to connect with pupils across the school and their work are an essential part of developing creative thinking skills and understanding how learning is applied.

It has been great to see the boys fully engaged in learning outside the classroom and taking pride in their work. JPM

Meeting David Walliams !

On Saturday, Syed, in Year 6, was very excited to attend a book signing at the Arndale Centre in Manchester, with famous author, David Walliams.

Syed recounts “I was delighted to meet such a famous author and it has really inspired me to read more. I also got a signed copy of his new book ‘Astrochimp’.

What an exciting experience !
