HESKETH HOUSE NEWSLETTER 27 MAY 2022

A note from the Head… This week Year 4 and Year 5 girls have enjoyed their visits to Patterdale Hall, Year 6 had some very informative talks in our Careers Carousel and girls in Year 3 and Year 5 took part in their House Swimming Galas. The week was brilliantly rounded off with some fun Jubilee celebrations! Thank you very much to all the staff who have accompanied the residential trips during the last two weeks, and to the Patterdale staff who have looked after us so well. Well done to the girls too, for their effort, resilience and great sense of fun. I think everyone thoroughly deserves their half term break and I hope you all enjoy a lovely week! Mrs C Laverick Class and Group Photographs Wednesday 11 May Girls have brought home information about ordering photographs, which is done online. A reminder that these can be delivered to school free of charge if ordered by Sunday 29 May, after this date there will be an additional charge for postage. They also explored the local area around Patterdale, looking in particular at features they have been learning about in their Geography lessons. There were fascinating presentations from Brain Research Centre Manager Alisha Patel, Helicopter Pilot Rob De Maine, Architects Jemma Woods and Emma Roden and Consultant Transplant Surgeon Hussein Khambali. We were very grateful to all of our speakers for giving up their time so willingly – thank you!

Year 6 girls were delighted to be asked to help out the senior pupils, working on their ‘Dragons’ Den’ ideas. They formed focus groups, giving valuable feedback on mindfulness products that the girls are designing.

These should be brought in to school in a named plastic bag after half term, and by Friday 17 June at the latest. Thank you! Please note that attendance is compulsory for all pupils at both the afternoon and evening performances.

Year 3 and Year 4 Hockey Festival Monday 23 May, Bolton School Players Annie Done-Jackson Kiera McCann Amaia Onuoha Alivia Smith Four of our Year 3 girls joined four boys from Park Road to take park in a Hockey Festival earlier this week. It was an excellent afternoon of hockey, with most of the children new to the game. They quickly developed a range of skills and then thoroughly enjoyed getting stuck into a series of short games against a range of opposition. As teams of Year 3 pupils coming up against predominantly Year 4 children, our boys and girls played very well and never gave up. It was an excellent experience and fantastic to see everyone coming together and enjoying an afternoon of sport. Well done!
