OWNER COMMUNICATIONS REPORT SUMMER 2018

BOMA Georgia is always seeking new ways to build value for our members. With an enterprising nature, BOMA Georgia and the BOMA Georgia Foundation have produced new products and services and will be releasing new initiatives that return value to professionals in the CRE industry. Below are just a few of the current and ongoing projects BOMA Georgia is pursuing that adds value to your company and career.

CREInsightJournal.com BOMA Georgia has launched a new, online web resource, O+M Insights, at www.CREInsightJournal.com. The online platform supports building operations and maintenance professionals as they lead careers in the real estate industry. The site features articles, videos and upcoming events and education that aides these integral members of the real estate management team in defining their career path and gaining the knowledge and skills they need to operate and maintain highperforming buildings. New content is being published and updated each month. Visit www.CREInsightJournal.com and sign up for the monthly eNewsletter to stay updated on the latest content and resources for building operations and maintenance professionals.

The association is conducting a sweeping redevelopment of the longestablished Building Engineering 101 curriculum. For over a decade, building engineers who were both starting and establishing their career have relied on the industry competencies, as well as technical and soft skills, that are taught during this six-week instructional course. The program, which launches in the fall, will be rebranded as the Foundations of Building Engineering course. In addition to revamping the instructional material, the program will be integrated for a portion of the term with four modules from BOMA Georgia’s Foundations of Real Estate Management course, also known as Property Management 101. The new program puts building operations and building management side-by-side in an exploration of the fundamentals of building operations and management, with the added benefit of further fostering important interactions between managers and building operators.

In the fall, BOMA Georgia is conducting a workshop focused on the future of the real estate industry with a focus on the technology that is disrupting business models and reshaping property ownership and management. Hosted at the Emory Conference Center Hotel on Sept. 12, programming includes discussions of trends in workplace strategy, intelligent buildings, technology shifts that are impacting job duties and much more! The program is held in conjunction with BOMA Georgia’s September Luncheon. Those that register and attend both the workshop and luncheon can receive 3 CE credits from the Georgia Real Estate Commission.

Techrupt CRE Workshop

Online registration for this program is available now.

The second class of BOMA Georgia’s CRE Leadership Master Program students graduated from the 2018 program on May 22. The program is supported with funding from the BOMA Georgia Foundation that makes this six-module program—that includes a kickoff retreat—an affordable option to train today’s leaders for the challenges of the future. During the program, participants are encouraged to enhance their leadership skill set and identify real-word solutions to future challenges with instruction, one-on-one coaching, and an end-of-term project.

Foundation Research Reaches New Markets The BOMA Georgia Foundation recently published market research on staffing ratios for the Dallas Metro market. Part of the BOMA Georgia Foundation’s mission is to provide useful research and intelligence to the commercial real estate industry. In the last two years, the foundation has been expanding its reach with releases of research products outside the state of Georgia. Prior to the Metro Dallas study, the foundation also conducted and released a Southern Region Salary and Benefits Study comprised of markets in Metro Atlanta, as well as Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina in 2017. The foundation will continue to expand its research portfolio with new research carried out in other markets across the United States. This new research is available for purchase online at www.bomageorgiafoundation.org/research/. Those interested in conducting foundation studies in their markets should contact BOMA Georgia Foundation Executive Director Gabriel Eckert by email at geckert@bomageorgia.org.
