A note from the Head…
This week we enjoyed our Move-up Morning and Year 6 girls went to the Senior School for their Induction Day. Feedback from all the staff was very positive, everyone clearly made a good first impression on their new teachers! It was also lovely to welcome Year 2 girls and all of the other new children who will be joining us in September. Hopefully they are really looking forward to being part of Hesketh House.
Also on Tuesday, Year 6 had their Leavers’ Celebration Event, complete with Oscar Award Ceremony, photo/video slideshow and UV disco. There were lovely refreshments, the chance for group and family photographs and of course the Year 6 Leavers’Hoodies to go home with. A huge thank you to the Hesketh House Parents’ Association who organised and paid for the whole thing – it was a fabulous evening and your efforts were very much appreciated!

Bolton Children’s Fiction Awards
Thursday 29 June
The culmination of the Bolton Children’s Fiction Awards 2023 was on Thursday when the winner was announced to a packed audience of students from Year 6 and 7 across the Foundation, as well as book clubs from local Primary and Secondary Schools. All Year 6 students have had the opportunity to meet the shortlisted authors on Zoom so they were very excited to finally learn who had won the Award. Congratulations to Jennifer Killick, author of ‘Dread Wood’ described by one student at School as ‘Even better than J K Rowling!’
The girls enjoyed an entertaining and interactive talk about where Jennifer gets her ideas for her Children’s Horror stories, as well as an exclusive reading from an as yet unpublished short story, ‘The Pond.’ If your daughter is now inspired to read Jennifer’s new books, please remind her that they are available to borrow in the Libraries at Hesketh House and in the Senior School.
