Onshore gas field http://www.globalccsinstitute.com/project with CO2 injection into saline formation s/12361 below the reservoir. Project proponents seek to provide assurance that secure geological storage of CO2 can be verified as being cost effective. Short-term monitoring has been proposed as an option for providing long-term cost assurances and to demonstrate that industrial-scale geological storage of CO2 is a viable greenhouse gas-mitigating alternative. Precedents relating to the regulation and verification of the geological storage of CO2 (to allow the eligibility for greenhouse gas credits) are also being sought.
