HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 6 JANUARY 2023
A note from the Head…
Severe Weather Arrangements
Happy New Year!
The Severe Weather Arrangements were emailed to parents last term, a copy can be found here. The key points are that information will be posted on the front page of the school website (www.boltonschool.org), usually by 7.00am, and we would be grateful if parents would use the website as the first port of call. You will also be sent an email, and news often first appears on School Twitter Accounts such as @Philip_Britton, @sfboltonschool, @BSPDJnrGirls.
It was lovely to see the girls back yesterday, looking refreshed after a relaxing break from school. I hope that you all enjoyed some quality family time together during the holiday. We have had several new pupils join us this term and I would take this opportunity to welcome these families to Hesketh House. Please could I remind you that general queries should be directed to the Hesketh House office juniorgirls@boltonschool.org.uk or 01204 434761. As ever, the Spring Term will be a busy one, so please do keep you eye on the diary, which is always included at the end of the Newsletter.
Seat Belts on School Coaches As mentioned before the holiday, please can we ask you to emphasise at home, as we are at school, that pupils travelling on the coaches must wear seat belts. We do spot checks on these as they leave school, but it is clear from the CCTV on coaches that too many are being removed. Thank you.
Mrs C Laverick Spring Term Ambassadors House Cup The House Cup was presented in the final assembly at the end of the last term, with Buttermere winning it this time. Results were: Buttermere 1250 Grasmere 1242 Rydal 967 Ullswater 1167 Windermere 1141
Year 6 pupils enjoy the opportunity to act as Ambassadors, carrying out a variety of duties around the School. Thank you in advance to these girls for their help and support!
Congratulations to everyone on gaining all of these House Points, and to members of Buttermere in particular. Well done!

Music Examination Success
After School Activities
Congratulations to Annie Done-Jackson who has passed her recent Grade 1 Piano Examination with Distinction. Very well done!
Please make sure that you inform us if your daughter is not going to be able to attend an after school activity that she has signed up for. We do take registers and it is important to know if someone is going to be missing.
A Generous Donation Year 5 pupil Francesca and her brother very kindly donated some Christmas gifts to the children at Derian House – what a lovely gesture, we are very proud of you.
Instrumental Music Lessons
Senior School Entrance Examination Day Thursday 12 January
Hesketh House Parent Information Booklet
Good luck to our Year 6 girls taking the Senior School Entrance Examination next Thursday! Hesketh House is open as usual for Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 pupils. Please note that, as the Senior Schools are closed, there will be far fewer pupils on the coaches. Please get to the stop in plenty of time as delays are much less likely and do not be alarmed if the bus stop seems deserted! Hesketh House Music Festival Monday 13 February and Tuesday 14 February We will be holding our annual Music Festival just prior to half term, with the piano classes on Monday 13 February and other instrumental and ensemble groups on Tuesday 14 February. Parents will be able to come in to watch the sessions their child is taking part in if they wish; we will confirm timings in the next couple of weeks, once we have a clearer picture of the numbers involved. External adjudicators will award certificates and placings in each category, and give individual feedback on all of the performances. We will be inviting the award winners in each category to perform in a Celebratory Concert on the evening of Wednesday 1 March. More details will be given nearer the time.
If you wish your daughter to start individual music lessons, please apply directly to your chosen teacher using the information contained in the VMT brochure, attached here, to check on vacancies.
On joining the School, parents are provided with a copy of our Information Booklet. The latest copy can be found here.
