PLATES AND DISHES

The market of packagings for plates and dishes are in my feeling contrary to modern anticipation, well maybe not so wide and commercial as for different items like food itself, anyway there are many very interesting samples and ideas how to pack a simply plate. by Anna Grochola

TO HAVE FUN

Something for Kids... but not only? We don’t always encourage people to play with their food. But with this cool product, we couldn’t resist. This unique plate is another clever idea by Fred, made from quality Ceramic (which feels nice and heavy) and is about 8.5 inches in diameter. There is certainly plenty of room to create a bunch of crazy portraits with one plate. It’s also a clever idea that encourages children to eat a variety of different foods. Personally speaking, colourful vegetables make the best facial accessories. It’s amazing what a little spaghetti hair and baby carrot lips will do for your complexion.

Im sure this FOOD FACE plate, as a very a oryginal gadget, would be a perfect gift for adults too.The packaging of this plate just simply announce a great fun durring the meal.

TO HAVE FUN

Sarcastically small plates by Duncan Shotton

Country: Japan, Tokyo

This set of tableware features cartoon outlines of a knife, fork and plate in cheeky illustration print on the surface of each piece of dinnerware. The illustration is smaller than the ‘real’ plate, creating a fun optical illusion that makes the food (placed inside the little “plate”) appear sarcastically large. I could not find a packaging which would comes with this plate. Anyway the replica of the plate illustration on the box would be the simpliest announcement of the product.

FRIENDLY & MULTIFUNCIONAL

Pretty Dish Boxes The idea was to make the packaging so pretty and in such good quality that not only does it protect the product, an not only is it so pretty that you don’t have to wrap it to give it as a gift – but you also want to keep it for storing other things! The insert can be removed and the box is there for you to store whatever you have that needs storing, paper, pens, toys or any little bits that you have lying around.

“We wanted to have smart and re-usable gift packaging for our cups, pretty enough for people to actually save them and to want to use them again. That’s why the text is located at the bottom and they have a decorative pattern all around. The insert that holds the cups in the box is removable.” - says designers. source: http://lovelypackage.com/isak-2/#more-31320

RAW

Royal Doulton

Quite raw design of “packaging” presenting Royal Doulton, design and ceramic london’s company. Their plates has been tied up with a piece of natural string, with a brand label, giving in my feeling a pretty typical for british but quite smart solution.
