A Different Shade of Green
by Rajib Chocroborty
About the Book
Written over a period of nearly a quarter of a century, the book presents fresh and original poems that touch on human relations, family bonds, unfulfilled love and longing, disability, gender ambiguity, homophobia, environmental destruction, and ethnic tension. Each poem has a different poetic persona characterized with deceptive simplicity and the poet’s unique perspective. Most of the poems in this collection are in free verse, but the reader will also find traditional forms like sonnet, ghazal, limerick and haiku. There are also allusions in some poems to literature and Indian mythology, which are explained in the footnotes.

About the Author

Rajib Chocroborty was born and raised in northeastern India, and moved to Kolkata after his schooling. He was a bookworm since childhood, and to be a writer was his dream. However, he is now compelled by a weak eyesight to read less, and listens more to audiobooks. A road accident in 2004 left Chocroborty physically challenged, and he has to live the rest of his life with the double disadvantage of being queer and disabled. It has also postponed the fulfilment of his dream for so many years.
