A note from the Head…
One of the highlights of this week was the joint Primary Division Assembly on Tuesday, which gave the pupils some more information about the projects we have been supporting in Malawi and in particular the impact that has been made by our efforts so far. This is going to become a Foundationwide focus for this academic year, with a series of fundraising activities across the School.
We have the opportunity to send more supplies out to Malawi during the half term, and to that end Mrs Marsden is collecting donations of out-grown clothing and shoes. In addition, if anyone has any large suitcases that they no longer need, then these would also be gratefully received!
If you need to contact School, the Hesketh House Office telephone number is 01204 434761 or you can email juniorgirls@boltonschool.org. Please make sure that you include your child’s name and form in any email communication, as this enables us to deal with queries more efficiently.
Finally, I would remind you that your daughter should have a coat with her every day as we do try to get outside as much as possible, even in poor weather. Please make sure this is named, as with all items of uniform and equipment.
Mrs C Laverick
Earrings
A reminder that earrings are not allowed to be worn at Hesketh House. If your daughter has pierced ears please makesure earrings are removed before she comes to school.
School Coaches
Please remind your daughter about the expectations of behaviour and conduct on the School coaches. Girls should be seated at all times, with seatbelts on, as outlined in our Coach Usage Policy. We would like to remind you that all the coaches have CCTV and there are 2 videos in the policy that we ask all parents to view regarding fire procedures and other general information. www.boltonschool.org/our-community/parenthub-key-information/transport
Pupil Achievements
Congratulations to Kylá Chenda-Joseph, Tullah Maher and Avni Patel who have nowreceived their certificates from having participated in the National Poetry By Heart Competition earlier this year. Their recitations were imaginatively and expressively conveyed, as reflected in the judges' comments.
End of Day Collection
Please do not come on to the playground at the end of the day if there are PE or other outdoor lessons taking place
One of the two poems that Tullah learned was ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson. She capably expressed the poem's movement and the sights enjoyed by the train traveller. Tullah’s Mum, Grandma and Great Grandma all learned and recited this poem at school - such a story to tell! Avni, having learned two poems, brought presence andtendernessto her recitations. In Dennis Lee's ‘Secret Place’ she used a hushed and gentle voice to convey safety. Kylá, entering the Freestyle section of the competition, learned the poem ‘Comet’ by Kate Wakeling and her recitation showed her expressively play with the strong verbs and motion of the spinning, whizzing comet.

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION INFORMATION
Parents’ Association Meeting
Wednesday 20 September
We had a very productive meeting this week, with several PA events added to the diary. This half term we are planning a Breakfast Club for the Hesketh House girls on Friday 13 October and a Second-Hand Uniform Sale on Wednesday 18 October.
The PA would be grateful for donations of uniform for the sale – this does need to be clean and in good condition. In addition to standard uniform items, we are also going to be selling plain black winter coats, so donations ofthese would also be welcome. Items should be handed in to the Hesketh House office. Thank you!
Efforts in the second half of the term will be focussed on the Hesketh House Christmas Disco on Sunday 3 December and the Christmas Hamper Raffle. The PA have also funded a trip to the Octagon Theatre for all of the Hesketh House girls towards the end of term
If you are willing to help with PA activities, please text Lucy Onuoha 07734 865817
