What’s new in 2015/16 Boomerang wishes to announce - in our 20th year - the launch of our comprehensive school digital planning system, Hermes. Hermes is an integrated suite of connected online planners for students, teachers, administrators and parents that will be available for use on mobile devices and PCs. Our approach is to ensure that schools can trial our state-of-the-art system well in advance, or run both digital and paper-based products alongside each other, without incurring any significant cost implications. We are also excited to announce a significant content partnership for our Secondary and 16+ planners in 2015/16 with Thomas Education - a leading psychometric profiling provider. This initiative will help young people to understand more about themselves and others whilst helping with their plans for the future. Hermes Digital School Planner System Boomerang’s new school digital planning system - Hermes - is available for schools from early in 2015. The cloud-based application will provide students, teachers, school administrators and parents with a ‘connected’ digital planner for their mobile device (phone or tablet) or computer (desktop or laptop). There are also stand-alone Student & Teacher Planner apps for customers who prefer a simpler digital solution. The system will be available for trial by schools from early 2015 to be fully operational for the 2015/16 academic year.
Hermes Connected and interactive Using the administration content management system (CMS) the school is able to monitor and track homework setting across the school, helping to comply with Ofsted requirements.
Hermes is a secure cloud-based ‘connected’ system. It allows homework, academic assignments and extra-curricular activities to be sent directly from teachers to students, ensuring accuracy, consistency and accountability of homework setting.

Hermes For students and teachers Hermes provides students with their school planner on any technology device of their choosing - mobile, tablet, PC or laptop. School timetables can be pre-loaded via the school’s management system, importing data files or set-up manually. Individual lesson, day, week, month, term, year or revision period calendar screen views. Lesson plans can be added and updated by teachers with preparatory notes, reading lists, web links, lesson plans, objectives, plenaries, etc; and notified to students. Homework assignments can be pushed to student’s devices, creating to-do lists, priorities and reminders. Students & teachers can manually add in additional tasks, meetings and extra-curricular events. Revision and exam timetables can also be created. Each individual student and teacher planner can be fully personalised – both by schools with key school information and by individuals with favourite photos and personal information.
Hermes For School Administrators Hermes is controlled by an intuitive and comprehensive content management system. Boomerang will provide set-up training for school staff and a dedicated customer service team to assist at any time. Hermes allows schools to pre-load bespoke classes and lesson timetables for every student and teacher either via the school’s management system (such as SIMS), importing data files or inputting details manually. Additionally an unlimited amount of school information – similar to the printed planners’ personalised pages – can be included within the system. Planners can be further personalised with school crests and colours.
For Parents A linked parent app will provide parents with visibility of their children’s school timetable and homework assignments to remain closely involved with their child’s education. Additional information such as teacher contact details and email addresses can be included.

Boomerang Content & Design Boomerang planners, as well as recording homework and developing time management skills, contain a wealth of content that is designed to support teaching and learning. The content is designed to stimulate student interest and assist in meeting judgement criteria set by Ofsted: specifically spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, promoting pupil safety, preparing pupils for employment and helping to create a positive ethos. New for 2015 Understanding Psychometrics Do your students know what makes them tick? Are they aware of their individual strengths? Do they know where they’re headed career-wise? Psychometric assessments can reveal students’ unique skills and behavioural characteristics, which in turn can improve selfawareness, confidence and focus. This insight can aid them in identifying the types of work to which they are best suited, and motivate them to research and study towards appropriate career paths. Boomerang is delighted to partner with Thomas Education who are passionate about improving young people’s prospects through psychometric profiling as they move through the education system into work. Decide which planner is right for your school and students Hopefully this brochure gives you some insight into what is available from Boomerang but we have a highly experienced customer service team who will listen to your requirements and can offer you the benefit of our experience providing planners to schools for nearly 16 years.

Please note that your final order quantities can be amended much later at the time of signing off your schools personalised pages artwork.
Personalised pages We ask for your final personalised pages and cover design to be uploaded via our easy-to-use online artwork system at a pre-agreed date through the spring of 2015. www. boomerangart.co.uk We are able to help you every step of the way and if you are a new customer we can generate your personalised pages from scratch if necessary.
Once you have decided to purchase from Boomerang we will prepare a detailed order form containing all relevant details. This form will need to be signed by an authorised signatory and e-mailed, faxed or mailed to us. At the time of ordering you will be asked to select your preferred personalised pages submission & delivery dates.

FAQs What’s Boomerang’s last order date?
There isn’t one – we take orders all year round from schools. However to guarantee delivery before certain key dates see below. Any late orders outside of our main production batches usually take 6 weeks for delivery and please note everything is subject to stock availability. What’s the latest date we can send across our personalised artwork to receive delivery before the summer holidays?
The latest date you can supply artwork to us to ensure that you get delivery before the summer holidays date (English schools 17th July 2015) will be 5th June 2015. NI & Scotland schools will be 20th March 2015 for delivery by 19th June 2015. To guarantee delivery at the end of the holidays/ before school starts in September 2015 the artwork deadline will be 26th June 2015. Please be aware that our production batches are associated with the latest artwork deadlines. Guaranteed delivery dates have limited capacity and will be booked up early. I don’t have time to put together my personalised pages/don’t know what to include…

What if l am waiting for term dates to be finalised to go into my personalised pages?
We have a ‘house’ system and would like separate planners for each house, can you help us with this?
Term dates tend to be available early on in the previous academic year from your local authority. However if you are not able to confirm these right away we can move you into a later artwork schedule that suits.
Yes of course. We can work with you to ensure each house has its own planner, whether it be different front covers or personalised pages. Just give us a call and we can talk you through the options available to you.
How do l submit my artwork to Boomerang?
Can I order extra planners throughout the year?
We have a secure online artwork system on which you can easily upload your artwork. Our Artwork Team is always on hand to assist and will check everything that you submit. You will be asked to proof and sign-off your artwork before we send to print.
Our experience suggests that you should order an additional 15% over your anticipated roll-number to replace any planners lost by students or for unplanned new starters during the year. However if you do run low at any point of the year, providing we have stock we can send replacement planners with your customised pages within about 3 weeks.
Is there a limit to the number of personalised pages in the front section that l can have in my planners?
No. All we ask is that the pages are in multiples of 8 from a minimum of 8 upwards.
What support will l receive from Boomerang once I’ve placed my order?
I’m interested in a landscape planner, but my existing artwork is portrait.
We have a dedicated account management and artwork team who are here all year round to support and help you throughout the entire ordering, approving artwork and delivery process.
No problem, Boomerang will be happy to translate your portrait artwork into landscape orientation free of charge and maintain it on our secure artwork site. I don’t have the time or the resources to put together my front cover, can you help?
No problem, Boomerang has over 60 front cover design options for you to choose from. Just select which one you like, send us your school logo/crest, and we will put it all together for you.

Do Boomerang planners carry advertising?
Yes, all Boomerang planners, other than the Classic Academic, carry a small number of advertising messages - mainly promoting educational initiatives such as literacy / reading or other appropriate good causes deemed to be useful to schools and students. All sponsors, their messages and artwork are thoroughly vetted before inclusion.
