位處太平洋火環帶, 蘊含極高熱流,許多地區的地溫梯度很高。
1972 年瑞士Motor-Columbus顧問公司估計大屯火山群地區有10萬至50萬千瓦的地熱潛能,為台灣地區 地熱能最富集之地區,其地下熱水溫度最高達293℃,地面噴氣孔溫度最高達120℃。

的地熱資源主要蘊藏在火山區和變質岩區,火山性 地熱系統僅有北部大屯地熱區及宜蘭外海的龜山島兩處,其 它地熱區皆屬非火山性熱水型地熱系統。
陽明山國家公園內的地熱資源主要蘊藏於基盤巨厚的五指山 砂岩層內,該地層厚度最少有一千公尺。五指山砂岩層自大 屯火山群南方的新北投向東北方向延伸到金山海邊,其南北 兩端都有五指山層的出露,中間地帶則逐漸深陷,並且被厚 層的火山岩體所覆蓋。由於這一深部儲存層的存在,在地面 上形成一條長約18 公里、寬約3 公里、成東北走向的地熱帶 ,貫穿火山群的中部,呈現最少十幾處的地熱徵兆區,以及 廣泛的熱水換質區域,形成一個面積達36 平方公里的地熱田。

STATEMENT/ I chose my hometown Chungli, Taoyuan as my starting point. This place would not be damaged very seriously when natural disasters occured relative elsewhere in Taiwan before, however, in the past decades, the rate of heavy rain and the rainfall increase, and that made Chungli city been flooded. In Chungli, there are two main river flow through, Old Street River and New Street River. Due to some economy reasons, the government built a 700 meters long, 40meters width concrete bridge above a part of old Street River for parking and commercial use in 90s. 2001 Nari typhoon attacted, whole Chungli downtown was been flooded, especially the concrete bridge area, so Now the government are doing the Old Street River restoration.

Local Problems Flooding : In recent years, flooding has become a common threat to Linbian town, due to the increasing torrential rain and the serious land subsidence problem in this area. The most recent floods in Linbian was caused by the typhoon Morakot on August 8, 2009, which brought 2500mm of rainfall in only 2 days. The consequences are devastated: the floods covered 3 meters in town, fish farms were destroyed, fishes flow away, railway station were covered by water and mud....it took people months even years to clean up the mud and rebuild their houses. About 300 hectares of fish farm were destroyed and can no longer be used. Land subsidence: the land subsidence has been a serious problem in the south west coast of Taiwan for about 35 years, which caused by the huge need of pumping up the underground water for aquaculture and sugar industry. years people have tried many ways to stop houses from sinking, for instance, lift up the building and build new houses on higher ground . Government’s future plan for this area : its development project”Dapeng Bay leisure zone”to develop the tourism in southern Taiwan. for the above reasons, maybe FLOATING ARCHITECTURE is a good solution! Opportunities: Floating fisherman houses recreational residents , water sport ,water front park Tourism--->UNIQUNESS!
