A note from the Head…

It has been another busy but exciting week at Hesketh House to round off this half term. Our Music Festival dominated at the start of the week and our MFL Eurovision Day added some extra excitement on Thursday.

Hesketh House Music Festival

Monday 13 February

All of our piano classes took place on Monday, with some excellent performances throughout the day from our pianists. Adjudicator Mrs Karen Humphreys was very impressed with the standard of playing, but also the confidence with which the girls performed. Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to those parents who were able to join us and support the event.

The girls have also enjoyed two hockey fixtures and many took part in our Jump Xtreme fundraiser too. Finally, we have come together across Primary Division today with a non-uniform day, to raise funds to support those affected by the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Hesketh House collected an amazing £619.50. Thank you to everyone who has supported these various events, and well done to all the girls for maintaining such enthusiasm for all their school activities.

Everyone has most definitely earned their half-term break! I would remind you that the girls return to school on Tuesday 28 February.

Jump Extreme

Wednesday 15 February

Pupils from across the Primary Division enjoyed an evening at Jump Xtreme, raising over £600 for our Malawi Fundraising campaign, as well as having lots of fun – thank you to everyone who came along!

The girls enjoyed a fabulous day yesterday, on a voyage of discovery about the country they have been selected to represent in our own version of Eurovision, taking place later in the year! As well as learning and performing a song, they need to produce a presentation about the country itself and learn some key words and phrases – including hello and goodbye. Final performances will be judged in a special event after the Easter holiday.

It might be a story book, a non-fiction title, a quiz book or a poetry book. Please remember to take a bookmark template from your classroom, write your name and class on it and pop it inside your book from home so that it won’t get mislaid and can be safely returned to you at the end of the day.

A group of Year 4 girls, alongside some boys from Park Road, took partin the BoltonSchools’ Hockey Festival. For most of our young players, this was their first time playing hockey. They enjoyed a quick skills session at the beginning of the event and quickly got the hang of the basics of the game, which they were then able to use during a series of short games. It was lovely to see how much everyone progressed in such a short space of time and they all left inspired to pick up a hockey stick again in the near future.

As it was a festival, no official count of match scores was kept, however it was good to see that the boys drew all of their games, while the girls drew two and won two. Well done to all involved.
