From Mrs. Faulkner
Earlier this week, we all very much enjoyed taking part in our Charity Walk. Despite the heat, the boys helped each other along to complete laps of the levels in aid of the Foundation’s Malawi school appeal. It was fantastic to see the junior boys and girls coming together to enjoy the afternoon, the boys even managed to show the girls some moves in our warm up dance! Having had the fun part of course, now comes the charitable element please do remember to help your son by ensuring the money pledged to the charity on his behalf makes its way into the fund via Parent Pay. We will share a final Park Road, Primary Division and Foundation total with you early in the Autumn Term.
The Bolton School Summer Festival was a huge success on Sunday, the sun shone and everyone seemed to have a great time. Friends of Bolton School have asked me to pass on their thanks to everyone who purchased tickets and to all the volunteers, the school staff and the Estates Team who enabled us to make this event happen and to those of you who donated so generously in so many other ways. Plans have already started for next year’s event.
Next week is, of course, our final week in school and there is lots still to fit in before we finish at 4pm on Friday 5th July. We will share exact details of the arrangements for the final day with you on Monday but, in the meantime, you may want to book a slot in your diary for the Sports Day event which will take place on Friday afternoon starting at 1:30pm on the bottom level at Senior School. This is always a great way to end the year and I know the boys do very much appreciate hearing the roars of parents cheering them on. I hope to see many of you there.
On Friday 28th June, the boys will be bringing their end of year reports home, these envelopes will also contain the boys’ end of year assessment results. Reports will be available on Parent Portal but, please note, that the assessment results will not. If your son’s report includes comments written by Mrs Hunt, please be aware that these have been written in conjunction with the teacher who had previously taught that subject, whether that was Mrs Winstanley, Miss Fletcher or Mrs Brisk, and so does reflect work and progress across the whole year. Music News Year 3 Concert
After school last Wednesday, we held Year 3’s Concert. For many boys, this was the first time they had performed in front of an audience and they did really well!
Boys played drums, piano, cello and our verse speaking finalists had the opportunity to perform to the parents too.
All the boys played two recorder pieces with their class and everyone joined together to perform three songs linked with History and Science. Many thanks to the individual music teachers who helped contribute towards such a lovely concert. HJO
Y6 Bikeability
When Year 6 boys take part in BikeAbility next week, they should come into school in school uniform, bringing with them suitable clothing and shoes for cycling. They will change prior to taking part in the course and will change back again into school uniform before leaving school each day.
Don't forget their bikes and cycling helmets too!
If your son is bringing his bike on the coach, please confirm to Mrs Iddon as we need to ensure the relevant coach drivers are aware. Thank you.
TES Awards London
Last Friday, Mr Minta joined colleagues from across the Foundation to attend the TES Awards in London, where Bolton School had been shortlisted for the Excellence in the Creative Arts award.
Receiving the nomination was a real recognition of all the creative work which takes place across all parts of the school.
Although we did not win on this occasion, the work continues to take place and colleagues are striving hard to provide amazing opportunities in Art, Drama, Music, as well as in the full range of subject areas while embedding creative thinking skills in our curriculum. JPM

Year 3’s Trip to Bolton Museum
On Friday last week, Year 3 had the pleasure of visiting Bolton Museum to learn more about their current history topic, Ancient Egypt. They also had the exciting opportunity to visit the aquarium and the newly refurbished library!
The boys had a fantastic time and really wowed our tour guide with their knowledge.
We even got to see a few mummies (not just our parent helpers).
Thank you for all those involved with supporting us, it is really appreciated. ALH & TP

Achievements
Congratulations to Marcus in Year 6 who had a wonderful time last weekend with his football team, Ladybridge Lightning, winning the Bolton and Bury League Cup for U11s.
The competition final took place at Manchester City’s Etihad Training Ground and Marcus was awarded “Man of the Match”.
Well done, Marcus, what a fantastic achievement !
Congratulations also go to Svojas, in Year 4, who has passed his classic guitar Grade 2 examination with merit. Very well done, Svojas !
Sports News
Well done to the U10 cricketers, who travelled down the M6 for their final cricket fixture of this season at Newcastle-under-Lyme School this was also Mr Duxbury’s final fixture at Park Road. The boys played some fantastic cricket and emerged victorious, winning with an excellent number of runs. I am looking forward to next year’s cricket season when the boys are in Year 6.
Huge congratulations also go to the U11 Primary Division water polo team, who finished 3rd in the recent ESSA Cadet Water Polo Competition last week. The boys and girls played brilliantly and were delighted to do so well, especially as most of the players in the other schools were two years older ! Well done to all who took part.
