A note from the Head…

Severe Weather Arrangements

I hope that you had a restful half term break and enjoyed some relaxing family time together. The girls seem to have returned to school refreshed and full of energy, ready for the busy weeks ahead.

The Severe Weather Arrangements were emailed to parents this week, a copy can be found here. The key points are that information will be posted on the front page of the school website (www.boltonschool.org), usually by 7.00am, and we would be grateful if parents would use the website as the first port of call.

During half term we enjoyed our first Year 5 and Year 6 trip to London; a little more information and some photographs are included later in the Newsletter. A huge thank you to the accompanying staff who gave up part of their break and also to the girls, who were very well-behaved, great company and a pleasure to be with.

You will also be sent an email, and news often first appears on School Twitter / X accounts such as @Philip_Britton, @sfboltonschool, @BSPDJnrGirls. Music Examination Results

This morning our Year 6 pupils presented a thought-provoking and moving Remembrance Assembly, attended by the rest of Hesketh House and many of the Year 6 parents.

Congratulations to these girls on excellent results in their recent examinations: Sabrinah Warren Hattie O’Neill Sabrinah Warren

Year 5 and Year 6 Trip to London Monday 30 October – Wednesday 1 November

They spoke about the conditions facing the soldiers in World War I, the history of Armistice Day and explained why the poppy has become such a wellknown symbol of remembrance. The reading, songs and poems were a fitting tribute to those who sacrificed themselves for our future.

Mrs C Laverick

As already mentioned, we had a fabulous trip to London during the half term break. We visited the Science Museum, London Eye, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament, enjoyed a cruise on the Thames and saw an amazing production of The Lion King. The highlight however was probably our visit to the Harry Potter Studios, a firm favourite with the girls. There are lots of photographs on X if you would like to see what we got up to, but a few favourites are included here.

We Remember… In addition to preparing and leading our Remembrance Assembly, Year 6 girls made 3D French pillar poems about a 'Poilu', French soldier in their blue uniform.

Year 3 girls also made poppies and cornflowers in the Lego Lingo club – well done!

Children in Need Friday 17 November We are inviting the girls to add spotty accessories to their uniform and donate £2 for the privilege. They can also bring a teddy bear to school with them if they wish. Additional donations will be taken if anyone wants to contribute more.
