DIRECTOR OF REFEREE’S REPORT – Mr Richard Daizli
DIRECTOR OF REFEREE’S REPORT
Mr. Richard Daizli
It was another short season in 2021 due to the pandemic but unlike 2020 where the season was able to be completed with a final’s series, 2021 saw only the first 9 rounds completed. The early completion to the season resulted in no finals matches being played and an empty feeling for all involved.
I would like to thank Nathan Loveday, Daniel Gardner, and Jamie Pomeroy for their assistance this year. Hopefully with a full season next year, we will be able to implement programs that will develop our referees and help them fulfil their ambitions. This will include increasing the number of assessments for each referee as we now have an abundance of young referees that will be looking to progress up the grades.
Even though there was only 9 weeks of footy, our referees performed strongly. There were several weeks where referees from St George and Cronulla assisted us to cover the large number of games on Saturdays and I would like to thank those associations and referees for their support. In return, we also had referees assist in the St George and Cronulla junior leagues.
Several referees were promoted to higher grades so as to prepare them for development opportunities in the coming years. This ensures we as an association are supportive of the pathways system that has been created by the league in developing referees. Better commitment to training will ensure they are ready to take the next step.
It was pleasing to hear that Rami Abu Mansour and Colton Anderson-Seaton have been selected in the 2022 Development Squad. Hopefully they both train well and are part of the squad long term. Both have shown great improvement and eagerness to learn and deserve their opportunity. There are always opportunities for those willing to do the hard work so if you have ambition to progress through the ranks, it is up to you to put the effort in. Senior members will always be there to help guide and support you on your journey.
26 CBDRLRA Inc. 100th Annual Report & Financial Statement – Season 2021
Unfortunately, due to the early finish to the season, there were no major awards this year for on field performance.
Thank you to the executive board, the junior league and district club for their support during this difficult year. Enjoy the festive season, stay safe, maintain good hygiene, train hard and set your goals for 2022. Hopefully we get to complete a full season. Ensure you read the Laws of the Game and work hard to fulfill your goals.
