Challenge for Ukraine 20th - 26th June: World Refugee Week Help Ukrainian children write their next chapter by writing a new one in yours!
How does the challenge work? Tens of thousands of Ukrainian children are arriving in the UK, having left their loved ones, education, homes and possessions behind. With your help, they can begin to start a new life whilst healing from trauma. By taking on 5 challenges or trying a single collective goal across 5 days, you can make a big difference!

For World Refugee week, we invite you to take on a 5 day challenge to help us deliver 6,500 Bookmark Boxes to Ukrainian children! This could be 5 new recipes, 5 new books, hosting 25 friends for a gettogether in the park (5 for each day)! The funds you’re able to raise from your supporters can help many of these children feel welcomed, supported, and prepared to start their next chapter.

Fundraising ideas Here are a few ideas to get you started. Remember to share your challenge with your friends and family to get sponsored and collect donations!
PHYSICAL FUNDRAISERS:
SOCIAL OCCASIONS:
» Run/cycle/walk 5km every day for 5 days
» Host an office/work/community centre pub quiz with £5 entry
» Run/cycle/walk 5 laps of your local park everyday for 5 days
» Enjoy the good weather and host a barbecue! Guests donate £5
» Complete a 5km or mile relay with friends!
» Host 25 friends for a picnic in the park (5 for each day!)
» Swim 50 laps of your local pool
» Treasure hunt for 25 things (pay £5 to enter). This could be organised through apps like Actionbound!
» Complete 50...or 500 push-ups/sit ups every day » Run/walk/cycle 50km in 5 days in a team » Organise a 5-a side football tournament with £5 entry
» Organise an orienteering competition between 5 checkpoints across your local area with an entry cost to donate.
FOODIE FUNDRAISERS:
ART AND LITERARY IDEAS:
» Bake 5 cakes in 5 days and/or run a bake sale!
» Read 5 books in 5 days!
» Host 5 friends to ‘donate for dinner’, treating them to a Ukrainian menu!
» Write 5 poems or short stories in 5 days!
» Run a bake off! This could be at home, at school or at the office (provided you have access to a kitchen!) Each participant donates to enter and competes to be crowned the facilitator of flavour! This could be expanded to a bake sale, where the final products of competitors are sold as a fundraiser!
» Produce some artwork with the theme of welcoming Ukrainian’s and auction it!
» Come dine with me: Split into teams and cook a three-course meal with only 5 ingredients to a panel of judges, the best team after the week of tasting wins! HOURS
Complete a challenge relay – a 25-hour read-a-thon or 25-hour game-a-thon, a 25 hour knit-a-thon or a 25-hour karaoke-a-thon/25-hour dance-a-thon. Take over from your friends and colleagues as you split up the task and keep it going!
Alternatively... if you DARE... Ask friends/family for donations – anyone who makes a donation can submit a dare. Over the course of 5 days, they’ll pick 5 dares for you to do!

What’s in the box? * In each Bookmark Box will be highquality books in both Ukrainian and English, magazines, activities and stationery packs. The tablets are preloaded with educational and language apps and eBooks in both English and Ukrainian. There will also be a mobile data allowance on a SIM card to stay in touch with friends and family displaced around the world. Our team has been working with literacy experts to curate Bookmark Boxes, filling them with literacy and language resources as well as games and storytelling aides for therapeutic play.
