From the Co-Artistic Directors

Dear Subscriber,

Jane Jones and Myra Platt, Founding Co-Artistic Directors, in 2009.

Do you remember what were you doing in October 1990? We remember: Book-It was just becoming an official 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. Twenty years later, look how far we’ve come! And we’re just as passionate about literature on stage as ever. We have learned with each passing season how to provide our patrons—both longtime subscribers and newbies—with art that both inspires the imagination and gives you value for your dollars spent. This booklet will guide you on maximizing the value of your subscription; keep it as a reference over the season—but always know that we are happy to hear from you… anytime. Thanks for subscribing and supporting Book-It. See you at the theatre!

Ticket Exchange 101

FREE TICKET EXCHANGE Life is busy, schedules change. That’s why we make it painless for subscribers to exchange tickets from one performance date to another of the same production (up to two exchanges per patron, upgrade charges may apply; additional exchanges will be charged a service fee of $5.00). It is not possible to make exchanges from one production to another. You must exchange your tickets at least 24 HOURS prior to the date of your ticketed performance. Tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded once the performance date has passed. Here’s how to make your exchange: BY PHONE: Call 206.216.0833. Have at least two optional dates in mind when you call. BY MAIL: Send your unused tickets, with your name, and the two optional dates for your exchange to: Book-It Box Office: Ticket Exchange Seattle Center House 305 Harrison Street Seattle, WA 98109 Because of the many variables, exchange requests cannot be processed via email. You may choose to have your new tickets emailed to you or held under your name in will-call for pick-up on the evening of the performance. We do not mail exchanges. Can’t use your tickets? If you can’t make an alternate date, we suggest two options: • Give your tickets to a friend—introduce someone new to Book-It! • Donate your unused tickets back to Book-It and receive a full-value tax deduction. Call the box office by 5:00 p.m. the day of the performance and we’ll send you a donation form for the full value of your tickets.

More About Tickets Lost your tickets? Tickets are easily replaced by calling 206.216.0833. We can email your replacements or you may pick them up prior to the performance at will call, all at no extra charge. Just don’t tell us your dog ate them! PICK ‘EM UP OR PRINT ‘EM OUT We’re happy to hold your tickets at will call, but whether you need replacement tickets or you are making an initial purchase, you may also opt to have your tickets emailed to you. Print those tickets and use them as you would any ticket. When you arrive at the theatre, you can sail right by the will call window and go straight to the usher. We request that each person present their own ticket with bar code to the usher when entering the theatre. Late Seating THERE IS NO LATE SEATING. If you arrive late to a Book-It show, you will not be seated until intermission. We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate our patrons’ cooperation in this matter. Please allow ample time for parking and walking to the theatre. Keep tabs on Seattle Center transportation and parking by calling the hotline at 206.233.3989 before you leave the house. Also, make sure our box office has your current email address so you are sure to receive your week-of-show Theatre Reminder, which includes Center event updates. RED RANGER NOTE Our production of Red Ranger Came Calling is held in the Eve Alvord Theatre at Seattle Children’s Theatre. Seating in the Eve Alvord Theatre is general admission; please arrive early for best selection. Making Donations to Book-It Did you know that there is a 45% gap between income from ticket sales and the cost of the many programs we provide to inspire people of all ages to read? With help from individuals like you, we can close that gap. Please consider making a gift to Book-It. It’s easy to do online—simply click “Donate Now.” Thanks!

Frequently Asked Questions I can’t attend on the date on my tickets. What do I do? Exchange or donate your tickets, see page 6. I have the wrong number of tickets in my order. What do I do? Call the box office at 206.216.0833. Yikes! I THINK I RECYCLED MY TICKETS. What do I do? Answers on page 7! I got to the theatre late—traffic was awful—it wasn’t my fault. Why can’t I just take my seat? Our theatre is such an intimate size, it is simply too disruptive to both your fellow patrons and the performers to allow late entry. Can I bring my six-year-old nephew to see the show? With the exception of Red Ranger Came Calling, our shows are generally suited for audiences of 12 or older. However, if you have any questions about content appropriateness of the shows we produce, please consult our website or give the box office a call at 206.216.0833. We’ll do our best to guide you. Where should I park? There are several pay parking lots in the Seattle Center vicinity. Parking tips are included on our website at www.book-it.org. What’s “Book-It All Over?” BIAO is our renowned Education and Outreach program. We tour curriculum-based stories and workshops to schools, libraries, and community centers throughout the year. If you’d like see a performance or residency at your child’s school, contact us! Learn more on our website, or call 206.770.0880 for a brochure. Our popular Family Fun Days include a performance, crafts, and a workshop at low prices. Check online for dates, times, and prices. I have a compliment, comment, or complaint. Who do I tell? Please write to us via our general emailbox at info@book-it.org. Your correspondence will be routed appropriately. Book-It values your opinions and concerns and appreciates hearing from our patrons.
