HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 17 JUNE 2022
A note from the Head… We have been looking ahead this week, with the Year 6 Induction Day and our Move-Up Day on Tuesday. The girls seem to have enjoyed finding out more about what the future may hold for them next year and the staff were very positive about meeting their new classes. I think our assembly about making a good first impression was carefully listened to and advice followed – well done girls! Today we are looking forward to our Sports Day, with parents attending for the first time since 2019! It looks like a good forecast too, so hopefully everyone will enjoy the occasion. Please remember that entry is on foot, via the Sports Field Entrance off Tudor Avenue only. We start at 1.15pm.
House Day Friday 10 June The girls enjoyed another fabulous House Day last week, completing the final part of the rotation of activities. Windermere put their oracy skills to good use researching how to reduce food waste and communicate the message to others. There was an energetic drumming session for Buttermere, outdoor challenge activities with girls in Ullswater and the final touches were made to our ‘Habits’ mosaic by Rydal. Finally, girls from Grasmere packaged and sold bath bombs, with personalised messages as part of our fundraising activities.
School continues to be very busy, and preparations for our Summer Concert are in full swing. Rehearsals seem to have been going well so far – I think you are in for a real treat! I would remind you that attendance at both the afternoon and evening performance is compulsory for all pupils. Tickets have now been sent home with the girls, and we will look next week whether we can allocate extra tickets where those have been requested. If you do not need the tickets sent to you, please do return them so that someone else can make use of them. Mrs C Laverick Pupil Achievements Congratulations to all of our certificate and trophy winners this week – well done!
Tea at The Riley Wednesday 15 June Thank you to the Year 5 girls who proved to be wonderful hosts at ‘Tea at the Riley’ this week. They enjoyed designing some lovely menus, serving guests and then entertaining them afterwards. Well done!

Tick Awareness
Hesketh House Rucksacks
Our staff at Patterdale Hall have requested that we make you aware about the importance of being ‘tick aware’. They point out that ticks are all around in the countryside at the moment. They can take some time to spot on skin, but people should check themselves over after a visit in the outdoors and be prepared to remove them effectively. Knowing the signs of possible infection and Lyme’s disease is important.
These backpacks are sold by the Parents’ Association and need to be bought from the Hesketh House office, they are not available in the uniform shop. If anyone needs a new rucksack please send in £15 in a named envelope with your daughter. New pupils are allowed to use their own bag for the first week, until they have had the opportunity to purchase one of the school ones.
There is more information and useful advice here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/lyme-disease/
