Building technicians need to understand the inner workings of boilers, burners, controls, fittings, valves, and pumps, as well as how they connect and interrelate. This course will teach you how to operate and maintain steam, hot water, warm air, and radiant heating systems. You will also learn the principles of mathematics that are essential to operating these building systems. In this course, you will have the opportunity to apply concepts within the real property and facilities context. You will follow the accounting process and creation of a budget from start to finish, learning valuable skills such as how to interpret financial statements, annual reports, and statements of cash flows. This course teaches you to develop energy management strategies for HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems. You will learn about the components, principles, adjustment, and maintenance of system controllers, auxiliary devices and electronic, pneumatic, and computer control systems. We’ll cover heating, cooling, and humidification control applications, along with variable air volume and building pressurization control devices. This course provides you with an overview of the environmental health and safety considerations in building operations. This course will provide you with a foundation in the basic principles of law and risk management, helping you deal with everyday legal and risk issues surrounding your business. In addition to the in-person training, participants also receive access to 60 days of post-class online exam simulators, which reinforce the knowledge gained by attending the course. This dynamic course combines classroom-style learning, interaction with industry professionals and behind-the-scenes tours of metro-Atlanta buildings. It is designed for assistant property and facility managers and others who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the industry. The Georgia Real Estate Commission has approved this course for 24 hours of Continuing Education Units. Property Management 201 Is Foundation scholarship eligible Begins April 28 Member Companies: $599 | Non-member Companies: $699 Property Management 201 is the next step for individuals who have completed PM 101 or who have more experience in the property management field. This five-day course is taught over five consecutive weeks and includes information about accounting and reporting, leasing and marketing, risk management, emergency planning and management skills. Real Estate Investment and Finance Course Is Foundation scholarship eligible 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., November 1-3 Members: $1,079 | Non-members: $1,299 Through this course, you will learn to take charge of real estate investments in order to maximize the value of a property. You will develop knowledge about basic financial concepts as they relate to real estate, including valuation, analysis, taxation, depreciation and lifecycle costing. Similarly, you will learn to evaluate real estate investments and to develop budgets that estimate net operating income. You will study the income capitalization approach and cover property taxation costs and strategies to offset these costs. You will also gain the skills to conduct discounted cash flow analysis and calculate net present value and internal rate of return. This course features exercises that require the basic use of the HP-10Bii financial calculator. Tour of Buildings September 21 Members: $50 | Non-members: $65 Learn more about the diversity of commercial real estate by touring three unique buildings. In one afternoon, you will learn what makes each building so distinct. Each building tour will last one hour and will highlight features specific to the overall operation of the building.

Commercial HVAC Certificate Earn this joint certificate from Chattahoochee Technical College and BOMA Georgia by completing a five-module program. Designed for building engineers, semester topics include the properties of thermodynamics; chilled water systems; air cooled chillers; air handling systems; fans; direct expansion systems; heating systems; control systems; energy conservation; and applicable rules, regulations, standards and laws. The modules in this program may be taken out of sequence. Property Management 101 Explore the world of property management through Property Management 101, a five-day course taught over five weeks. This dynamic course combines classroom-style learning, interaction with industry professionals and behind-the-scenes tours of metro-Atlanta buildings. It is designed for assistant property and facility managers and others who are interested in expanding their knowledge of the industry. Class locations vary from class to class. Free Seminars BOMA Georgia always looks for ways to create value for its members. Every year the association offers free seminars to BOMA Georgia members. The Fall Free Seminar, is an annual seminar that explores topics and trends in Georgia’s commercial real estate industry. These seminars are free and open to any current BOMA Georgia member.
