HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 10 JUNE 2022
A note from the Head… I hope that you enjoyed a relaxing half term break; the girls seem to have returned refreshed and excited for the remainder of the Summer Term. As ever, this will be a busy time, please do keep an eye on our diary toward the end of the Newsletter. Naturally this term we all start to look to the future and we have a couple of events which we hope will assist the girls in thinking about their next steps. Parents who will be new to the school in September have already been invited to a New Parent Information Evening on Monday 13 June, when they will find out more about life at Hesketh House. Year 6 have an Induction Day on Tuesday 14 June, when they will visit the Senior School, find out their forms and meet the teachers and other pupils who will be in their class. On the same day, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 girls will find out their new teacher and spend the morning in their new classrooms and the Year 2 Beech House girls will visit us too. There are a few changes to staffing at Hesketh House next year. Mrs Labbé will be specialising in Art and Design Technology, which she will teach to every class across the School. Mrs Crowther, who some parents may know from Park Road, is joining the Junior Girls from September, Mrs Forshaw will become full-time and our Deputy Head Mrs Holt will move out of the Form Teacher role. There will be a little more subject specialism, particularly in Year 5 and Year 6, and girls will be in sets for mathematics in both these year groups. Class teachers in September will be as follows: 3C Mrs Crowther 3H Mrs Hilton 4B Mrs Bass 4W Mrs Worsley 5J Mrs Joseph 5M Mrs Marsden 6F Mrs Forshaw 6G Miss Gregson The girls will find out which class they will be in on the move-up morning!
Finally, I would advise you of a couple of changes to our uniform from September. Firstly, the summer dresses are being phased out over the next year, though will still be optional in 2022-23. Going forward, the traditional ‘Winter Uniform’ will be worn throughout the year. In addition, earrings will no longer be allowed to be worn in the Junior School. We do not recommend that children of this age have their ears pierced, however if you are planning to let your daughter have this done please do this at the very start of the summer holiday so that her ears have had time to heal and earrings can be removed before the start of term. Mrs C Laverick Charity Work Year 6 pupil, Laila Altaf, spoke to us in assembly this week about a visit she made to Lebanon and Jordan to do some charity work with children and families who had fled their homes due to war. Laila told us of some of the terrible conditions they had to live in and how grateful they were for every bit of help that was given to them. Laila and her family clearly made a big difference to their lives – thank you for your efforts, we are very proud of you!
