Balance Sheet

Lionel Brown

Lionel Brown took up the whistle in 1992 after being challenged by a fellow member. He soon discovered that life on the other side of the fence was a lot different than expected. Of the thirteen years that Lionel has been a member, he has spent seven of them as Coaching Co-ordinator preparing new candidates for their tickets. Lionel has overseen the coaching of almost 100 new members and continues in that role today.

Kim Archer

Kim joined the referees’ association in 1992. Her brother John had become a referee the previous year and Kim decided that was the way ahead for her.

Kim’s career on the field was cut short through illness, however her contribution to the association was only just beginning. In 1995 Kim joined the Appointments Board and remained there until 2004. In 2005 she was appointed to the newly created position of Assistant Director Of Referees.

Kim has spent countless Saturday mornings on the sidelines of the district football fields watching, teaching and looking after the young referees as they set out on their own careers. Just as many Monday evenings have been spent reviewing performances and preparing appointments for the next weekend’s games, only to repeat the process again the following week.

Kim Archer and Lionel Brown were both popular choices for the honour in 2005. No doubt they will remain devoted members well into the future. Congratulations to both members.
