It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of our first half term already, the time has flown by! As ever, the girls have been very busy in and out of the classroom and they have definitely earned a break. We hope that you all enjoy some relaxing family time together over the next couple of weeks.

We finish off the half term with our House Cross Country Competition this afternoon and we look forward to seeing many of you on the side-lines, cheering on the runners! Please remember that access on to the site is via the lower Tudor Avenue gate only. During the break we have our first Year 5 and 6 trip to London, which we are very much looking forward to. Our Year 6 girls spent an absorbing day with artist Leigh Bowser, who introduced them to her Blood Bag Project. This raises awareness around blood donation and connects with their curriculum work on the heart and circulation.

Charlotte and Ayla said, “We spent the day being trained to be an Anti-Bullying Ambassador. We were inspired by how determined everyone felt to combat bullying and we particularly enjoyed learning sign language. We are looking forward to earning our badges and sharing our ideas with the other girls.” Kidzone Holiday Club Monday 23 October – Friday 3 November
Hesketh House pupils old and new met with Professor Bill Lucas from the University of Winchester, who visited us this week to find out more about our Hesketh Habits. When asked what he liked about our Habits he said, “Everything! I love the artwork around your school linked to the Habits, but most of all I like the way you talk about them in relation to the way you learn.” Thank you to all girls who were involved in Bill’s visit. Anti-Bullying Training Wednesday 18 October A selection of girls from across Hesketh House enjoyed some anti-bullying training this week, courtesy of The Diana Awards, which they found very useful and informative. The event was attended by children from schools across the North West.

Family Fireworks Sunday 5 November, 4.00pm This annual event is always spectacular, with an incredible Fireworks display, and this year the music will reflect a Sci-Fi theme. Further information can be found on the flyer here. PA Committee Meeting Thursday 9 November, 5.00pm, Hesketh House All interested parents are invited to attend the next meeting. We are a small group and would welcome new members! Please be aware that children are not allowed to accompany parents to the meeting. Flu Immunisations Wednesday 15 November Immunisations are once again available through school. Please click on the link here to give your consent. Children in Need Friday 17 November We are inviting the girls to add spotty accessories to their uniform and donate £2 for the privilege. They can also bring a teddy bear to school with them if they wish. Additional donations will be taken if anyone wants to contribute more. Foundation Family Event – Sunday 23 June Planning is in the early stages for a Foundation Family Event on Sunday 23 June 2024 and we are looking to form a committee of volunteers to help organise this event from all parts of the school. Our Year 6 netballers enjoyed another successful fixture last Friday against Bury Grammar School. The A Team won their match 11 – 0 and the B Team won 20 – 5. Well done to all players, and particular congratulations to Jessica and Malaka who were nominated for ‘Player of the Match’ in their games.
